My father purchased 1982 Corolla new and still has it running. It has crossed over 1 million miles with few odometer change since they stopped working 😎. Easy to maintain and any mechanic can work on it. No need for fancy scanners or sensors. I used it for my college and so did my brothers when we learned to drive.

My 2012 Camry is near 300K miles and still runs like a clock. Never had any issue besides normal maintenance: oil and filter changes every 5K miles with genuine Toyota parts; genuine Toyota air and cabin filters every year; genuine Toyota WS ATF/pink coolant every 50K miles and Akebono brake pads every 60K miles. I have to say that the Akebono pads will outlast any pads with minimum wear on rotors and less dust.

I'm one of those people who doesn't need or want a bulky, huge, easy to flip SUV. Now, I'm a fan of small hatchback cars, but I do loooooove the new Camrys. I thought I wanted AWD next time since I live in mountainous northern New Mexico, but I only REALLY need AWD about 5% of the time and I think having to maintain one more thing on a vehicle isn't appealing. I had a rental AWD Nissan Rogue recently and hated that the AWD would kick in when it didn't need to and would scare me or make the Rogue actually slip. It was weird and annoying. My neighbor has a hybrid Camry that he loves.

The owner probably bought a used Kia Optima. If you buy a used Hyundai/Kia, you lose the 10yr/100k warranty and it defaults to a 5yr/60k warranty. The only way for the 2nd owner to retain the 10yr/100k warranty is to buy CPO. Also, the Hyundai/Kia 6-8 speed transmission found in their Sonata/Optima is a pretty reliable. The owner probably had the DCT transmission, which is known for problems.

Hi Scotty. A big fan here, from Iran. let me tell you, in Iran, this used car costs around 72000 USD (or even more) while a labor gets around 200 USD monthly, so one should save all his or her money for thirty years to buy one (while the inflation rate is around 50%). How about that :)

The day of this comment 11/28/2023 I have 208566. I change the oil every month (5000 miles) with pure synthetic oil. I have replaced breaks front and rear, alternator and AC compressor and one engine air filter. In my country, Pakistan, up till 2022, Toyota was offering both a standard auto transmission (U340E) and a CVT (K313) transmission in the Corolla. Now Toyota has gotten rid of the standard auto in favour of the CVT. So I bought myself a brand new Corolla with a manual transmission. Yes, a manual transmission is still being offered in the basic Corolla variant. If Scotty doesn't recommend CVT, I won't buy a car with CVT. Period!

When I bought my Corolla 2010, in less than half year the maintenance light was on and it did so every a few month. Every time I went to the dealer for maintenance, they would suggest me this or that and charge me a few handred dollors. In less than 2 years, I ended up paying $2000. The bill always wrote the customer asked to replace this or that parts. So later I went to another dealer for maintenance, they don't suggest to change too much. But the labor rate is now unbearable. Ten years ago, the rate was $85 per hour and last year $185.

My brothers 11 camry broke a coolant line 200 miles from home at 12pm. After cranking the heater to max and rolling down the windows, he drove home at 40 miles an hour all while making sure the temp gauge stayed below the red. That was several tens of thousand miles and a couple years ago back when the car had about 200k miles on it. I think hes replaced the water pump too, and maybe a rear sway bar and bushing.
