I totally agree when I was successful in my weight loss journey I didn’t tell anyone.

you are 100% correct!! Aside from people trying to sabotage you when they know you want to improve your life!

Great take! I hadn’t even thought about the intentional sabotage. And sometimes it can even be unintentional but still detrimental nonetheless.

Oh I thought u just steered clear of that part. I like ur angle on it either way. Moving in silence is always a virtue.

@@royalgems5185 I don’t have any real examples of intentional sabotage in my weight loss journey. Unintentional though I got plenty of that! I said a few weeks ago I wanted to try a flavored ginger ale and my husband walked in the door this afternoon with a 12 pack. I only needed one! 😂😩

The accomplishment seems heightened when you can do it in silence. I never had a true high after accomplishing my goal of running a marathon because I had talked about it nonstop for 18 weeks. Very anticlimactic…

I love your perspective. Thanks for sharing. Last year, I was following along this 1 creator weight loss journey on TikTok and next thing I know he stop posting, and went offline with no explanation. So yea it happens when there’s pressure on self. On the other hand, I am currently on my weight loss journey and it holds me accountable to share throughout this process. However, I will be mindful of your tips, to be sure that the effort into my goal is more than the sharing.

The pressure is real when we get caught up in “doing it for the ‘gram”. I just want everyone to learn from my mistakes and succeed at their goals. You got this! 👊🏽

I think it depends on the person. Some people are easily steered by others opinions. And some are influenced by their own inner grit, so it doesn't matter who knows. And what is for us, nobody can take away from us unless we hand it over to them. Words are very powerful...we SPEAK things into existence and call them as if they are. So, it depends on the fortitude and perspective of the individual. Great processing and I love this Channel so far with all the motivation and inspirational information. 💪🏾💪🏾

Great perspective! It depends on the person and sometimes the situation because I’ve been both. I’ve gotten so caught up in talking about something that I lost the momentum to complete it, and I’ve talked about something and it fueled me to finish. Thank you for the feedback on the video and channel, happy to hear it’s been helpful. 👊🏽😊

I'm in my fifties now and I don't need to share unless it's something that will help me. Otherwise, it's going to have the opposite effect, raise my cortisol levels and defeat the purpose. Just my opinion.

Did you have any type of weight loss surgery prior to losing the 70 lbs? And yes, I agree that when we speak of something and it does not come to fruition that we leave ourselves wide open for ridicule and judgment.
@ursgetsfit
@ursgetsfit Ай бұрын
I had VSG in 2014. Can’t believe it’s been 10+ years! Regained most of that weight back and found myself at 225 lbs in 2022. I talk about it in a few other videos on my channel. And that’s a great take about ridicule and judgement. And sometimes we are our own worst critic when it comes to failed goals.

I disagree. If I don’t compare myself to other more accomplished athletes in my favorite sport, how can I know what to aim for? How do I get a picture of better form? How do I know what’s possible? With all due respect, the “don’t compare yourself with others” means you have no role models and nothing to strive toward. Who wants a life like that?
@ursgetsfit
@ursgetsfit Ай бұрын
Thank you for adding a different perspective to the conversation! Do you think it makes a difference if the role model is an insanely athletic, superhuman figure versus the guy/girl next door? I wouldn’t feel bad about not hitting Sha’Carri Richardson times but if my neighbor beat me in a foot race I might feel some type of way. Does that (or should that) make a difference?

@ I can learn something from everyone in my sport. Why would I feel bad about someone’s skill level if I can copy their technique? I want to compare myself with others whose skills are more advanced. It’s terribly difficult to put together a jigsaw puzzle if you don’t have the picture on the box as a guide.
