@Angels5103 жыл бұрын
They kinda touch on it. In the quarantine episode they mention Amir just called Jake out of the blue after all these years. It seems par for the course that Amir basically Jedi mind tricked Jake into being in his life again like some kind of angry dumb ghost. I mean he basically kills Doobs with his mind in the finally so he's a superhuman at this point.
@skc1383 жыл бұрын
From what I gather, the lore is that CH also went under in the J&A universe, so they we're both out of jobs. Jake, realizing that Amir is his only friend (due to the fact that he's an insecure douchebag), reached out to Amir to start a podcast network, much like the real life Jake and Amir.

@@Angels510 still there was so much potential for a homeless and borderline.. dead amir to insert his way back into Jake's life forcing him into some kind of fucked up dilemma where he has to take him back and work with him. In old jake and amir they would make a big point of moving offices or something and turn it into a narrative to make jokes from, here they just seem to be glossing over any kind of actual narrative and continuing on like nothing has changed this is easily the largest change to the series (new office, new lives, entirely new careers, older characters) and surprisingly no real attempt to make jokes from all that potential narrative. I feel like they don't want to take any risks incase they upset the fans , it feels like they're doing it for me, i dont want them to do it for me, everyone here wants to hear that you're a bitch Jake! It feels like they are playing caricatures of their old characters it's a little bizarre.

This could just be me, but does anyone else feel a huge change in tone because of the shift from their handheld shooting style to the locked off tripod shots they are doing now? I don’t know if it’s for logistical reasons (cam ops, not shooting dual cam anymore), but the handheld style really added a sense of spontaneity and almost gave it more of a documentary feel, where this current style makes it feel a bit more rigid and more scripted than I think it ever felt before. They were also able to inject a lot of extra comedy through camera work before like fast pans or the sudden zoom ins. The content itself is still just as good I just think they are suffering from the presentation a bit currently.
