Satule Iga for the way she handled and answered the question and raised the concern. She was calm and collected and wasn’t rude at all. She was being honest and putting the interests of the players while trying to understand the business needs. She uses her being #1 as a good platform to advocate for the rights of the players. C’mon, in as much as i support Iga, Elena, Jess and more i don’t really stay that late just to watch a game, it affects our sleeping pattern too. How much more for the players? It’s a good and constructive feedback from Iga. Well done!

Iga made some great points, particularly how after the match ends, there will be at least 4 hrs of postgame activity/requirements. What happened in Montreal is truly ridiculous, court usage is one area that should be looked into. Playing on an outer court in order to get the game done is better than a 1am empty-stadium game. WTA do better!

@@davidr2802I make little money and I enjoy watching sports. I don't think you know anything about small wages other than what you read somewhere. In addition to the top players, there are a whole host of lower-ranked ITF tennis players who earn very little and go to work almost every day. Tennis players play practically all year round with maximum physical and mental effort. I value them more than other athletes. What Iga says is simply logical. None of us understands and does not want such a bad, to the detriment of the health of athletes, match planning. The WTA is now run by men who don't seem to like or value women tennis players. @vicki8669 Pegula would have probably won no matter what, but we will never know. Making Samsonova play a 3 set match and then turn around a couple hours later to play in the finals is ridiculous. The score would have never been so lopsided. Samsonova knocked off some great players to get to the finals. She deserved a day of rest and an opportunity to play her best tennis in the finals. They have got to figure out a way to schedule these matches so that players are not given huge advantages or disadvantages. It was very unfair.

Being polite and prudent is not going to change anything. Be factual. Iga was on the right track with data collection.question, is it good business sense to btoadcast below standard matches with fatigued competotirs, and do the fans who paid good money to sit up late and be robbed of their money's worth. The players are prone to injuries. Fatigues and withdraw from the next tournament, is this good business. For who ,? By not using data and all other avenues like peer pressure, the organizers will remain complacent of player well being, health, career ending injuries and keep blaming the business, angle. Included here is the total ignorance of organizers awareness of the critical medical issues sleep and rest deprivation, and circadian rhythm sleep disorders. Organizers are virtually abusing and threatening the players lives and not taking responsibility for it. Deflecting the blame to the corporate and business people. They need to accept their responsibility for the players well being as the BJK and the original WTA doctrine declared. Players should not let BJK and the WTA down by not standing up as a team against these inhuman abuses. Wake up !!

So long as there is enough recovery time between matches, it shouldn't be an issue. Many players have said it's not a big deal. The total purse payout of these tournaments are so large because of the amount of television exposure the tourney sponsors get. There's a direct correlation.

I do think the schedule in Montréal was wrong but I don’t think making masters 1000 tournament longer is the solution I was there for Elena vs Daria, it was an awesome match but it was kinda empty, they both finished destroyed and it definitely ruined Elena’s chance for the title But here in Montréal it was very hard to predict the weather from Monday to Thursday they said it would rain everyday and it didn’t I was there almost every day and it was supper sunny it was hard to trust the forecast and also when it did rain matches would resume within minutes There were lots of mistakes in the final 2 days but overall and besides not giving genie a main draw wild card it was an awesome tournament The outer courts were used, you could see players every where and if they make it a 2 weeks tournament and put the final on a week day you probably wouldn’t get much of the environment we saw through out the whole tournament The day of the finals they move doubles to the rogers court so there was time that could have been given to samsonova to recover, make her semi 10 am and schedule the final 8 pm I’m not saying these was ideal but as a final resource wasn’t as awful as what ended up happening The doubles final started earlier that’s the singles and ended up later and in spite of the 3rd set súper tiebreak tule and deciding points in games it was a great match super worth it and in the other hand people that paid over 400 dollars for the final got a less than 1 hour match with a player physically destroyed Solution add 2 days to the masters One of them being a rest day/family day, right before the quarter finals In case there’s any match that needs to be had that day make the ground pass enough to enter central court for that schedule activities for that day like the hockey or autographs signing and still end the tournament on Sunday, and don’t add the collegue tournament that was so not necessary just background noice

Playing sports in the Eastern US means you're going to be playing late sometimes. That's just the only way to maximize revenue in a country this big. It's not complicated. Do they want to play earlier for substantially less money?

Yes, who actually is up til 3am watching tennis? Apart from that, there's the whole silliness of using artificial floodlighting etc, when there are plenty of daylight hours.

Dude, they have been playing tennis tournaments like the US open with floodlights since the 70s.

I was there for that match and stayed it was the best match I’ve ever seen live on the women side, it was grueling but part of the drama was the scheduling in Montréal it was very hard to predict the weather that week everyday from Monday to Thursday the forecast was rain/storm, and ended up being sunny af, I can see both sides but making masters 1000 2 weeks not the solution now for this specific case specially on finals day they did samsonova awful there was time schedule the final at 9pm give her time

It's money that drives Corporations, Sponsors, Media and the different Tennis Associations! If the tennis associations had the wealth to manage television rights, sponsorships, prize money, their own stadiums etc..I'm sure the players schedules would be favourable to them! The media corporations, sponsors and others involved in the behind the scenes monetary inputs of tennis are reaching for the maximum of broadcast audiences and if the biggest sponsors of the tournament is a hypothetical 10hrs time difference away guess when that tennis match is going to be played! When the sponsors audience prime time arrives! Why would anyone think the biggest sponsors cares about the players jet lag or the time the match finishes! The sponsors dollar and audience satisfaction is more important than any player to the sponsor!

Certainly not limited to tennis; the obeisance of athletes to the strictures of media coverage. They're human--it's appalling.

This tour and schedule is absolutely grueling on their bodies and I feel that this is not safe and good for tennis. They have to make some changes and soon. Too many of the players are hurt and playing so many matches in a short period of time and this is not good.

Anyone who watches tennis would know that the schedules are also a form of cheating. Whomever schedule these matches, know exactly what they are doing. Only certain individuals play late night matches. Also, women tennis can be just as good as the men, but the draws and schedules are rigged. That match between Rybakina and Kasatkina was the final and was played in the middle of the night. And have someone like Pegula in the middle of the day. Pegula is the center of the cheating ordeal. However, she cannot fill out a stadium. So if they are looking at the business perspective, they would not schedule two good players that late at night. Enough said.
