What happened to the children born to Dona Catherina & King Wimaladharmasuriya ? I have read that Mahasthana was the eldest son of Donà Catherina & King Wimaladharmasuriya, & not the son of King Senarath, as you mentioned today with regard to the battle at Wellawaya. Later you said that King Senarath had three sons namely Wijepala , Kumarasinghe , & Devasthana who later became Rajasinghe the 2nd. I think you made a mistake , please clarify. Mahasthana

The reason why King Wimaladharmasuriya I, didn't mainly go for an offensive attack was the Iberian Union was much stronger during his time. So he mainly focused on defending and consolidating his kingdom rather than going for offensive warfare. Further, he was an expert on defensive strategies (like Arthur Wellesley). Most importantly, there was no significant naval power available for him to use. Zamorin, Ottoman, and many Sultanates were in peace with King Philip II. China was also with Philip. The Mughals depended on the Portuguese navy. Malay was an option, but not enough. Korea was neutral, they were useless without Yi Sun-sin anyway. So he had to wait for King Philip II's enemies to come to the Indian Ocean. But with his sudden death, he couldn't expel the Iberian power forever.
While discussing the Randiwela "Satana" the eldest son of King Senarath is described as "Mahasthana". But later the eldest son is identified as Wijepala. Can you pl explain this at the next episode? Is it the one and the same? If not the reason/s for naming the same under two names?

Mahastana is used for the eldest son of many kings. It's Prince of Wales. The eldest daughter is called Maha Adassin, like Princess Royal But they had their personal names in addition to these titles.

Shouldn't the rebellions of Kuruwita Rala which fell within the reign of king Senerath be brought to attention to offer a broader perspective?

History is also ' his story' 'Unlimited' triggers the opposite.
Similer Portuguese colonial cruelties in latin america have been exposed and discribed by many renowned post colonial scholars.clever sratagies used by king senerath helped to prevent atrocities committed by Portuguese in" othering" his people. This radical wise king chose the most appropriate person to inherit his kingdom by breaking traditonal rules for the long term benefits of the governed.

Pl. talk on the fairly big Earthquake which had occurred around Colombo on 14th April 1615 and caused fires and losses of over 2000 lives as reported by Historian Paul Peiris, quoting Portugese sources. Is there any information on the incident in local sources? This should have occurred during King Senaraths reign. Don't we have more information regarding him even in Portugese Archives/sources?
