because it would be tedious and take too much time to work that out. But, it is conceptually easy... solve for the energy eigenvalues by solving the differential equation and get the eigenvalues.

It's totally okay.. he is actually describing it in terms of infinite square well potential.. where we are unable to find all the magic numbers.. after that when the pptential is linear harmonic oscillator.. it changes to what we know..
