Glad I found this (lazy Sunday afternoon poodling around on YT)- I haven’t had my UNO out since I got the Keystep, and this looks like a fun set-up to try after dinner. Maybe stick a Volca in there somewhere too...

As it so happens I plugged in my uno for he first time in months a couple of nights ago. Definately sounds better through a few fx.

IK should/must do a revision for this machine to be a success. Drop the keyboard for more knobs and faders and you have a killer sound module with a Keystep or other small keyboard. Menu diving on hardware is not an attractive proposition but it's sound generating capabilities are.

Get another UNO and you send a sequence from the Keystep to one of them while playing lead on top with the second UNO. Keystep allows you to play 2 modules at one time. Both UNOs plug into the Zoom since they are mono-out. You then have a two-voice multi-timbral (more than paraphonic) synth.

Great stuff mate. Here is an idear. Insted of using the zoom ms 70 cdr - use an ipad and AUM hosting some effects - would make a great video mixing hardware (UNO SYNTH) - keystep and the ipad.

good video!!! i have a novation mininova (powerful but without sequencer) and will receive next week a keystep. only a midi cable (mininova in and keystep out) is enough to use the parameters and sounds of the synth and tweak them into sequences played with the keystep?

Please Help? I have a Keystep and an UNO, Circuit, Electribe 2, 2x TB-03, IPad Pro 2018 +2 IPad Air, PC, Mac and others all routed using IconnectMIDI4+ to my Roland MX-1, Audiohub 2x4, Scarlet 2nd gen out of Behringer DDM4000, JBL Out. I have found endless possibilities using this system with full MIDI control using iConfig software so naturally when I opened the box, Keystep there are switches on the back for in and out control (i 🤔). Set these setings to MIDI for both. Please, What setting for these do I need for Keystep sequencer Rate locked to Mac, Ableton live 10 over USB (hopefully) and out of Keystep to MIDI Devices + Volca etc? Any info appreciated! I would be seriously lost if it were not for all your Blogs, Tutorials and live each day waiting on your next one. This is not me trying to get up you I just need you to know how I and many other bedroom setup people really have that next level fun without breaking the bank but still enjoying tips, tricks etc that only the Minted Pro’s know. Thankyou so much if I haven’t said it all ready and I’m hopeful on your response (Keystep?).

Hi Doug, another great video and I am really starting to like the UNO especially for the price, it seems like a good value. I see you have a Keystep, I also have one and it is my favorite portable Midi Controller. I was hesitant to purchase it at first because of the key size (I hate keyboards with mini keys) but the Keystep has mid sized keys and was pleasantly surprised when I got it as the keys fit my hands perfectly and I got used to it right away. You get a LOT of keyboard for the price with a Keystep in my opinion. How do you like yours?
@TheSoundTestRoom6 жыл бұрын
David Hans It was sent to me for review and I have to say that the keyboard is also perfect for me, no problem playing it at all and it feels really nice, and man it does a lot, the connectivity is brilliant

My Novation Launchkey 25 Mkll does not have a midi l/O. I bought the Uno Synth and cannot connect it to my midi controller. What are my options? Can I get midi connection through a usb hub? Or do I need a usb > midi adapter? Any help would be awesome, thanks.
@TheSoundTestRoom6 жыл бұрын
If your midi keyboard does not have the standard midi din plugs, then yes you will need a usb to midi connector, although most the cheap ones are total rubbish, it’s the same for most synths and desktop synths like the Behringer Model D or the Blofeld, you need the midi din connectors, that’s one of the reasons the Little Arturia Keystep is awesome, it has all the i/os you need

How does someone with no experience get the Arturia keystep to work in Windows 10....Not a single video on youtube to show how this installs and works in windows. Right now I have a $118 paper weight. The users manual is useless unless your an experienced user. I just want to make some noise...Why things have to be so difficult? This should be plug and play or step by step instructions on getting this to work in windows....Any help or a video on the subject would be helpful....thanks in advance.

@@TheSoundTestRoom Hello! I just got the UNO and am thinking of getting the ZOOM. May I ask why you output the UNO L/R instead of Mono into the ZOOM? Won't the ZOOM send a received Mono signal to its L+R outputs? Thanks

Nice demo. If you have a MIDI controller with keys and knobs, and a 12inch iPad pro, is that better/more flexible/more compact than hardware synth, for sound creation? Considering all the great synth, effects, and recording apps. What is the advantage of hardware synth, over software synth, with 2018 tech?
@TheSoundTestRoom6 жыл бұрын
Great question. No advantage whatsoever, it’s all down to personal taste, you don’t even need an iPad Pro, this channel specialises in iOS Music Apps and I use an old Air 2. For me personally I like to mix and match, plus I’m lucky because I get sent gear to review, but of course I never get to use it to it’s full potential and then it has to go back. The good thing about the KeyStep is that it happy controlling both the iPad and the UNO plus anything else you wan to throw at it.
@MSS-g7f6 жыл бұрын
Advantages: Independent power supply. Better sound quality A more tactile (but limited) playing experience. Excellent physical design except for the keyboard - it needs more knobs and faders, so drop the keyboard and redesign the lower quarter. Inbuilt Arp and Sequencer. I looked at this for a long time but bought a different 2 Osc Semi-Modular instead because it did not have enough external controls. It could be an essential part of a hardware setup or equslly complement a soft setup with simple physical modification ( but complex signal routing redesign ).

Great thing about this video (besides the sounds) the gear cost less then $450.00.
