*One thing I just realized I forgot to mention during the video, is that when inciting a revolt with an Ikko Ikki monk, the rebel army that spawns upon success will become yours along with the town if they manage to take it. You don't go to war with the clan they take it from either, Ikko Ikki monks are the only monks in the game to have this feature. Regular monk caused rebellions will spawn as either Buddhist or Christian rebels and when they take a town, it will become a rebel town.*

yea though when they do that you can't control those rebels anyway and only after they take the town is possible but also if you are sucessul at doing this multiple times but they keep getting crushed by other battle groups it will only make there groups stronger in terms of xp and vet troops and make your life pure hell so it is a risk to doing it that way and when I tried this very rarely had any one revolt spot been successful in taking a town. and they also spawn in proportion to the garason quality and quanity so it is a pain in the ass. the only way to get a good group there is to incite a revolt with a group at full card strength in the castle it'self and hope they don't get anilated and you can only have one rebel group at a time active in there.
@omegakaoz36587 жыл бұрын
Hey you forgot to mention the Ikko Ikki temples' traits (which are in my opinion hands down the best in the game). Besides the fact that it gives you chi research reduction (-2/3% initally?) and access to recruit more monk agents and paired with dojos, different warrior monk units like your typical temple but you automatically have naginata Warrior Monk garrisons within your stronghold for free as long as you have the temple built which will spawn out with your samurai retainers, onna bushi (if you have a castle and/or citadel) and ashigaru. So you can essentially build a fortress/castle and pair that with Ikko temples and a small army in choke points like Settsu and Tajima to the west and you have a decent border guard. Depending on the tier of the temple, you can essentially get 2-3 warrior monk garrison per region. Other than that great video!

I will always remember the Ikko Ikki. Not for playing them myself (didn't do that yet), but because they were a super loyal ally when I beat the Shogun 2 campaign for the second time (played as Chosokabe). Even after Realm Divide, they stayed an ally and actually kept some noisy enemies away from me (especially on sea) while conquering and holding Kyoto, before I marshed to Kyoto they actually slayed an Hatakeyama army that was camping near it. They eventually turned against me after the second turn holding Kyoto, they couldn't stop me from becoming Shogun at this point anymore. Thanks, Ikko Ikki :3

I think we became allies pretty early in the game, when our provinces weren't very near to each other, me being the Chosokabe, my home province is quite far away from Ikko Ikkis home province. At that point, we were allies for so long that they liked me enough to not declare war on me even on RD. Takeda's home province is much closer to them, so they start disliking you earlier.

You have underrated the matchlock ashigaru. I have just passed my Ikko Ikki campaign, with my primary mission building a matchlock army. these units are: 1) very. very. very powerful in castle protection 2) have ultra devastating damage as long as you keep an enemy near but busy (melee distraction) 3) along with accuracy improvements in your capital, they get pretty accurate, which make them useful in nearly every situation. i always win field battles with them, even outnumbered 4) hit n run tactics work uber-good. Have fun gunning.

Yeah there Castle defense is incredible. I had 4 gun monks just covering one side of my castle, and I thought, I'd probably have to send the spear ashigaru over eventually to reinforce, but nope. It’s funny how the Ikkō-Ikki suck with matchlock weapons in this game even though in history they were the most feared thing on the battlefield. At Ishiyami Hongan-ji 30,000 of Oda Nobunaga’s men were absolutely obliterated by 3,000 Ikkō-Ikki arquebusiers. This siege of Ishiyama Hongan-ji lasted so long that it was considered a campaign unto itself. Even the war against other Ikkō strongholds is named after the fortress of Ishiyama Hongan-ji.

The Ikko Ikki are the Japanese version of the Faith Militant.
@pypy19868206 жыл бұрын
Much better. They are more like Crusader Knights order such as Knights Templar. Warrior Monks and their fortress monastery are exempt from feudal tax and were individually wealthy and powerful due to religious donations and their single-mindedness training in martial arts and Buddhism (they are supposedly fanatical and fearless due to their Buddhist beliefs and the lack of family and other worldly attachments) since the vow of chastity and poverty practically took away any other worldly concerns for them. The biggest difference between them and GOT faith militant is Japanese warrior monks are professional elite soldiers with proper training, equipment, and monetary and logistic support just like Crusader Knights Orders. In fact, also similar to Crusader Knights, a good chunk of the warrior monks were ex-samurais who were defeated and choose to become a monk instead of committing seppuku. In GOT terms, warrior monks are very similar to Night's Watch with a lot of penitent ex-samurai joining the various fortress monasteries across the land when they become losers of political and military conflicts. Indeed, warrior monks sects accidentally becoming extra intimidating in Sengoku Jidai because of all the feudal wars created a lot of Ronin/masterless samurais and Samurai orphans to boost their ranks. So if you combine Night's Watch and Faith Militant, you probably gets equivalent of Warrior Monks sects for GOT.

I focused heavily on accuracy with them, and found their accuracy soon reaching between 60 and 70 for most once properly upgraded and trained. Which was insanity, because they turned all my enemies to paste before they reach me. I would watch enemies charge me and after a few volleys. They were routed before even clashing with my front lines. It became so crazy i checked my mods and found none of them affected my archers, and got bored after conquering all of middle japan and didn't even bother with Kyoto. I got a couple of them alongside a couple bow ronin during an Oda Long Campaign, and even if the bow ronin were quite disappointing, the army I put them did amazingly well. By themselves, they fought off Date, Uesugi and Takeda, as well as the biggest pain the ass in the game in my opinion, aka the Honma Clan.
@pieterzwanenburg5450 Жыл бұрын
TIP : An interesting mechanic is that when you use the monks to incite revolts , the lower the percentage of ikko ikki inhabitants, the higher the chance of successful revolt. In addition, provinces without a lot of soldiers are less expensive to incite revolts in. Thus by first levelling up your monks, and then send them behind enemy lines to further away provinces with little soldiers ( often those not next to you, but one or two provinces away ) , you can incite revolts successfully for an acceptable price. In addition, when having trouble to maintain control of the newly acquired province, you can just use the acquired garrison to strengthen your own army or use them as a distraction by sending them to other provinces. Just let the newly acquired province rebel ! It doesn't matter , as it will wreak havoc on the enemy faction just the same! Also , the new owner will be rebels, rather than a powerful faction such as the Takeda or Date, so you can conquer these rebel provinces rather easily later on anyway !

I just tried playing the Ikko Ikki for the first time. I've played "hard" clans before, but this medium clan absolutely challenged me. I would be at war with at least four other clans at all times, suing for peace whenever I could. Though peace would never last and at most two years later they'd attack again. The longest period I ever had to focus on my economy instead of recruiting was about two years in which I upgraded my castles wherever I could. Ultimately, I had stretched to five provinces total before being pushed back and losing everything within about, again, two years, after a total of nine clans had declared war on me within only half a year.

Ikko Ikki are a very difficult clan to play with. First off your main problem during the campaign is your economy. Your income is very low and you don't have metsukes. Warrior monks are awesome, but expensive. The second difficult part is where you decide to expand. Forget about Omi, you can't defend it. So either north or south. Both are viable but going north is safer. You don't have access to nanban ships, so you can't defend the sea properly and the AI is very prone to do naval invasions. The only good thing about Ikko Ikki is that you start with an early realm divide. Everyone is going to declare war on you as soon as you border them. The key to survive this campaign is to spam ashigaru loan sword everywhere. Cheap & deadly. Temples are awesome. 2nd tier temples gives you two free warrior monks garrison. It's possible to win a legendary campaign with them but without doubt they are the most difficult clan to play with.

Echigo is a gamble move because there like 3 ways you can enter from so defending that is just as painful. but like i said i might just be a noob.

The Ikko Ikki are definitely one of the harder clans to play at the start, I think the Date have a more difficult starting position that it looks but they're still among the easier clans to start as. The Ikko Ikki early game units can easily carry a campaign though, recruit loads of Loan Sword Ashigaru and laugh at the enemies Yari Ashigaru as long as they're out of Yari Wall.

This clan is so hard. I have tried many times in hard and I just can't crack it. Maybe I just lack the patience to do every battle in a favorable way.

*when you declare war on the Ikko Ikki thinking that they haven't done much and will be easy but then they steamroll you with countless stacks of Ronin from their countless provinces taken from the Takeda, Oda, and the Imagawa*

Just to say it, every campaign IKKO IKKI kick my ass, so either I suck at the game, or they're dumb OP in AI's hands

I love exploiting the Incite Revolt function of the Ikko Ikki. The instant garrison makes it so I don’t have to produce and army What I don’t like though is when you’re forced to a Realm Divide because suddenly a neighbouring province rebelled and converted to Ikko Ikki

I swear I've killed at least 25 rebellions of them, they are annoying, always unhappy. But it's fun tho, training for my units.

i have a question: should i rush the warrior monk skill tree all the way?
@MrSmartDonkeyLP8 жыл бұрын
Nah, they're pretty expensive so you won't be able to field too many for a while anyway, just get up to Essence of the Spirit and leave it there, although you don't have to rush for that either really, work on economy first and get that after.
@VvodeAn8 жыл бұрын
***** okay okay, build the economy first then essence of spirit... what should i do with the sakai? They are eager to attack in almost every playthrough of mine
@MrSmartDonkeyLP8 жыл бұрын
Like I said in the video, I tend to vassalize them and attempt to get an alliance with either the Oda or the Hattori and just focus on the east instead. You can easily use Echizen as a choke point, so even if people do decide to declare war on you in the west you can just shove a few units in there and you'll usually be fine.

MrSmartDonkeyLP is it possible to convert metsukes from other armies as the ikko ikki?
@MrSmartDonkeyLP8 жыл бұрын
You can convert them in the same sense as every other faction can, it'll essentially kill them off. You can't convert them to your cause though, no clan can do that sadly.

is it actually worth to do the traits that make your general convert towns faster when he levels up?

Where does the info about fertile soil show? Or is that a hidden stat?
@MrSmartDonkeyLP7 жыл бұрын
When looking at the buildings in your town, you can see it by hovering over your farm building. You can only see it on your own towns though, not those of other clans.

Could you do another FotS campaign at some point? There seems to be a real lack of content for that game out there, especially as Shogunate factions. An Aizu campaign could be interesting.
