fun fact, the coraline sweater in the actual film is hand knitted with teeny tiny needles. The creator is Althea Crome and she also made the gloves too and she makes loads of tiny complex sweaters for art shows

Blocking really does make a difference. I had refused to the entire time I was knitting for YEARS, and then I started crochet five months ago and then blocking didn't seem so bad lol
@QueAwkwardNoises
@QueAwkwardNoises Жыл бұрын
Blocking makes your work feel more finished because the process relaxes and evens your tension throughout the project. When everything is more uniformly distributed, the fabric feels smoother and has more drape/flowiness! Definitely recommend blocking for garments but it’s not so necessary for more decorative items:)

Is there an alternative for those blocking mats? I really dont want to get another tool 😂
@QueAwkwardNoises

@@The.fantasybug you can pin it to your couch or a chair if you have one, and honestly throwing something through the washer and drier might be enough “blocking” for some projects

Your Coraline sweater is so cute!! Love the intense sparkle! And the Spiderverse sweater looks so comfy; using the thread for the sketched bits is so clever! Fun fact about the sweater in the Coraline movie: The sweater, as well as many of the other knitted pieces, were actually knit by hand! There's a video on the LAIKA studios' youtube channel showing the knitter, Althea Crone, making the star sweater and showing off other miniatures that she made for the movie.

I spent the past 2 years crocheting my coraline sweater. Because 1: i wasn't working on it at every moment of every day, i'd sometimes go weeks without touching it and 2: i frogged it and redid the entire thing about 3 times. And the very night I finally finish it, I get this video recommended to me. Quite the coincidence pfft. But yours looks lovely :]! And makes me think i should probably block mine as well..

I never leave comments but I have to say that I have been trying to learn to crochet for years but I have never finished a project because I always find a different hyperfixation. Your first (I think) crochet from film is was inspired to pick up crochet for one last attempt because I wanted to make Coralines gloves. I impulsively also decided to turn her star sweater into a cardigan. I have 4 squares finished which is the furthest I've ever gotten in a project so thank you for the motivation!
