Detailed SAAB Window Switch Refurbishment or Replacement

As I retrofitted pinch protection recently, I can recommend just removing the caps for the window lift buttons from the switch before installing back the door module (the only one I couldn't figure out was the window lock button). It's very easy once the switch is opened up. This gives a little bit more room for putting the switch back in and there's no chance of scratching the buttons. After installing the switch in the door card, just pop the caps on from above. Also, if you disconnect the battery you will still lose the pinch protection and you don't need the Tech 2 to relearn it, just drop the window and get it up 2 times and you'll hear a beep that it's learned.

You say retro-fitted? I don't have pinch protection on mine, but was wondering what all is needed to have it? Is it just the controller that is being removed in this video or is there something else that's needed. I have a tech 2.

@@Explore-Gobal You need the window controllers, the window motors and their connectors as they are with 6 pins instead of 2. You can also either get the whole door wiring harness from a donor car (which is the easier option), or add yourself the needed wires for those extra pins. When adding with Tech2 you need to reprogram the door modules that you installed pinch protection on and the BCM (Body control module). If your car is 2006 or higher and you are adding pinch protection on your rear doors too, when reprogramming the rear door modules, tell them that the cars is 2005 or 2004, as the rear pinch protection was removed as an option for 2006 model year.

Why lookout for an Aero window switch? Are you thinking you can add one shot up by just changing the switch? Sorry to burst your bubble but you need a lot more than just the right switches.

@@philliparthur8672 driver and pass switch packs with one shot capability; window regulators with one shot capability (6 pin connector), door harness. Once the hardware is in place you'll need someone with Tech2 to turn the feature 'ON' in the BCM.

@@CycloneCyd Thank you and when my local junkyard has a aero model saab I'll get the switch and harness, should be about 20 dollars for both and I do need to get myself a tech 2 for that and my fog lights.

Look in any Buick from those years. Same peeled buttons. My buttons are in the center. Would prefer door. It's like lower window left hand grab food right. Not lower with right hand THEN grab food right hand How did you acquire a real tech II? Pick-n-pull 6 miles from my house.

Hello Phillip. Are you looking to retrofit the pinch protection feature in you 9-3? If so, you'll need to switch the window regulators out. I've never done that retro fit so there may be additional wires needed but I'm not 100 percent certain.

I have a convertible 2010 2.0 my rear passenger window stop working all the other work so I did like a light dim test so when I press the window switch one by one power makes the light dim going through but when do the rear window no dim light or click is possible master window switch default on that button ?

Could be the master switch. Before replacing the master switch I would look at the rear window regulator and see if you're getting power to it.

My 9-5 has one-click, auto-open switches but not auto close. Does anyone know if its possible to replace with an auto-open and auto-close switches? I'm guessing auto-close was an option on higher tier models...

I don't know much about that option on the 9-5's but if it's anything like the NG9-3's you'll need to swap the windows regulators out with ones for pinch protection and then program via tech2.

Point of mention? Dont you think its important to mention that even with the tech 2 equipment you need to license the software from GM for about $2,000 a year? U didnt even mention anything about tech2 until 20min into your 25min long video with shitty ads. Someone could waste a lot of time and money following this video

I'll carry on with my points of mention.. 1.) Tech 2 was only used to recalibrate antipinch protection, which isn't necessary for those without the option. Recalibration may simply be required just from the battery draining or dying, not just when refurbishing the window switch. Even then as a Saab owner, if you plan to keep your vehicle running for many years to come without shelling out tons of money to someone else, invest in a tech2 clone. 2.) The plan wasn't to even use a tech 2, hence why it wasn't mentioned until later in the video. Furthermore, my tech 2 is a clone, which operates like the real deal and their's ways around the software. You think the video is long now? Think if I mentioned how to set up a tech2 every time I used it in a video. A simple google search goes a long way... 3.) I don't claim to know everything Saab related nor do I try to imply that. Fortunately, what makes the Saab community so great is that others make an attempt to post helpful video's as well. Here is one that I had no idea about until Cyd commented but it's a workaround to recalibrate antipinch protection without a tech 2.
