I'm a 22 year old college student, and I've suffered one of the biggest heartbreaks in the world with my 2+ years relationship with this 25 year old guy. He was wholesome and there was nothing wrong with him at all. I looked at him and I saw everything I could see in him. Everything was worth it and I don't regret any bit of it. We broke up because he valued individuality and needed time for himself since he was so occupied with other things. You can't neglect self-love and I realized that through this breakup. He told me "I love you, but I also love myself." So he told me he knew that someone like me only comes once in a lifetime and everything that I've taught him, will follow him to the future in order to improve and be a better boyfriend. You love someone so you let them go on to be a better version of themselves. As much as I want this love of my life to be mine in the future, I have to accept that if it wasn't meant to be, it won't ever come back to me. For anyone who is dealing with a heartbreak, it's been Day 6 for me, it's still hard, and it'll be like this for a while but it's time for self improvement to be successful. I'm grateful for the friends and family that have been dealing with my miserable self. And for the one I thought I would be spending my life time with, I'm still rooting for you 100% as well. Weylie, thank you so much for this video.

Wow. I just want you to know that we're almost in the same exact situation. For me it's been about 2 months since he broke up with me, and I can say that I still hurt.. but I'm better. Keep your head up. What's meant to be, will. Like they say, if you love something, set it free.. Much love❤

rose nadin wow this just happened to me a month ago. He broke up with me because he wasn’t where he wanted to be in life and he needed to get there alone. I was so confused and heartbroken as to why he would let go of a supportive girlfriend?! But sometimes men just need their own time. I’m proud of you for your maturity about your break up. It will get better with time❤️

I was going through a similar thing this month.. ): I got out of a 2 year relationship and it hurt to accept that we weren't meant to be. Sometimes loving someone isn't enough. I'm the one who broke up with my boyfriend because I knew that I was just staying because I loved him and not because I was happy. ):

Relationships are definitely a continual commitment and i think people often forget that and thats why they leave because its not always going to be based on a feeling, its a choice that you make every single day to continue to care and love this person.

Don’t worry about it. If he did this to you, he didn’t deserve you to begin with. His loss. You will get through it. You will grow from the pain and what doesn’t kill us make us stronger, right? :) believe me, in a few months or even a year, he will realize what he lost. He will feel the pain you are feeling right now. But by that time you will be better off. The hurt will be there for a while, just give it a bit of time. Everything happens for the best. If you broke up, then it wasn’t meant to be. Look forward to the amazing person you will meet in the future!!! He will be perfect! Unlike your ex, who dared to do this to you and cause you so much pain. Stay strong sista!

I feel like the advice about compatability was a game changer for me. I was with someone who I use to argue with time and time again (over the smallest things), it got to the point I started changing myself to avoid the arguments(I don't recommend it). Sometimes the worst thing about a break up is not actually breaking up, it's the acknowledgement of that the person or you weren't right for them (which is the hardest pill to swallow especially after you give them everything that you possibly could give). Thank you Weylie for your amazing, realistic advice.

Tas B You must have known I needed to read this. My relationship mimicked yours. We were opposites, but I looked passed it bc of my love for him. I even tried to be like him, so we wouldn’t argue. But, then I realized all we ever did was argue bc of our differences. I’m happy we decided to end it. I would rather have him as my friend then my enemy.

This is something I’ve learned in grad school as a social worker and have never forgotten it since (it’s a concept that is used in couples therapy): the only person whose behavior we can control is our own. So say that your SO refuses to wash the dishes and it’s something you constantly argue about. If your goal is to preserve your relationship, then you either have to accept it or compromise in some way. If your goal is for them to wash the dishes, then your relationship may suffer as a result because you can’t control what your SO decides to do. Hope that makes sense! You can look up “Choice Theory” for more info too :)

So much truth to the relationship advice. I went thru it all with my ex we kept fighting over such little things it became so exhausting especially he has always been insecure I dealt with that for over two years and I couldn’t take anymore I talked to my friends and they told me I was dealing with things that no one should experience and after hearing it over and over I realized I need to move on from this unhealthy relationship. And tho it hurts because he was like a best friend to me I realized how much I was being manipulated and how much sadness and anxiety I let go of when I let go of the relationship. Granted not having him in my life has been very hard but I think I deserve to be treated well and I want to be happy and the only real way I can have that is by putting myself first and not toxic relationships. It’s hard to love people with their flaws but if you can’t live with their issues or their issues are over bearing on your life it’s not worth the trouble.

Bianca Gonzalez this speaks to me! I am just trying to stop talking to a guy I got really close with. It’s just been days and I feel horrible. He came to me in a time where I was very weak emotionally and I did become dependent on him and he was my best friend. It just felt really unhealthy and I am trying to cut ties but I feel so sad over it. Real pain. But like you said I feel like I deserve better.

This so much! I recently broke up with my ex because of these exact same issues and even though towards the end he did try to change but it just wasn't working for me anymore and i couldn't bring myself to feel the same way about him as i used to. So rather than lead him on or continue this futureless relationship, i just thought it would be best for both of us to end it. and it did hurt but i know i did the right thing.

I always get so inspired by your videos and your girl talks, thank you!! I'm in my first serious relationship and my bf and I are together for almost 5month now and I always worried about being too attached. You helped me understand that it's ok to want to spend most of the time with your partner and other days you want alone time/girl time. And yes if my bf and I feel good that way it's ok and nobody else can say it's "wrong". Thank you weylie that really helped me a lot, you (and wah) have been my favourite KZbinr for years now and you guys make me really happy with your videos! Lots of love from Germany!!!💞💞

I sooo agree with you about the keeping things fresh thing especially. I feel like people need to compare love relationships more with other types of relationships, then it'll be much easier and make much more sense. Like keeping things fresh. You can't expect a relationship to still be new, exciting and fresh after ten years or whatever. And there's something much more rewarding that comes with knowing someone so well the relationship between you two can't be considered fresh. Being comfortable, having someone you trust who understands you, feeling like you can be yourself, all those things. I honestly prefer that over butterflies and constant excitement. The ideal would be both at the same time of course, but you can leave the more unrealistic dreams to books and movies and enjoy those alongside your realistic beautiful real relationship.

Wow. This video was just what I needed... when you talked about questioning your relationship when things aren’t fresh, that’s exactly how I’ve been feeling lately. I’ve been coming out of it, but it’s so reassuring to hear someone else say that it’s normal and OK to feel that way sometimes in a long term relationship. SORRY THIS IS LONG: My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for almost 3 years now, and sometimes it feels good, and sometimes it doesn't. It has benefited me in the ways like, self-discovery, a sense of self, learning to be more independent as I grow older. "Keeping things fresh" is a struggle, so we have SaturDates (FaceTime dates on a Saturday) where we buy food from the same place, or cook at home over FaceTime and just chill and catchup. I love your advice videos, girl talk videos because they have helped me so much with myself and my relationship. I relate to when you and Wah had a fight in Hawaii, and you thought it was the end: my bf and I went on a trip and had a huge fight, and it felt like it was the end, it took a long time to fix, but some of your advice for relationships helped us. You have seriously help me feel confident about my bare face, and minimal makeup, and just being independent that I hope to do a solo trip in the future. Anyway, sorry this is long, I just wanted to say I love you and for the past 4 years, you have made a huge impact on my life!

it's so amazingly comforting having this play and listening to you as i get ready for my day, Weylie. it's like i'm chatting with a sista beside me as i put on makeup or winding down for a little girl talk before studying. anyways! i completely agree with the 'keeping things fresh' part of this video. i've struggled directly after the 1 year mark with my boyfriend, feeling like i need to do moremoremore so that he's happy and in turn that would make me happy-- but i realized it was my own internal insecurity of thinking i'm boring or that he'll leave if there is nothing exciting in our relationship. i've learned to really understand how he is as a person, if he's already comfortable with how we are now (which he really is), and how often we *both* would like to freshen things up with our otherwise quiet, lulling time together. a lot of the time these worries are so muddled in our heads-- so it's really nice coming across a video like this in times where i think many people could silently need. love you tons, Weylie!

I usually never comment...but Weylie, THANK YOU for this and all the wonderful content you have made on KZbin the past few years. I’ve been following you for a while and that tampon video of yours will forever be iconic. I learned how to use a tampon from you, so thank you for that as well. I’ve been reading the comments and want to share my story as well (an edited version of my response to someone on here). At 26 and someone who is currently healing from a breakup that was 2 months ago, I know and understand it will sting in some way for a while. I was with a guy for three years and all he said to me really was that he doesn’t feel the same way anymore and that “it just happens”. I felt despair and disappointment wondering why he stopped trying. I had only one other serious relationship before this where the guy broke up with me as well. So within the past six years, I have spent my early twenties being in relationships with guys who weren’t really worth it. With this recent breakup, I started questioning myself about my two failed relationships and thinking that there was something wrong with me. And trust me the worst feeling ever is doubting yourself. I have been kind, caring, and sweet in these relationships because those are just my traits as a person. What I’ve realized now is that I cared too much for my significant other to the point I started to neglect my own self. I’m now finally navigating self love and just learning that you really need to love yourself first before anything else. At the end of day, family and friends will help BUT it’s you who has to pick yourself up. Break ups are horrible and there’s nothing pretty about it. I have loved and I have lost, but this will just only make me stronger. Ladies, we need to hang in there and know our self worth.

Hey Weylie! I don't really know how to start up this comment but I just got out of a really toxic relationship that I didn't even know was toxic. My ex boyfriend and I fought constantly and we even broke up about 5 times in our relationship (with thousands of mini fights). We were with each other everyday and I thought that we really were gna be together till the end. We fought every few days, and just two days ago, I couldn't take it anymore so I finally ended it. On the first day without him, I was pretty proud of myself because I saw my value and how much love I can really give to person. I really did fight for our relationship till the end but he wasn't giving in any effort. However, today was just really crappy and flashbacks keep hitting me one after the other. This video really helped me break out from being so caged in my thoughts. So thank you girl! Love you sm!

I agree with you 100%, Weylie! It's good to know that my significant other got my back, but I shouldn't think that he is obligated to do EVERYTHING for me, like drop whatever he's doing just to be at my side 24/7. I've been with my boyfriend for 6 years and he is like my lover/best friend/family. But we also respect our independence because there could be times where one of us can't be there for the other. Some would say to us "aw you guys are inseparable" and others say "ugh they're together all the time," but in the end it should be up to the couple to decide whether or not they need some space. can I just say how much i love how you respond to those comments like "i love you" or "love your videos so much"? because its somehting that every youtuber seems to get, most just jump over it and get right to the question, which is perfectly fine, but i think its something special that every girl talk video you always say "i love you too" or "thank you" ^_^

My bf and I have been together for almost 4 years this upcoming January. And it’s hella true what you said girl. It really is more of choosing to love that person consistently and to grow together as a couple and as individuals choosing to be in the relationship together. And really knowing that your SO is gonna be there with you through the good and bad times, and especially choosing to be in the relationship to keep it going. I really needed this vid yo. Like I was aware about the whole ‘is he really the one’ and all after being in over a year in to two years of being together. But, you really do put it out there for those who are lost and misunderstood about that idea for someone feeling down about things like that in a relationship (in general), you gave that sense of confirmation and I thank you for that. I LOVE YOU WEYLIE♥️

Honestly, I've gained so much experience throughout my time dating, but mostly I would like to believe that the relationship I'm in now is the first ever relationship that felt like a real face smack of one. Throughout 11th grade til now (I'm a 2nd year in college) I've been with the same guy except that this is our 2nd time dating so there was a moment of a break between us. It was the first real heartbreak I've experienced, the first time I've experienced all these relationship problems and learning to communicate and just so much. Even now I still continue to learn more and more and improving myself along with the relationship. I love your relationship talks and funny enough, as I'm working on an assignment I have you on the side just listening to you talk

I love this video so much, more than I actually expected. I usually don't tend to always enjoy relationship advice from online couples because they sometimes make it look like it's all great and rosy, which makes you feel like theres something wrong with you & your relationship when in reality relationships are hard work. Obviously it's down to each individual person how much they like to share but I appreciate SO much that you were so down to earth about it and said ups and downs happen to you too and how to actually get through the downs etc. it made it SO much more real and relatable and I feel like actually gave me advice for my own long term relationship that helped rather than made me feel like it's not good enough, so thank you ❤️

It really resonated with me when you said you knew Wah was the one despite having the same argument... I always come back to the same argument with my boyfriend- he doesn’t have the same boundaries for female friends and relationships as I do. But I know he really is the one for me, and I will put up with the hardships we have to face

On a break with my boyfriend of a year. Nothing was really horribly wrong we just hit a point where he needs to grow in order to give me all the love I need. He finally admitted that he suffers from severe depression and that ultimately affected us. So we decided to take a break. Unfortunately, it feels like a break up and I’m feeling the void. I don’t know what to think because part of me knows that we are perhaps not the best match but I truly felt loved and accepted by him. Ugh this sucks.

yes! thank you weylie! i always love listening to your girl talks. those are such good questions, especially the long term dating, as I am going through one that now about to reach the 2 year mark. I also really like how you mention to stick to yourself, be true about yourself. That is such a good reminder for me, as sometimes I get so attached to my bf. I can't wait for more talks like this. :)

I LOVE YOU WEYLIE(SISTERSFORLIFE)! IVE WATCHED YOU SINCE HS! IM NOW 26!! GIRL, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR RELATIONSHIP VID! I've been with a guy for 7 years and it's not going well. You said on your video if it's not healthy, it's time to leave the past behind and move forward. 7 years is so long for me to just be throw it all away. But I really dont see us being better in the future. It's the same cycle, same arguments and more disrespect. It's a big step but I feel like it's time. Thanks for all your videos and for always being honest in your videos. Thank you for your hard work! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend! -Krysta-
