I've read that apparently Eiichiro Oda works 21 hours a day, six days a week, on One Piece. A few years back he was hospitalized due to his work ethic impacting his health, and apparently friends and family who visited him in the hospital were shocked to see him continuing to work on One Piece even in his hospital bed. I gotta say, I admire his work ethic even though I wouldn't recommend emulating it... Another fun fact is that in every volume of One Piece, there is a section dedicated to showing off fanart. In Volume 23 there was a piece of fan art featured of the character Smoker. A decade later, the fan artist who made it began publishing his very own manga... a manga called Boku no Hero Academia. In Volume 77 of One Piece, Oda gave a shoutout to Horikoshi congratulating him on starting his own manga, and gave him some words of encouragement. Oda also told his readers to check out Boku no Hero Academia. There's a few other manga artists who had their art featured as fanart well before their own careers began (One Piece has been publishing a very long time, after all), but I can't remember who. When Oda is made aware of it, he always gives them support and calls them his "crewmates." Oda seems like a pretty cool guy honestly.

@Zane yeah, re-reading what I wrote, I realise that was pretty high of me to say, but I do like his style. But it’s the fact that some panels, especially for newer arcs, are just so detailed that it’s sort of jarring and overwhelming. And then combined with his simplistic characters? just kinda crazy for me. Again, it was wrong of me to say he wasn’t good, and this sort of stuff is subjective to people so I’m sorry for spouting that like it was fact. Also, I’m pretty new to manga (there’s only so much I can take with the one piece anime), so maybe I’ll get used to it. Not because he perhaps starts to lack of inspiration after 20 years? Not because he starts to be tired physically and mentally of creating the greatest manga for so long? You talked about how time-consuming it would take to draw all those patterns in A Bride's Story, but from her live drawing demonstration she does it by hand at rapid speed (though I guess only for patterns she knows from memory). She also has a huge passion for history and culture, which she gets by reading books. This passion seems to be rivaled only by her love of maids (and not just the typical "anime-style" maids, but actual Victorian maids lol)

@@epistarter1136 well, a word of advice, you want hellsing the manga and hellsing ultimate for the anime, hellsing the anime got the FMA 2003 treatment where the anime caught up with the manga, and reportedly hirano hates that version with a passion. as for the art, i don't know anything about vagabond, so i can't compare those two, but between berserk and hellsing, berserk has more technically impressive art, where every character is correctly shaped and their muscles connect properly, while hellsing is more fantastical and stylized. alucard rarely has anything approaching human proportions, and even the human characters seem to be able to loom over their opponents regardless of relative height and bend at perfect 90° angles in places where there aren't any joints. the first chapter of hellsing definitely has the worst art of the entire series, unlike berserk which stays pretty consistent throughout, hellsing improves as it goes along.

@@ivanbackfromthecardshop8093 The colors are by Araki himself. Part of the reason many people think they're fan-made is a misunderstanding of what it means to say "there are no canon colors". (Take a shot every time I say "Art Style") Horikoshi's art style had a huge impact on my art style. I try to draw all of my characters in a way that is unique to that character from their eyes, their hair, their heights, …. and boob size. If you showed an image of class 1-A from MHA to someone who knew nothing about the show and asked them who was the main character, they would more than likely have a hard time figuring that out and I love art styles like that. I also adore Oda's art style, I never understood why so many other people didn't like it but to each their own I guess. I just have a love for art styles that are like no others. With how many anime and manga exist, a lot of them look the same and can be kind of boring. But their are also so many talented artist with manga and anime. Toriyama, Horikoshi, Oda, and Arakawa had the biggest impact on my art style. The reasons these artists impacted my art style was because I liked to draw Ocs' and I would try to draw them in the art style of the show that they were for. So that really helped me in finding my art style.

You should look for Yoshitaka Amano art, not a manga artist but I love his style. He was the Chara Designer of a lot of Final Fantasy games.
@prinnydood95245 жыл бұрын
I want to see him cover Amano tooand while nothing terribly recent he does do manga, most famous being Vampire Hunter D, but also has done some fantastic illustrations for Marvel books like Electra vs. Wolverine.

You know... they were born knowing nothing. some people dont know how To read and write.. becuz you are not born with this knowledge. You dont remember what it was Like To be infront of this impossible task and saying i dont know how To do all this, but i sure will one day. What i mean is we are trash, and thats good becuz we see it and we improve. From a random human on earth in Québec Canada
@laiofurious64335 жыл бұрын
We always think that when we see others art, just because we know what it takes to do them. Still, if you ever thought you are a decent artist, means you are in the right way! I know is a joke, but there's so much people frustrated and thinking for real they're trash because they don't do things like their favourite artists. For anyone out there reading this, never think that! Keep learning and never EVER compare yourself to others, that'd never be good.
