Kind of cool of Ilya to show a number of failed attempts but got the C&J in the end, true grit! Being this was published in 2014 when he was at his best with much higher numbesr in both lifts, I'm wondering if this was a off-day, coming off an intense training cycle or ...? Wish there were subtitles but great video nonetheless.

Subtitles would be great for the dialogue. Your videos would be better quality than Klokov's at that point.

i can probably sum it all up for u, basicly Ilya and 2 of the lifting buddys in the gym bet that they could outlift him that day(14.03), he was going for 155 kg in snath and 200 in clean and jerk, at snatch he did 150kg and tied with one of the guys, while the last guy won with 165, Ilya did 199kg in clean and jerk, the last guy came first with 165 and 190 and Ilya second and other guy last. Not trying to be rude or anything but is there a reason why he is not going very low in his squats? in my training it is always ass to grass. Just wondering incase im missing something. cheers.

This has been covered on a lot of videos and apparently, Ilya doesn't go down all the way because he feels that he can gets out of the hole easily, its the upper portion of the squat that's harder for him.

From what i heard, he got herniated discs in his lower back, and it hurt to go low with massive loads, but i am not sure this is what i heard

7:10 I think he just goes to where he needs to, and sure that he has the necessarily flexibility to catch and bounce to a place he can begin to squat, just trains the portion of the squat that relies less on connective tissue.

I agree! I think the whole team did after their competitions. He got the whole year this year + once he transition to his strength phase cycle then his lifts should go up. correct me if im wrong!

Piotr A.K. Ilya's training plans are very complex. This is when he first started lifting weights again after a few months of rest from the 2012 OG. He is obviously not in shape here and is not training at full capacity. Ilya gives himself 7+ months of multiple trainings a day with different forms of periodization and specificity in order to properly (and intelligently) build his strength on the clean and jerk + snatch. Also, he went up a weight class and the volume he is doing during this time fatigues his central nervous system greatly, therefore not lifting what he will eventually be capable of.
