He’s like a bel canto singer in that he emphasizes the vowels creating a beautiful flowy open sound. The Voice also has a gritty warmth- like that of a great flamenco singer.

Its funny how each generation finds Journey and Steve Perry...and never feel like it's outdated. The music is timeless. My dad loved Journey...then I grew up on it. And all 3 of my sons (23 years, 19 years, and 16 years) who are all musicians love Journey and turn their friends on to the music. Lol. And my goddaughter is named Journey because her mom loves them too.

He has a friend who treated cancer patients. Steve was looking through their portfolios and fell instantly in love with a woman's picture. They met and were able to spend some time together before she passed away. But she had him make a promise that he wouldn't go back to the isolation he was in and get back into music. Hes kept his promise too.

It saddens me whenever I see great vocal frontmen either leave or get kicked out of the band for ego - tripping band members. It is the fans who pay the price and the music world. When the band gets a new frontman to replace the old one the band never sounds the same, just a cheap imitation of their former glory. Steve Perry is in a lane of his own. There is only ONE Steve Perry.
@DanJackson19772 жыл бұрын
Steve wasnt fired, he quit. They worked him like a dog, blew out his voice, wouldn't give him time to recover.. or get hip surgery in 96.. that was the final straw for him. The new guy is fine though... hes keeping the band alive. Yeah. Its not the same. But it's as close as you're gonna get. Steve is doing his own thing now, and is perfectly happy.

Steve fractured his hip while hiking in Hawaii. He could not tour with the band when they were ready to get back on the road. The other guys all voted for him to have hip surgery, and he wasn't sure about it. But the rest of the people working for Journey all had bills to pay and families to support. Neal and the guys didn't want to shut the band down, so they got another lead singer. Not the first band to do that. I'd say they are all doing fine now, so it's all good.

Adogg: So happy you reviewed this song. Most people started out as Journey fans and then focused on Steve Perry because he was the lead singer. In my teens and college years, I was more into Motown and R&B. In 1984, I went on a date and the guy I was with played this song on the jukebox. I asked him, "Who is this?" After that I was hooked on the voice and then I saw the video in 1985, USA for Africa where Steve had a few solos lines and I finally put the face to the beautiful voice and have been a huge fan ever since. I only listen to the old Journey with Steve Perry and...of course...all of Steve's solo music. Please keep bringing Steve Perry's musical magic to a new generation of fans...like you!

Written by Steve Perry and Randy Goodrum. In the 1970s, Randy wrote You Needed Me for Anne Murray. This is the most famous hit for both of them! 😃😃 How did they meet? 🤔 Steve went to the house 🏠 of Randy. He thought that Steve was a member of Aerosmith. WHAT? 🙄 Luckily, daughter of Randy got her poster of Journey. She pointed to the face of Steve! Randy thought that Steve Perry was Joe Perry! L🤣L Steve wanted to work on songs the next day. But Randy got him to work on that 1st day. 😃 This was the Nashville 🤠 way of writing songs which was new to Steve. Foolish Heart and Oh Sherrie were finished in this writing session. One year after Steve and Randy released these songs and the rest of the solo album (1985), Randy wrote another big hit! Suggested videos 📹: 1 Debarge sings Who's Holding Donna Now. 2 Steve Perry sings I Stand Alone. Cover of Foolish Heart. Strongly 💪 suggested: Morissette Amon sings Foolish Heart 💔 The Phoenix of The Philippines has a twist! 🇵🇭
