I transitioned from female to male at a pretty young age, 14. Thank you Grant for sticking up for us so wholeheartedly. You’re correct about the suicide rates too, 40% of trans kids attempt suicide before 18, I did at 15, because I had nobody with your perspective to stick up for me. Felt really really good to hear you get fired up for trans kids ❤

Grant you beautiful man, I just want to give you a big hug ❤ it's so healing hearing a straight cis man, ex-pastor REALLY get it. Ex - "worship pastor" here, the hypocrisy around persecution was such a big reason that drove me away - And after the Corona vaccine turned me into a trans women, the shift in perspective has been so jarring. The gaslighting like that pastor you showed is so normal, up is down, left is right. Anyways, your two perspectives are incredibly validating and have been so helpful in my journey of healing. Anyways, super appreciated ❤

Hey! Love you guys! Just a heads up to Grant to watch out for some baggage he may still carry from his pastor days regarding 44:35 : Cuba is a majority catholic country and so was its revolution, Vietnam has no problems with Christians either. Catholic and Protestant worship is also allowed in China, its practices are just supervised by the state, not allowing unregistered churches and online evangelization (I wonder why). China even signed and agreement with the Vatican in 2018 to alleviate tensions. Although it's fair to point out North Korea's persecution against Christians I found funny that it seemed just a list of the communist countries from the top of his head, when specially Cuba is a very Christian country, and there are other countries that do much more religious persecution and g*nocide (specially against religions other than Christian). This kind of discourse of communist countries being "faithless and satanic" sprouts from Ronald Reagan in the 80s, when he was being supported by the prosperity theologians to pass neoliberal propaganda and the rise of both neoliberalism and televangelism in the US are deeply connected and its the roots of most conservative talking points to this day.
@DonttalktoGrant2 ай бұрын
Hey Leo! Thanks for watching and thanks for the reply. I assure you those countries didn’t come off the top of my dome nor did I name them because they’re communist, I’m not smart enough for either of those to be true. After watching those TikToks I looked up recent imprisonment of Christians specifically for religious practice and I came across it in all of those countries in the last few years. Although Cuba may be largely Catholic, there is imprisonment of Christians there, more specifically Protestants. Also what about the good Reagan did? Like Bedtime for Bonzo??

I grew up wanting to be a missionary but also being terrified of it. I knew people that would move with their very young children to places where Christian's were prosecuted and it was illegal to gather for a Christian service. I get that if you are indoctrinated into Christianity, you think it's your job to convert everyone. However, as I aged I learned missionary work is essentially a vestige of western colonization. I don't have to agree with the governments of these countries or prosecution of ANYONE. I just now recognize the trauma and ramifications of going to other countries to convert people to your religion and therefore values, customs, effectively diminishing their own culture. My own Congolese family is Christian as a result of "missions" work done by western Christians, and as a result I have no relationship to my pre-colonial spirituality and aspects of what we consider "my culture" are actually western values reskinned (like patriarchy and capitalism). And as a former Christian, it's infuriating that I'm othered by my family over a religious value system that isn't even ours. Also, sometimes these places that missionaries prioritize are still largely MORE unsafe for the same vulnerable identities that are most unsafe here in America. So Christian's may be more prosecuted for trying to evangelize in China or Afghanistan than they are in America, but they're significantly more privileged than most vulnerable in that country (women generally, especially secular or progressive women, queer people, darker skinned people). As a black, cisgender, able bodied, straight passing woman in America I can recognize both my marginalization and my privilege, but Christian's have to be the perpetual victims full stop.

9-11 is honestly the moment where the 90`s ended and the 21st century kicked off. I once caught a rerun of the 2001 VMAs (filmed early september, I think like a week before the towers) and it is the most absolutely eerie and uncanny thing, it almost feels like a message from a parallel universe, because you can kind of see where were headed and imagine where we *could* have gone instead. Not that the cultural trajectory we were on at that time was particularly good, it was still just a lot of frosted tips and belly button piercings, but theres something so ... quaint about it! It might as well have been sepia toned. Every bit of pop culture ephemera from September 10th just got completely crumpled up and tossed out in favour of flags and candles.

Another great episode. I also like your chat with the other pastor Grant, keep these coming because they will help people questioning things. With watching all the triggering content like that guy talking about persecution, you are right, but make sure you don't get too caught up in it, it will stress you out too much. Of course don't ignore it, just balance it with some good music or whatever, being passionate is great but you don't want to burn yourself out on too much toxic content. 💙

This video has sooooooo many segments that I can’t WAIT to use against my southern Baptist family. Y’all speak about Memphis. Well I’m from Nashville. You’re preaching to the choir. I am an English Language Learner teacher. Darbz I have watched IMHO wayyyyy back. Back in the Chan days where Alexis was herself off cam😂 however, this podcast with your brother has not only given me hope - it has given me video evidence and discussion points towards rebuilding that bridge with my family. I have created a whole life on my own because of “Christianity” and it’s “neglect” towards my being. I have to admit. As a EL teacher that is legally am allowed to have a gun on my hip (thank you Bill what. A. Fucking. Dick. Haslam) ,but you don’t fund the grants that will feed and sustain my most basic HUMAN needs : you chose not to give me the legality to feed and educate my students self-sustaining practices?! Are you joking b***h?! Like I’m done. I’m done! Visited Chicago this weekend Darbz and I was so welcomed. No matter where I went. It was amazing. The multiculturalism was so incredibly prevalent. It’s time to change the whole game. Flip it upside down. 2024 years as Jesus was born. It’s time to give equal time, 2024 years, towards womanhood :-) maternity biiiiiihhhh. The old ancient ways shows us that. Why does white Christian nationalism negate that? For control ;)
