Impatient Baby Seal Rescued

We don't often find plastic packing strap entanglements at Cape Cross, but they’re becoming more frequent now which is not a good sign. They are usually found closer to the Walvis Bay harbour, close to fish factories. We already have to deal with an excessive amount of recreational fishing lines at Cape Cross, so we hope packing straps won’t be added to the list.

Yeah... but it's best that they don't know. Every time an animal comes to a human for help... that's a failure on our part. Failure because we've caused this mess, failure because we've engaged animals without leaving them be in their habitats, and triple failure because we're making a mess for the future generations. When Antoine was scanning around, while seal was in the net, you can see a HUGE circle of no seals all around Antoine at the center and a lot of the seals at the edge staring directly at Antoine. Having wild animals associating humans with food hardly ever ends well for the animal. These are wild seals who are naturally weary of dead food that they find in the wild and would have to be trained to accept dead fish from us.
