i have to admit i really did start to feel for Damian towards the end of Batman #658. when he asked his mother "do i have to chose..." you can actually see the little child buried beneath all that scorn and cynicism emerge. in that panel where Talia says- "of course not, Detective. of course not." the way Damian's over-sized hood lies crooked over his eye, gives him a look of vulnerability, as he squeaks out- "Mother?" then the look of sheer panic on his face as the missile approaches, i did find it touching that his first instinct was to run towards and try to protect his mother. despite the fact that it was his Mother that was putting them all in danger. there was some good buried deep within that rotten little scamp. 😛

Myconius Maximus yeah- Damian won me over by the end of Morrison’s run. He’s had a pretty shit life, but he changes his ways pretty much immediately after meeting His Father.

@@ImperiusRex i find that most people that hate Damian Wayne have never read Grant Morrison's Batman run. and that's a shame. not only is it one of the greatest Batman stories of recent years, but it does really show Damian's good side, and strengths as a character. i think he actually gets along better with animals than he does with people. if that's not the sign of a tender & misunderstood soul, then i don't know what is.

In RIP when Batman asks Doctor Hurt if he is Mangrove Pierce, Hurt responds with saying that he skinned mangrove and wore him to mayhems party. I’m guessing that it’s Doctor Hurt wearing mangrove pierce in the video the club of heroes sees.

Never been able to get through any of Grant Morrison’s books unfortunately. There interesting concepts but when I go to read them I struggle . This video makes it nice for me since I get the story without having to struggle to read his words lol thanks boys !! Also hell yeah Fatman on Batman rocks !!

I’m reading through this run right now, I’m still kind of trying to wrap around all of this. I’m approaching Batman RIP, but so far I just feel this rather goofy at points, convoluted, even psychedelic take on Batman that drifts from the more human, grounded takes of Batman that’s been done like people like Scott Snyder and Frank Miller. Like really, Damian selling his soul to the devil or all of a sudden this Jezebel Jet character that I’m still not carrying about because she’s a complete stranger? Can someone please expound upon the appeal of Morrison’s Batman?

Morrison is kind of the omniversal "catch-all" take on Batman. He incorporates every Batman into an all-encompassing take on the character, without really worrying about it being "realistic" or believable. Just pure comic book madness. Not for everyone, but he certainly knows the character.

Only question I have is how some random guy got a exact replica of Batman's suit... Like shock value of batman blowing the jokers head off is cool for like a second but if you think about it for a second, it would have to be a literal exact replica otherwise the joker, whos hard on for batman is bigger then batmites, would have never been fooled

this is all just speculation, but this is just my personal take 🙂 In ‘The Island of Mister Mayhew’ (the beginning of Batman #667) i’m not really sure who the man being hung upside down is. they never actually say this to be Peter Mayhew, but i think it is implied to keep us readers guessing. since he was involved with movies, i have speculated that John Mayhew was wearing a prosthetic skinned mask of himself to throw off Batman and the Club of Heroes. (at the end of Batman #669) there is a dialog between an unseen Black Glove member and John Mayhew. (Unnamed Black Glove Member)- “In today’s contest between Good and Evil, you gambled on Evil, John Mayhew. You LOST.” (John Mayhew)- “No you can’t. No.” (Island blows up killing Mayhew) i’d always guessed this Black Glove member condemning John Mayhew to be Simon Hurt. this is just the perspective i found within my last Morrison Batman read-through. it'll be fun to see if i find another take in my next re-read. :)

@@ImperiusRex VERY TRUE! very true! the man hanging upside down could possibly be a look-alike of Mayhew? it'd also save them the hassle of having to make a mold and then cast a prosthetic. two birds, one stone. no muss, no fuss. except for the poor guy getting skinned. 😛

@@ImperiusRex & @Troy To The Max I JUST HAD AN EPIPHANY!! i’d almost forgotten a very important detail that originally led me to believe that John Mayhew had found a look-alike of himself to skin and wear their face. at the end of Return of Bruce Wayne issue #5, Simon Hurt, John Mayhew and the Black Glove are staging to film a Satanic Ritual and Sacrifice. Marsha Lamarr (a Black Glove member) dressed herself as Martha Wayne and convince Bruce Wayne wear the Bat-costume that Thomas Wayne once wore. she had him to come to the cemetery where he was ambushed, so they could stage a scene where it looked like Martha Wayne was committing murder. that’s one instance where the Black Glove was ready to murder an innocent decoy for their own means. it is speculative, but might not too far fetched to imagine that The Black Glove would employ the same tactic, of murdering a stand-in of Mayhew to throw off Batman and the Club of Heroes. this is concept also shows up in Batman #677. Commissioner Gordon was arguing with the Mayor about incriminating photos of the Waynes. the Mayer shows Gordon a photo of John Mayhew, Mangrove Pierce, Marsha Lamarr, “Thomas Wayne”, “Alfred Pennyworth”, and a brain-dead looking, needle track ridden “Martha”. (ironic side note) the Mayor mentions a Detective hired by Martha Wayne’s family that mysteriously disappeared. We see in the Return of Bruce Wayne #5 that the Detective was actually Bruce himself, lost in time. ok. i'm done. my brain is melted. 😝 Happy Thanksgiving, guys!
