This video is from an out take but I thought it was too important not to share. It's simply a conversation about getting youngsters involved in fly fishing.

encouraging folks to try fly fishing on our local rivers, lakes and reservoirs is one of the reasons i make youtube videos… encouragingly i do see many younger folk out there and giving it a try 👍👍

None of us know how long we have left to enjoy our sport. Every year we lose more of our ole guard be it from health or the chalk streams beyond the pearly gates. We have to bring both our age group back into the sport and most importantly introduce the next generation from children to young adults. Both on the water and behind the vice. Personally I hope that when my health begins to fail again. That at least I will still be able to help encourage others to fish and grow in their journey and help them to try behind the vice. We all remember that first fish. Along with the first fish that you get to the net with a fly you made yourself.

All right... I know fishing in the U.K. and fishing in the states is quite different. However, I think getting youngsters into fishing is very important on both continents. I should have asked this long ago. Why is there, seemingly, so little public water in the U.K.?

The Water Companies own the larger venues and want to make money. The small Stillwaters run fisheries as a business and have to make money for stock fish overheads ect. The rivers mostly run through private land, again the landowners want to make money. It gets better when you get away from the South of England. Many of the rivers fishing rights are owned by fishing clubs and you pay a day ticket price.
