Great to see this content. No one is doing measurements with Vegas! Can’t wait to see more measurement and crossover work on CerwinVega speakers. Thanks! It would be cool to see you try and flatten one out.

Great to know at least some of you enjoy it 😆. I have been playing around a bit with a few different CV xovers the last few days. Had some success and some not so much. I don't know how much content I will do on modding xovers, most CV people would get their panties in a bunch I think lol. But who knows I might do a bit someday.

@@SavingVegas never put much on what others think, and know that if you enjoy it then others will to. The power and clarity of a Vega topped with a smooth frequency response is a force to be reckoned with lol!

I couldn't agree more. Most of my personal CVs are modded in one way or another.

I have AT 8s in my garage. Should we reverse the polarity of the tweeters in both speakers . I also have AT 10s. Should I check those too?

Great content lately. 👌 spectral decay shows the ringing around the hole in the response. It could also be weird stuff like the terminal cup vibrating.
@SavingVegas5 ай бұрын
Yes, the spectral decay has more to do with showing how the speaker will sound in my opinion.
@Shadowban694 ай бұрын
Yeah, it is dri er independent in a perfect test but real world testing also points to a total cumulative effect of the speaker. For example, edge effects on the baffle, cabinet enclosure pannel resonance (we all know about the glue in CV) and weird effects from vibrating terminal cups, insufficient damping material. @SavingVegas

What do you think of the SL 15 they have for sale on their site? Or the XLS 28s?

More of a question, my d2 crossover has a reset button and an adjustment knob, have never seen any like it, is this the first edition?

I like your new direction. With doing your measurements. My guess is would be cone breakup. This woofer should be crossed lower as you mentioned. But having the DT3 tweeter, I dunno how low it can play and if that’s doable.
@SavingVegas5 ай бұрын
I feel like if it was able to play that low they would have designed it accordingly but oh well. They can't all be perfect.
@choronzo2025 ай бұрын
@@SavingVegas I guess they would. One inch soft domes may reach down enough. But this Mylar stuff.. They what they could. But the response of the atw woofer is clean and straight further down! That’s what we all know, the famous vega bass!

I had a question, I have a pair of DX9's connected to a crown XLS1502 amp. The Right speaker cutout. I'm thinking its the fuse. If it is the fuse, where do you get em for the DX9?
@SavingVegas4 ай бұрын
I've gotten them off Amazon before. There is a local electronics store that I get mine from.

Dear saving Vegas. I want to ask you questions about CV's would you have a email? I have two sets and it's about the ohm's. Would appreciate your expertise.😊

If you had a at-8 with both speakers blown would would you do parts wise to get them going ?
@SavingVegas4 ай бұрын
Woofers can be repaired as well as the tweeters. You can get the woofers reconed and you an purchase new diaphragms for the tweeters. Best option in my opinion. The crossovers were designed specifically for those drivers so using other replacements can throw things off and may not sound right.

Since you now have a measuring syst, please let it show below 200Hz. It is gated so, you won't measure room.
@SavingVegas5 ай бұрын
You can't accurately measure below 200Hz without an anechoic chamber.
@choronzo2025 ай бұрын
@@SavingVegas Can you do in room measurements then? It would be accurate for the speaker in your room. How about near field measuring of the woofer?
@SavingVegas5 ай бұрын
Yes one could do a near field measurement and then splice it in.

@@SavingVegas Try it out! The bass response is probably good. Don’t think there is much ringing etc. down low. The cv woofer is normally pretty agile
@SavingVegas5 ай бұрын
That is something I may try in the future. I also want to take measurements of the tweeter with no filter and see how it reacts down low just to see. I don't think I will try modifying the xovers on these ones in particular but it's something I might try one day. I still want to do a custom build one day. I have lots of spare CV drivers laying around and always wanted to build something of my own creation. Now that I can measure these drivers I can find a woofer, mid and tweeter that would play well together. The goal would be to create a speaker with as little parts as possible in the xover that can play flat. I think a lot of the drivers CV used have great potential for an awesome build when price point isn't an issue. But for now I'm just trying to learn as much as I can so I have the ability to do so one day.
