I know there are a number of reasons why Kyrie's resume doesn't stack up to the greatest of all time great guards, but when I watch him play, at his best, I feel like I'm watching one of the best and most complete guards to ever play basketball

Something I've really been impressed by, even in the (relatively) limited minutes of this series that I've watched, is Kyrie's ability to keep his dribble alive and explore multiple different scoring and passing options until one finally opens up. He's not nearly on Nash levels as a passer, but that ability to keep going has really helped the Mavs in late-clock situations, and just from my eye it feels like he's quicker and more decisive with his moves compared to how he was in Cleveland or even Boston.

The saddest part is if the Mavs win, media will give the majority of praise and props to Luka. They will quintuple down on saying Kyrie was the help. Yeah we know it was Luka’s team before Drew got there. Yeah we know “technically” it is still is. But anybody with eyes for the sport understand KYRIE is the Lebron of this team. Kyrie is the reason they are winning. And Kyrie is the one leading them to victory. Luka is doing his thing too. He ain’t as valuable as Kyrie has been though.

I've never liked Kyrie, but not because he didn't have game; you just didn't know what kind of game he was going to bring on any given night. I've seen him play exquisite, damn near perfect basketball, scoring efficiently, executing quickly, competing on defense. I've seen him look utterly disinterested, jacking up bad shots, hogging the ball, lazy on defense. And I've seen him actively sabotage his own team, like he did on the Celtics, refusing to pass, shooting every time he got the ball, and incredibly, running away from opposing players on defense. It was hilarious, and appallingly unprofessional. I came to the conclusion that Kyrie loved playing basketball....but hated being a professional basketball player. Dribbling and shooting? Earning millions? That's fun. Playing defense, executing schemes, sharing the ball, being accountable? All the things crucial to winning? Not so fun, and Kyrie had no appetite for it. That's why he kept finding excuse after excuse NOT to play. So I'm absolutely blown away from I've seen from Kyrie his season. It's the greatest sustained run of form of his career. All the things he once seemed to think were beneath him, he now executes with aplomb. I don't know who said what to him, or what kind of personal epiphany he's had, but its always great to see a player become the best version of himself.

"I've seen him look utterly disinterested, jacking up bad shots, hogging the ball, lazy on defense. And I've seen him actively sabotage his own team, like he did on the Celtics, refusing to pass, shooting every time he got the ball, and incredibly, running away from opposing players on defense. " You do know that he averaged 7 APG during that BOS PO run, right? By far the most in his entire PO career. Never even averaging 5.5 before or after. How people can make up things in their heads, its remarkable. Kyrie tryed to be the 1 in that series, but just couldnt hit anything. His shot was not falling. Not from the midrange, not from 3... but refusing to pass? Shooting every time? What are you talking about? So to say he played unprofessional is just plain stupid! He just wasnt good. Was he a good defender? No... he wasnt in Cleveland either, or in Brooklyn. He is now, cause Dallas has created a team and culture that he can thrive in. He knows (and trusts) Nico Harrison for well over a decade. Kidd was his favorite Player growing up in New Jersey, when he played for the Nets. Not to mention that Kidd also had his fair share of scandals back in the day, so he gets what Kyrie has gone through and knows how to overcome those narratives. Cause he did it himself. And probably most important, Luka isnt an all overshadowing entity that wants to controll everything, like Lebron. He doesnt care about Media narratives, or becoming the most influencial guy in the business. Opposite to media narratives he also isnt a ball hog and basically has no ego! He just wants to win. And for years the best way to do it was Luka making most of the decision and handling the ball as much as possible. So overall there is basically no national media coverage in Dallas all year. And this team also had an internal meeting in early March, when they were open about anything and formed a bond that you see today. Kyrie feels safe and that people understand him. Thats different then the Media circuss in Cleveland around Lebron, or in Boston when he was overwhelmed with the burden of being a Franchise player, or the Media narratives around the big 3 and his freaking god given right to not get injected by untested drugs! Before you say it, I am Coof vaccinated and got even boosted. But that was MY decision, MINE! How can a goverment even think about forcing people to test drugs? I know this happened before, in Nazi Germany, and Mao China... and now they made a villan out of him... Kyrie found a place where people like him and let him be, where he gets respect and can also respect the people around him, and in a view weeks, noone in the Media will even talk about Dallas and Kyrie anymore. He can just be Kyrie again. With his Moccasin sneakers, burning sage and religious belives...
