Genuine question: why do Christians feel the need to alert everyone to the fact they’re Christian before they say something nice? Was that modifier really necessary? It’s kind of like saying “in spite of the way you are I still deign to like you”. I promise you it never comes across as generous but patronizing.

Nicolas, I agree with you. It seems that you and I have lived similar lives. Even as an American, I visited Chatsworth (several times). I have friends who live in the Peak district. Pre-covid, I spent a month each yr in France, often Paris. I've been there 15+ times. Not a lot for someone in Europe. Love the comment about embracing a dark space. I live in 190 yr old house, the entrance hall is 4 x 15 meters, 3.6 meters high. Rooms open from it but there's only doors with sidelights at each end. It is painted dark forest green. All the woodwork is white. When built, the entrance wasn't intended to welcome; it was intended to impress (intimidate?). I decided not to brighten it up. I just accepted as is and live with it.

Hi from Annie nice to hear you answering some questions, people can get rather nosely can't they at times. That four poster bed looks great and the two dogs have it made there they look so cute. Yes there is a fine line between comfort and style or fashion etc. I think comfort is the most important of all. I have learnt that over the years not that many victors come here These days but years ago they did and I used to think style first but now I thin comfort is first. With dar spaces I naturally want to brighten them up a bit florals and lights are easy to do floor and wall colors are also important. What you said is live each day for itself stay in the moment is best advice for us all.
