We all related to Gabby's story, so many layers, twists and turns. In my opinion i feel that this story got more attention than others due to her traveling across the country. We rarely hear of situations that take place within their local community. From Florida to California, we were all looking for that white van. THANK YOU for remembering her story. 😇 GABBY PETITO GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

Uh Jeremy, Gabby got attention because she was on social media which they didn't have in the 90s and it was a double manhunt because everyone knew she was with Brian with more than one jurisdictions involved and you failed to mention that Gabby's family are aware they got more attention and that is exactly why they are helping charitys raise awareness for missing people all over your country.

@Moonstone115, Thank you. They neglected to mention that Gabby had a following on Social Media, so her disappearance was known to many people right away. Brian's parents behaved atrociously by ghosting Gabby's family and refusing to cooperate with LE. I can't even imagine the loss they have sustained. I think the Laundries knew Brian killed Gabby, even if he told them it was an "accident" There were so many ways the Laundries could have helped the situation: flying out to Wyoming, and cooperating with LE so Brian would be in custody right away, etc. Communicating immediately and honestly with Gabby's family. It would be difficult, but doing the right thing isn't always easy. The Laundries have a lot of explaining to do!

I know it’s a lawyers job to defend their client but they shouldn’t be allowed to hide a crime either. There wasn’t any help for Gabby because she was already dead but at least Brian would have had to answer for what he did instead of taking the cowards way out. I think it’s so unfair that he gets the last word as to what happened to Gabby in his supposed confession. I hope his parents lose everything they own for pain and suffering they caused Gabby’s family.

Even letting her live with Brian and his parents in FL was much more reasonable as she had contact with adults and a community for support. Gabby called her mother from the backseat of the police cruiser. These statements are from the Petito v Moab lawsuit. 3. Gabby contacted her family to tell them that the couple had been fighting, that Brian had hit her, and that the police had been called. The family immediately responded by beginning to arrange for Gabby to fly home and to have her van shipped home, to separate her from Brian. 98. Gabby then called her parents. 99. On that call, Gabby’s parents demanded that Gabby fly home to get away from Brian, offering to pay for her ride to Salt Lake City and her flight home. But upon learning that the police were involved, Gabby’s parents accepted Gabby’s assurances that she should continue her trip. Gabby’s parents relied to their detriment on the police officers involved to evaluate the situation and intervene as necessary to protect Gabby. Me too. City of Moab Utah Statement On Investigative Review of Aug. 12 Petito-Laundrie Incident "After a formal complaint was filed with the Moab City Police Department, an independent law enforcement agency has completed a thorough review of the August 12, 2021 domestic violence incident involving Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie. The independent agency’s investigative report finds that the officers who responded to the incident made several unintentional mistakes that stemmed from the fact that officers failed to cite Ms. Petito for domestic violence. The City acknowledges that this finding may raise questions, and the issue is examined extensively in the investigative report. The report recommends improvements to both the policies and the training of the Moab City Police Department. These recommendations include: providing additional training in domestic violence investigation, as well as additional legal training to ensure officers understand state laws and statutes; conducting an overall policy review; conducting a software review; and strengthening the review process for incident reports. The investigative report also finds that a statement was never obtained from the original 911 caller, and recommends that be done to make the incident report more complete. The City intends to implement the report’s recommendations. Based on the report’s findings, the City of Moab believes our officers showed kindness, respect and empathy in their handling of this incident. As the Moab City Police Department continues its daily mission to serve our community, efforts are underway to provide additional resources and tools to assist them in addressing domestic violence incidents. Plans are in place to add a trained domestic violence specialist to oversee incidents investigated by Moab officers. We also will implement added and ongoing training and testing to ensure that the officers understand policies and procedures. The City of Moab sends our sincere condolences to the Petito family. Our hearts go out to them as they continue to deal with the tragic loss of their daughter." From Combined Statement and Investigative Report - Petito-Laundrie Incident - Moab Utah Police Website

The Petitos are claiming that the Moab Police did not follow Utah law and give Gabby a lethality assessment. But that would not have happened because Gabby admitted twice to hitting Brian first and was determined to be the initial aggressor. You're not following the case well. Initial 911 call was witness seeing Brian hitting her. The only account of her hitting him was when she was locked out of car. He took her phone, vehicle, discarded her belongings outside the van and locked her out. He posed a threat of abandonment and endangered her wellbeing. "Petito was hitting Laundrie in the arm and/or face while trying to get into the van." "it was as if the guy was trying to leave her, and maybe take her phone." At one point during the encounter, the witness says he overheard Petito say to Laundrie, "why do you have to be so mean?"
