In-Depth Review - The Black Bibs bib shorts and base layer

Today, we take a look at "The Black Bibs" premium line bib short and their $20 base layer. We'll compare them to our favorites, Castelli. Thumbs up! Thanks for the review. I've been using their Plus version for several months now and my PI Pro's just bit the dust. Ordered the shorter Ultimate since they had those in stock. Used to live in Tacoma waaaay back in the day. Miss Point Defiance, Puyallup Fair and all the rest... not the rain lol. Thanks again.

I like the $40 version for the indoor trainer. The chamois is nice on the upgraded model, the ultimate especially. I have problems with these bib riding outdoors on hot days. The fabric doesn’t wick well. Sweat/moisture pools in the groin area and causes really bad chaffing. They also don’t hold up well in the wash. They break down quickly vs other bibs in my opinion.

I'm glad you did this video. I just order 3 of the $40 version for Zwifting. I saw your response with the sizes. It was hard to tell what size to get for me based on their sizing charts. I am 6' 164 lbs. My champion Systems bibs (team kit) are larges. I therefore went with that. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days whether I chose correctly.

hi i'm looking at the ulimate bibs and wonder if i'm in between sizes XS and S, go one up? i'm pretty skinny but taller than the height on their sizing chart. what was your experience in fit? i like a race fit, no flapping.

I personally ordered the small and I was kind of on the line between s and xs. When I order my next pair, I'm getting xs. The small still fits okay but for more race oriented feel, I'm personally going to lean towards the slightly smaller size. Not sure if that helps...

interesting im about 5 foot 5. 126lbs is this chamois good for training hard i wear CRAFT "train pack bibs they fit like a glove aero slim fit body mapped bibs) would i be a smallin the black bibs or XS?

I would go by their sizing chart. It's very accurate. The chamois is great! Almost as good as my best, race level chamois.

We're both about 5'9.5". I'm 140 pounds and he's about 115. Mine is a size small and his an extra small.

I made the mistake of getting the regular $40 with no grippers, huge mistake. The ride up on my leg by at least 2 to 3 inches while riding. I don't have big legs, so I am hoping the one with leg grippers 100% don't do this because when they ride up it bunches the chamois.

Yeah, I have a pair with no leg grippers and they do ok, but I would stick to the “plus” model in the future. I have a pair of each level and they get better the higher you go

@@darinsteele7091 I’ve always found them to grip well. If you are doubting the sizing definitely reach out to the company email. They may suggest that you order the long inseam version of the next size down.

Bought a pair after watching this review. 80 euros waisted. The pad is too "bouncy" and t stitching gave chafing on my inner thigh. These bibs aren't worth the hype imo
