Delta has invested substantially in upgrading their planes, they’ve expanded the inflight entertainment and they’ve made the app extremely useful for travel day experiences. Those are all pretty meaningful changes. I am assuming you just mean adding more space to seats, but that one is never gonna happen.

Imagine sitting on a flight from JFK (New York) to MIAA (Manila), and there's a touchscreen flashing advertisements for airline credit cards; in-flight cinema; in-flight arcade games; and now betting on Premier League matches. Between fatigue, boredom, and perhaps near-drunkeness the average passenger may indulge in the gamble while flying. Then they'll fall asleep, and by the time they touch down in the Philippines, be out of a bundle of money that they could have been reserving for their excursion throughout the 7000+ islands in Southeast Asia.

AirBus A350-1000, I’ll miss the A340-600’s these are replacing on Lufthansa. The seat back screens in most airlines that have screens (JBU, DAL, idk if UAL has them anymore, AAL on their wide bodies) are touch screen. At one time the small 4:3 JBU ones weren’t but that was before they did a major tech refresh in the mid-2010s.

Gambling is a dirty business. It always has been and it always will be. That law is as unfaltering as Newton's Third Law of Motion; "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." Why we think we can introduce more vice into the culture and give it greater access to the average person without some sort of equal and opposite reaction is beyond me. Good luck with that.
@buddy_love19 күн бұрын
Yes. It's very legal and should be. Since the US wants to be weird about it (since the 60's) other places will make it accessible. Here it is - as long as the flight does not begin, terminate, or fly over a US State it is legal and go to go. Hopefully this will expand to include the states. Enjoy the flight.

If gambling becomes legal on flights, will states where play days over require the airline to track any winning and where the plan was so they could receive tax revenue? What if the plane is over a state that doesn’t permit gambling, does the gambling turn off while over that state’s airspace. As we saw with Internet purchases, states will want their tax cut.

@ did some research. Gambling, in general, is defined as risking money or something of value on an event with an uncertain outcome, where chance plays a predominant role. However, non-monetary activities, such as friendly wagers for airline miles or upgrades, might not fall under traditional gambling definitions, as these are not usually considered "monetary stakes." So yes, grey however this would not be a “friendly wager”

Making gambling illegal will have similar consequences that Prohibition (alcohol) and the “War on Drugs”. Gambling, Alcohol, and illicit drugs are all vices. They all have arguably no redeeming qualities towards consumption, but all making them illegal will do is force people to consume these products in a more dangerous way. We should take these lessons and regulate gambling similar to the way we regulate smoking (tobacco).
