@@panzershrek7942 more problems: - Avoid arguments? So we're just meant to swallow people's stupidity and mediocrity? If shutting up, listening and smiling is all I need to make "friends" (shallow ones at that it seems like to me), then I'd much rather be alone. I cannot imagine myself in my daily job not calling out people for their stupid shit. If I did not, I'm not sure how many people would die as a consequence. But I guess people don't care about the therac 25 not happening all over again, because they'd much rather not have their feelings hurt, it seems. And that is just in my line of work... if i cannot tolerate people like that on the job, imagine having to tolerate them on my personal life. Mission impossible. - Give sincere and honest compliments is something that I feel like I could genuinly do. If there ever was anyone I met that I had anything good to say about them. I've only met one person in my entire life who was deserving of any compliments for their actually amazing accomplishments. Am I just meant to lie to people to their face and compliment their mediocre work? Again, this comes full circle to my previous point. I'd much rather be alone than to lie to people for the sake of getting fake, shallow friends who only care about their egos.

The tip about letting people talk about themselves actually helped me a lot when I first started socializing (in college). Unknowingly encouraging others to talk about their life and interests, because I didn't have any of my own, got me a good friend. And the smile... At some point, after talking to my therapist and getting rid of toxic people in my environment, I actually started smiling more and began enjoying every day I lived. Then I developed a habit of wishing others a good day: drivers, cashiers, just random people I've encountered. The amount of smiles I got in return and still get to this day is amaizing. Also, I think the key is confidence. Not necessarily bold confidence: just understanding that your emotions and feelings, requests and wants are valid enough to be sure you have all the right to communicate to another person. Being sure you can freely talk to someone, make mistakes, be slightly weird or unusual, and it's okay. That helped me overcome shit ton of fears. To an extent when people don't believe me saying I'm an introvert.

"Do I like myself?" is a question everyone should ask themselves if they want to be loved/liked. The first and foremost step for making others like you is to love yourself and I'm not talking about the "toxic self-love" advice rather to become a version of yourself that you can love. Trust me if you achieve this there is nothing that can hold you back. "Treat others like the way you expect them to treat you" can be applied here. Talk to people like the way you expect/like them to talk to you. You need to think over all this to get the idea but You've free will, think about it yourself! These are just my thoughts. I apologise for any mistakes made and to anyone I have hurt through my horrible writing. Amazing advice! I love all of these. they all seem so simple yet so hard to implement

great advice but i have a little remark here :) Don't only talk about the other person all of the time. Yes, they will like you for listening to them, but they won't actually care about who YOU are, only what you can do for them. It is so incredibly important to have mutual relationships. Feel free to share a little story from your life, and they will feel closer to you, because they get to know you better.

Thanks for commenting, I have a question related to the first principle, if we like someone and we are utilising the first principle during a conversation, for how many occassions we should utilise this and when should we start talking about ourselves to create a balance, because if we keep questioning them or keep extending the conversation from sub-topics picked from the main topic of the conversation then it may get boring or the other person will get suspicious. I know that it is when they are going to naturally ask about us then we have to answer naturally and honestly, and I also know we shouldn't tell everything at once, share your insight please.

The way I win/avoid arguments is by asking thought-provoking, open-ended questions about the other person’s position. It’s often as simple as asking, “Why?” Literally, a sincere “why” will get the other person thinking, and their answer is usually pretty interesting. Because most people put so little critical thought into the positions they hold, a few probing questions is often all it takes to either get them on my side or, at the very least, make them far more open-minded about the subject.

Adding on to the 5th one, letting yourself genuinely laugh. So many times people feel too serious about a lot of things; smile to engage the other person, laugh at semi-funny things to disarm them, and don't take life too serious; laugh at your own goofs!

The most likeable guy in our year isn’t handsome but he is so charming and full of charisma, while also being really bright and funny. I like him a lot but despite being a pretty person, i mess up, and either dont get a joke or don’t respond in a way that makes him want to be friends with me. Id say im one of the least popular in my year.

I have adapted in life in such a way that I somewhat know how to make people like me. But after making everyone like me I realised I wasn't ever able to make actual close friends or people climbed over my head and took advantage of me so you should be careful of that. I would recommend you to have enough self satisfaction that you wouldn't need many people to like you. I of course would not recommend everyone hating or not liking you also, it's hella lonely.

There is this one girl in my class that just makes my day better when I’m around her. She has a sweet smile, always helps others out, makes amazing grades but never brags, and somehow makes me feel really comfortable and heard when I talk to her. She just has this way with people and as someone with social anxiety it makes me kinda jealous 😭

It kind of bother me how some people need these tips, this is basically being a decent and grounded being. Understanding that you're clearly not the main guy in the story and obviously no one is, while trying to make it in a world were most of the people you will encounter actually behave like they are. Growing up without love, without incentives to actually like to learn and good rolemodels can really ruin a life. We're all just passing by, only one life. Being caring, loving and treating others how you want to be treated is amazing. Weaponized ego is huge in our days, and it used to hurt me a lot how specially men let their ego ruin their lives, instead of sharing their feelings, their fears and asking for a hand.

i dont know. if those principles should make people like me, then i dont want to be liked personally i hate compliments, they are just words. it feels like a cheap method to get other person's attention and not arguing with people?? we cant avoid an argument completely, that will make us be dominated in every field and forcing a smile... if i am not feeling like it i am not going to force it. that would be completely against my true feelings... i would prefer to look for things that make me sad and fight the sadness in that way, not by ignoring my sadness but i completely agree with seeing things from other perspectives. we shall look at the world more broadly. that is part of my philosophy
@tiranito2834
@tiranito2834 4 ай бұрын
Completely agreed with this comment tbh. First time in this comment section that I have nothing to argue against, ironically. Like, it is so obvious that the summary of this video is "to make people like you, just avoid confrontation", literally, just put up a facade, feliz falsedad, and that's it, no problems whatsoever, you'll be the most popular guy in town. Whenever someone needs a person to step all over, that is... Falsely complimenting people, being all smiles and never saying what you truly think for the sake of avoiding arguments and simply telling other people that they are correct in every single instance is something that I find completely despicable. Not only will it lead to false, shallow friends, but it also is counter productive from the point of view of wanting to achieve some kind of meaningful connection or literally any progress in any aspect of life. If you are convinced that someone is wrong and are bound to f- themselves over, then why should I just nod and smile as if nothing was wrong? That's not what a real friend does. I'd rather be alone tbh. Not to mention, imagine if everyone just falsely agreed with everyone else and never tried to argue anything. Where would humanity be? Why has human progress stagnated so much outside of highly specialized fields? Because most people are fucking mediocre and simply try to avoid confrontation, that's why. That confrontation being any form of hardship, including any argument, debate or even just plain learning. But I guess making false friends matters more than becoming a real person. And, as you said, literally the only point that I can agree with is trying to see things from others' point of view. In my line of work tho, that is mostly to try to understand just how they came up with such an incredibly stupid and absolutely deranged idea.

@@tiranito2834I agree with you. Last year I read this book and tested it out. To be honest, it worked well. I made several new friends and know more people. As time went by, I grew closer to one of the friends I met using these principles. But later I realized this relationship was start/ based on “me being a listener”. So she is used to tell me everything that happened to her, yet she wouldn’t respond to me the same way I did. Though the effect of these principles can vary from person to person, and I might have much more to learn regarding human relationships, I still think there are high chances that you make fake connections rather than genuine ones .
