This is Part 2 of my search for Shark in Brazil. This footage was captured during my visit to Fernando De Noronha. It is an island located 300 miles off the northeastern coast of Brazil.
Included in this footage is the first aerial documentation on record of tiger sharks attempting predations on sea turtles. As a result, continued monitoring of this bay has ensued by local scientists and the beach is now closed to human water activities.
THIS VIDEO IS A COLLECTION OF MY PRELIMINARY OBSERVATIONS. FURTHER STUDY BY SCIENTISTS IS ONGOING & NEEDED.
Co-existing with the sharks on the island is a major goal of local of the research being conducted there. Please refer to the studies below to learn, not just about the uniqueness of the tiger sharks at this island, but to also learn about the research being conducted there today.
Current Research Projects include tagging via satellite transmitters to track movements in order to understand if sharks are actually becoming residents, if there are sharks that migrate and others don't, and what might encourage them to migrate or not.
Furthermore, there is evidence of females with courtship marks. As a result, scientists want to understand whether they remain in the archipelago, feeding and gestating their babies in these productive waters, or if they migrate to other places.

I have seen on youtube turtle rescues, where sea turtles are stuck between big rocks or reefs when the tide goes down. The sea turtles are now stranded and either wait for the next high tide or are rescued by people. This could be the reason that it happens. Very interesting information you have gathered. Thanks for sharing.

So beautiful to watch from your drone. Love the ocean wave sounds. I really enjoy your channel learning so much more about our oceans. I grew up swimming the Pacific Ocean off central California . The further out I went, the more I’d enjoy it. If I knew the great whites were traveling along the coast so close and so often, I’m sure I would have not swam out so far. Only saw one once about 10 feet out from me. It just kept swimming north, paying no attention to me. I stood still in the water about 5 feet deep. Not because I was taught to do this, but out of sheer amazement. This was back in the days when my sisters and I (starting around age 7) would walk to the beach for the day…. Stay all day… without our parents. This was normal back then.

What an advantageous view. I notice that the turtles have a very quick reaction movement to tilt their bodies so its shell faces the shark's mouth at the right time. I imagine as water gets shallow is harder for turtles to turn without hitting the bottom. Also breaking waves must have effect on these turns to avoid the shark's jaw. Interesting to see. I watched now 3 times to see if i see a pattern

Amazing. this is pure beauty. Thank you for sharing this footage for free. This footage is a wonderful gift. 🙏 Shark Week needs to hire you. You are objective and just show nature as it is, with no political bent like the Discovery Channel tries to soft-pedal to the masses. These drones really opened my eyes to how many sharks there really are. There has been a push over the years to save the sharks for decades. I suspect there are way more sharks than hard-core "supposed to be objective with the data experts" would like us to believe.

Oh mate, thank you for sharing such amazing footage, and I truly appreciate your narration, too. I understand the turtles tilt to present too broad a target to bite down upon. I wonder if corralling the turtles to the shallows is an attempt to remove that defence. Then again, would it then be too shallow for the shark. Regardless, thank you again for such fascinating content.

It seems possible that some tiger sharks cooperate to gain advantage in a feed. In one of those 'Shark Week' shows, at a place called 'Headstone Bay' at Australia's Norfolk Island, farmers dump cow carcasses into the ocean and the tigers are always around for a feed. This last year, it seems teenage white sharks decided to try to 'crash' the party. The tigers assembled in very large numbers (40+) and fed in an orderly manner: a top down column of circling tiger sharks, where each one fed in turn. But at the base of that assembly was a very large, very scarred Tiger. The film makers opined that the tigers arranged themselves to shut out any intrusions from white shark and the big tiger is there to keep the white sharks from trying any 'polaris style' runs on the carcasses.

What you capture for us too witness is utterly amazing...!!! Thank god that turtle escaped i know it's nature. I have 30yrs experience in the avian field having worked "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey. But seeing that burst of speed from both species was incredible. How the sea turtle flipped itself too expose it's shell to the shark's mouth in defense. Very similar to what doves and pigeons do when attacked by a falcon or hawk. They leave them with a missing tail or a bunch of down feathers and will sometimes escape. Natures "defense mechanisms" of various animals is truly astonishing. Especially, when you can capture it while it's happening as you do. Keep up the great work.

Carlos, if you see this, would you consider including the depths of the water you believe the sharks and other species are moving through? I don't even mind if you use inches and feet 🦶🦶 to describe said water depth. 🤔. Okay, 'nough of the emojis. I'm not expecting you to get in the water with a tape measure though if you do, make sure you give someone the drone to record it. PS: In all seriousness, thanks for sharing your visit to Fernando De Noronha with us. It looks absolutely breathtaking in its beauty. (I was going to insert a picture of my face to indicate breathtaking beauty but it doesn't come in emoji size.)
