Joe Cocker absolutely blows this song out of the park. One sultry song, about stripping..? This song was covered by Etta James, Tom Jones and featured in the films 9 1/2 weeks and The Full Monty. All the instruments are so perfect and Joe's raw vocals sensational. Glad you kept your clothes on Harri, lol. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Dave. Great rockin tune!!! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Looks like Stevie Ray Vaughn on the right on guitar. Can that BE? If so, with Cocker, the sax player, the band, and the ladies singing, well good God, that audience was surely in the perfect place at just the right time. Thanks, Harri.

I am from NOLA & we had a place in an old warehouse on the river. It was ‘69-70’s. It wasn’t a huge place so watching the bands were up close and personal. Tickets were 5-7 $. We just sat on carpet scraps on the floor. The Allman Brothers were the house band. I saw Joe Cocker and so many other bands. The coolest place ever!❤

Sounds like There Image down in Miami Beach back about the same time period. Was a converted bowling alley. Saw lots of great bands there. We got in free by sweeping up the place after the concert.

A few months before the untimely death of Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1990. I watched greatness. Joe Cocker was touring with Stevie. Joe opened up the show and tore the house down I thought how much better can it get. Well, Stevie came on and took it to another another.

I grew up with Joe Cocker's music. He was an English singer known for his gritty, bluesy voice & dynamic stage performances that featured expressive body movements. He recorded a few Beatles' songs "With A Little Help From My Friends", "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" & "Something". Other hits were "Up Where We Belong" (a duet with Jennifer Warnes), "Delta Lady", "Darling Be Home Soon", "Cry Me A River", "Feelin' Alright", "The Letter" etc.

Written by the great Randy Newman, who says that he wrote it as a young man to make fun of old creeps, but now that he's an old creep, he thinks differently about it :) You should really explore more of Newman's stuff, especially his early stuff, often deeply ironic, such as The Big One and Sail Away

I worked as a bouncer at a strip club in the 80's and there was one girl who used this song as her signature music. She really embodied the lyrics of the song as she shed her garments...very lithe and supple....I'm sorry, what were we talking about?
