That second shot of the take-off is simply stunning. I had a hard time believing it was fake. If you do end up doing a tutorial, please try and explain that one! Great work! - From one VFX artist to another :)

Another lightwave user, cool. What are your opinions on it, I recently changed from C4D to Lightwave and I like it because of it's regular render engine but still C4D has interactive changes such as arrays and the oh so dope title designer which I really do miss sometimes. Still lightwave has a great workflow on some points.
@IndependentVFX11 жыл бұрын
Hey Ignace, Ive been using Lightwave for years (since version 5) and I havnt really used any of the others so its hard for me to say objectively, but I really like Lightwave - I havnt found a reason to switch yet. Although... I have been playing around with Blender and I think it is really amazing. If I was going to switch 3D apps, I would go to Blender. Its free and its going from strength to strength.

Dear Scott, I can't wait for you next tutorial. You have done an amazing job using the jet strike pack. I think everybody is waiting for a complete MIG 29 takeoff tuto because it looks, by far, the best scene available on youtube. Keep us posted as soon as you can. Cheers, Edouard

The three clips in the intro are without a doubt the most realistic Jetstrike clips out there The takeoff clip is particularly spectacular. You got some badass comping skills, mate. Bowing my head here.
@IndependentVFX11 жыл бұрын
Thanks Farmfield, thats very encouraging to hear. Put quite a lot of hours into them so Im glad it was worth it. I'll be covering the takeoff shot in a tutorial soon.
@Farmfield11 жыл бұрын
As easy as it is to do tut's on the tech, tips & tricks, it's so much harder doing tut's on having an eye - or developing an eye - for doing this. Setup's are easy, making them look good is hard, right?. ;) Also, as much as I love having the possibility to do some 'real' 3D inside AE, the last setup I did almost made me want to scrap E3D for good, hehe... As soon as you start pushing the limits even a little, AE's 3D space quickly show how utterly useless it is. :P
@IndependentVFX11 жыл бұрын
Farmfield Absolutely Farmfield, you are right. Personally I think the key is finding the right reference photos of the real thing - similar angles and lighting situations to what you are planning to do in CG. Without that you are just guessing or using your imagination. You are only as good as your reference material. And "developing an eye" comes from looking at tons of reference in my opinion.

Hey man thanks for the review, I am really debating if it is worth the money, but this helps a lot! Are you planning on making a tutorial? Hey Skully, thanks for getting in touch. Im so glad you are enjoying the tuts. We will try and post part 2 of Realistic Jet Scenes this coming week. Day job is keeping me far too busy, I wish I had more time for KZbin. I'm getting this for Christmas!!
@IndependentVFX11 жыл бұрын
You are in for hours of fun Ream Productions. If I can make a suggestion - its really worth getting the Sky Pack bundle (Jet Strike and Flight Kit combined), the sound effects are really great and the sky maps and aerial explosions really extend the functionality of Jet Strike.
@daftpunkdude12311 жыл бұрын
I had just received jetstrike and the flight kit for Christmas, I have had issues with it, every time I open element 3d and click on a jetstrike model, everything crashes, even after effects, and I also have a question about the flight kit, how do you load in the sky maps into after effects.
@IndependentVFX10 жыл бұрын
Ream Productions - it sounds like the crashing issues you are having may be performance issues with your graphics card or your system. Do your system specs meet the minimum system requirements for Element? Are you on Mac or Windows? I think the best would be to contact videocopilot for support.
@OstriMonk10 жыл бұрын
The same thing happened to me. It's not your graphics card, just update element to 1.6.2. You need it for Jetstrike.... and its a free update.
