My fav video so far. A chronology laid out like this makes it so easy to see the progression of ancient indian history Indus valley Mahajanpads Magadh - haryanka, Sishunaga, nanda, maurya After the maurya Im the northwest Indo greeks Indo persians Saka Kushan Deccan - satvahana , western kshatraps East- kalinga South- chera chola pandya Central india- sangha followed by smaller republics, nagas Until the rise of the guptas. Gives a picture of how the history of india evolved

Ur videos ar fascinating, rarest of it's kind and much needed. Can you give some infos. on the significant, remarkable changes in over all material culture, during the transition from 1BC to 1CE, The classical era, specifically the later and post Gupta era, and few important regions or empires in the early medieval period India, specially the eastern part, The Pala and Sena period.... costumes, overall attire, armours etc. Like we do not get much references from sculptures of how Royal men and Women from the Pala dynasty or may be the Gajapati dynasty of Kalinga (when they were having constant clashes with Vijaynagar Empire, during the eraly Delhi Sultanate rule) would look like or dress. What were the textiles just before or during the initial phase of Islamic cultural influence. How can we distinguish between a man from 11th or 12th century Bengal and Orissa or between Orissa and adjacent parts of South India, or between Bengal and Bihar. Majorly there are sculptures of deities, Gods and goddesses

G.S Sardesai's New History of the Marathas is a great book to read about that it covers that entire period of Maratha History. If you're looking for the Peshwa era and Panipat, Uday S. Kulkarni has written some great books on it. You can find his books on Amazon.

Iam curious to know about pre mayuran period of southern india especially in deccan,, We found some brahmi inscription in South india that predates ashokan edicts., But we don't find any writen inscription in mahajanapad And even in ashokan edit they mention about pandya, chola, keralaputra, and sathiyaputra, who are this sathiyaputra? I think we still missing something, can you agree with me jay?
@JayVardhanSingh
@JayVardhanSingh 2 жыл бұрын
The dating of the Brahmi inscriptions from South Indian and Sri Lanka doesn't necessary show that these are older than Ashokan period. Some scholars have pointed out that the methodology wasn't correct. Even if you believe that the methodology was correct, the dates given in are in range. So we don't know the exact date here also. In my view, there're enough evidence to suggestion that Brahmi was introduced in South India around the 4th/3rd century BC. About the question of not finding written evidence. Although this is true, but when we look at Ashokan inscription which are the oldest incriptions available. You see a script that has matured. This means that the script was used before this period and it had ample time available for its development. Most scholars are of the opinion that Brahmi emerged around 8th -6th century in Northern India. About Sathiyatputra, there's debate. Most likely they were the minor chiefs of Tamilakam who later lost their power because of the rise of the three crowned kings.
