Hi Shantanu, myself and my husband Mr. Vivek Ghate watched this two hour long video ' Building India ' . We really liked it. We can connect with all events told by Mr.Kiran Deshpande, we belong to the same generation . I did my M.Phil History , and teaching History , I want to appreciate Mr. Kiran Deshpande because he is explaining events chronologically , with a balanced view, critical evaluation is superb 👍

When i was 21 going into my first job, my late father said one line to me which stayed with me forever. He said, "A true gentleman doesn't beg, borrow or steal." The last 2mins reminded me of him. Thanks Shantanu for this.

Hi Shantanu, Super insight from your father, absolutely loved this episode. Actually, ICF is Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. And the GM, Kiran sir mentioned is Mr. S Mani an absolute superb leader who got the Train-18 project done within the promised timeframe with all kinds of budget constraints & bureaucratic red tape. You should have him on one of your episodes, another truly inspiring personality who delivered on the Train-18 project when no one thought it was possible to do in India. Keep up the great work Shantanu!!

I am genuinely impressed with this exchange. A father and son exchanging a dialogue of how Deshpande household has seen the world change through different generations. Chronicles of India from 1950s- present. Thanks for uploading this. I am sure this would encourage more sons to have such conversations with their father.

Very positive and patriotic. It has changed my views in many fronts. Thank you!

Amazing podcast Shantanu!! I always used to feel that Indian politics is like a river - irrespective of the political party all governments have done good/amazing work and moved nation forward! Nobody else could've aptly explain better than Kaka. I felt like I read a book rich of impartial insights on India since independence. Totally inspired by his expectations from we the people of India - its easy to say what government hasn't done but very aptly put what we all as a nation should do . Would love to hear him more ..

Many guests on podcasts have been saying that India's time has come and that India will be a game-changer in the next 20-30 years. The economy and purchasing power are flourishing, making this a golden era. I remember the line from Rahul saying, "Whatever you want to do, do it in India," which has stuck with me and inspired me. Thank you for your work, Shantanu.

It was so insightful. What a genius and eloquent speaker Mr Kiran is. He is so brutal and to the point mentioning we need to be law abiding citizen for government to help build the nation. His words give confidence that India is shinning and a great nation is in building. Lots of blessing and excited for next episode.

This is a very enriching episode and hearing Mr Kiran was an eye-opener. Most importantly, hearing about the aspiration of making India the top most nation of this world and I believe India has the DNA to be the absolute super power (not just economic) because of its rich culture and the great human beings who lived on this land. They have given us the ideals and principles to follow while be the best in the world. I hope his vision fructifies in my lifetime (another 30-40 years) and I would be very proud and glad.

Would love to see your father talk more and share his experience with us all about his philosophy, experience, and advice. He deserves to have a separate series to make it more impactful. Feedback to the editor/manager - You could have used a single frame of Mr. Deshpande at 13:47 - 14:06. Because as a human, we get distracted very easily at that’s what happened there and I personally missed all the points. So just a heads up to keep on changing the frames which you are currently doing, and don’t keep distracting frames in the middle of important/ main topic.

I like the easy camaraderie of your conversation, Shantanu and Kiran. Good on you K, that you got in a good dose of humanities during your BITS days. I got a decent economics degree and then went on to engineering etc...When I picked up my first sizable project I had to sub out work to Ireland and the Philippines, because there was no IBM gear we could rent in India, and of course in '82 hardly any Indian knew DOS/VSE, let alone MVS. I was greatly disenchanted by the Emergency and thoroughly disenchanted with MD, and voted with my feet though I had cleared the civils. Returning to India via 12 countries almost four decades later I am delighted to see the chronic grinding poverty of the sixties and seventies has given way to less palpable poverty, and a vastly well developed Public Distribution System. My thoughts echo your view on the sanctity of our Constitution, and noted your suggestion with wry amusement that many politicians need to attend class 101 on the subject. You also make an excellent point of the lack of CEO grade leaders for metros. Well said. I am however on the verge of voting again, as I did in youth with my feet - in disenchantment with the polity.

Excellent interview, I wish many families should have such discussions at home. Kiran Sir's quote on poverty was just amazing. Guidance from his mother after getting good marks was important. And the most important part I felt was when he talked about how even though in initial days they were not having money but had encouragement, genuineness and so on. It was very important for today's generation to understand this. I am looking forward to your next conversation with Kiran Sir. Thank you

Citizens manifesto for 2024 elections 1. Massive steps to check/end corruption in India at all levels, specially nexus between politicians, bureaucrats and industrialists, leading to massive corruption in the country. 2. Police and judicial reforms. 3. 50% reservation for women (including 50% reservation for dalits/SC/ST/Tribals). 4. Universal income scheme. 5. Removal of GST on essentials. 6. Many other welfare scheme for the poor and SME. 7. No discrimination/favoritism with any business houses 8. Nationalisation of illicit wealth/assets of Adani/Ramdev/other crony capitalists. 9. Replace flawed economic model of Dr Manmohan Singh with mixed economy model of Nehru ji, with PSU's in all core sector of economy, competing and keeping checks/balance on private sector, whereby improving efficiency in both and fair price/services to the final consumer (instead of exorbitant price charged due to cartelization).

@@shantanudeshpande I watched the entire video and I loved it.. & I am looking forward for the next one with him.. Only two things bothered me : 1) was about Mr. Chavan & 2) the Rajnarain Case ( verdict of which disqualified Mrs. Gandhi as PM) which was fairly known by everybody who was around that time.. Also If I may add Mrs. Gandhi's reasoning for the emergency was Mr. JP Narayan's appeal to the armed forces & police to stop following the government.. I would have loved the video even more if he could have shed some light on the above... Apart from that I would say, this video is one of the few podcasts with rewatch value that I have come across.. & I loved all the YT shorts made from this podcast
