Those of you having difficulty with the speed of item rotation in the outpost builder, Bethesda built-in sensitivity settings for that. I play on PC but I use a controller, and even on controller I had to turn down the sensitivity to achieve the accuracy that I needed. Check your settings!

I agree we need more outpost stuff Doors, showers, maybe even stalls or more types of wall dividers. And the outside porches and patios always maybe smaller lighting would be great. Lol I want a dang pool and lawn chairs and to beable to slap a dang water hose on the side of the building. I don't care if the planet is inhabitable I will install a pool on a moon if I want too!

For bathrooms, use a hallway piece and a couple of partitions. There are a few things you can use to simulate bath room stuff if you don't use MODs. I have a feeling the DLCs will add a bunch more to the outposts (I hope)

That's a really nice flat you got there, pretty sure my lovely Andreja would like this place. I keep it in mind for our future homebase. Get her away from all this dark Varuun stuff and drive that damn snake out of her head... 😁 Hint: for tons of decorative "Misc" items to get you started, go to Serpentis and capture some Revelations. Register them, then switch back to your cargo ship and sell the Revelations. You make a lot of credits easy by selling all the loot and you get tons of small decorative items from pens, bowls, flowerpots... and weapons, don't forget the weapons. That's my main source of income btw, capture Revelations and Prophecys in Serpentis, register and sell them until my cargo hauler is full, then go to the Den and sell everything. I am drowning in food/drink items and ammunition that I never need to buy or loot, make a lot of credits and get a lot of XP on top of it. 🙂
@WizeOldWizard
@WizeOldWizard 3 ай бұрын
That’s funny, I built this while Andreja reached max affinity with me, so it was built as our home as well! RIP. I have gathered an absurd amount of misc items from all of the ground exploration I have done, and from The Scow, and it’s all just sitting in piles in the gallery waiting to be placed. We’ll see if I ever get around to it. I make my credits selling Vytinium and Vytinium fuel rods. Boarding is fun, but I much prefer to blast ships as quickly as I can to farm their XP. Serpentis is absolutely great for that, and it makes me want to build a small militaristic type base somewhere in Serpentis just so I can jump right into orbit and into a space fight.

I learned when doing my own base that there is a bug with the rank 2 turret I believe. You can land and then the turrets will start shooting your own crew. So Lin and Heller were being pinned by their own defenses. Once I placed a rank 3 turret that went away. Something to note. Otherwise, looks great! I love the shooting range idea. Consider that stolen. Also, I sense another ship build in the future from what I saw on the landing pad. 😁

Just started Outpost building, and this gives me some great ideas. I had already built and furnished several before watching this, but my next NG+ will definitely include some of these designs. I’m not much of a decorator myself, so currently the floor of my gallery room is littered with hundreds of misc items and books just waiting to be placed whenever I have the urge to try tackling that. If you drop an item and then enter the builder, then select the item and place it that way, that will prevent the sinking. Thanks for watching and I’m very glad I could inspire you!

@@WizeOldWizard I used the builder to place the items, and they still sank into the tables and shelves and cabinets I had placed them on. It might be Xbox, I don't know.
@WizeOldWizard
@WizeOldWizard 5 ай бұрын
@Baron_Doom no shit! I’ve heard from several sources that placing using the builder would prevent that. It’s absolutely possible that it is the xbox version causing it, as I believe the issue is the same as it was from Fallout 4, where the game would load the items before the furniture or structures. More limiting hardware made this issue worse. I’m guessing because xbox hardware is more limited, your structures and furniture are being loaded significantly later than the items compared to someone running on a strong PC. I will be making a decorating video using Indigo Ridge, and when I do I’ll do my best to report on this issue.

Dude this build took hours of in-game time experimenting and using trial-and-error to learn what works and what doesn’t. I’d say this was the third version of it, the first being entirely different and just too large. On top of that time spent, cutting the hours of footage down to something sensible and palatable was a job by itself. I very much appreciate the kind words, as always! These builds are really a result of a significant amount of time. I try and fail until it works, and then I film it. I tried messing around with the base building a little bit . I'm not a fan of limitations , so I guess I'll have to wait for the CK and the mod community to expand on what you can build . There already are mods that supposedly do that but they're far too complicated to install at this point . I have my mod selection simplified to the point where the only thing I need to update are 2 mods . Mods that have a bunch of extra requirements and steps in order to make them work . Just end up being broken mods every 6 weeks .
@WizeOldWizard
@WizeOldWizard 6 ай бұрын
I agree completely with your frustration with the limitations. Things like stacking the habs should be straight-forward and simple. Other than that though, it’s really easy to snap these things together and build some interesting shapes and spaces. But if you can’t get around that you can get free player hones from certain quests. That’s your best bet if you want a home in game but you don’t want to build it.

@WizeOldWizard 6 ай бұрын
That’s an awesome planet for a home base for sure, also a great idea to build over the water. If we had proper outdoor walkway structures they would be perfect for that, rugs just don’t cut it. I’m hoping for something that can snap to the airlock so we can have more control over how those are connected. One can hope, at least. Thanks for watching!

Awesome build! I am planning on building an outpost on Schrodinger VIII-a in a similar environment. I also agree with you on your rant about the relative lack of build items, like being able to build more ordinary houses on planets that have breathable atmospheres (I want to build my own mini Akila City or New Atlantis), ESPECIALLY the lack of interior doors for habs & bathroom stalls/showers. I sorta got around the issue by using the office cubicle partitions to create semi-private bathroom areas in the corners of the bedrooms in my outpost housing modules, but it's far from perfect or ideal (You can see what I did in my build video for my Amaurot outpost on Eridani II). One thing I'm hoping for is some modder to come up with something like the Snappy Housekit mod that adds most of the vanilla build assets as outpost modules/tiles, and when some decent outpost building mods do eventually come out, I am so going to be going back to doing what I do in my modded Fallout 4 game & use console commands for precise placement of objects: That alone reduced the time it takes me to build settlements in Fallout 4 by almost half.

I love this moon! When I found this spot I quickly fell in love with it. The views here are incredible and the overall look of it is fairly earth-like, which offers a nice familiarity that is rare in the settled systems. Its such a shame this game is dead to most of its initial EA players, the Ship Building/Base Building is second to none, and i had some really enjoyable, immersive moments. I play some Star Citizen on and off, yet understandably the two games are leagues apart, yet Star Citizen will never have Modding/Ship Building, base building is still a couple of years away, but it will never eclipse Starfield's BB, which with the inclusion of modding, will only see it improve. You do great work dude.

Awesome video, wizard. It was inspiring to see a build as nice/magical as this, I’ll admit I tend to build way to square and cube like with little ability to make my bases look this good. My advice to you on unity, create a new game save and use that save for unity jumps, that way you don’t throw away/lose all those hours of game play and you won’t lose the works of art you’ve created in this play through. Sure you’ve got it on video, but there’s something to say for having the ability to jump back into your “main” play through and reference your own stuff. Anyways, thanks for this fantastic base build, looking forward to more amazing wizard videos, be it base builds or ship builds. Cheers

The video was an absolute nightmare to edit because many of my clips involved building, removing, trying something else, liking that result less, and then rebuilding what I had before. Several of my initial ideas had to be thrown out the window due to builder limitations or build limit. Find a good spot, get all your building materials, and just start fucking up until you find something you like!

I’m not worried about completely walling it off, just the areas that NPC’s could easily traverse. The position of the lead vein was honestly an afterthought, I had no intent to extract anything at my home base but it is a nice bonus so I threw them down there. I have several outposts extracting resources elsewhere, and wouldn’t want to spend much time building a home at those because they are loud and ugly haha. @WizeOldWizard brilliant. Thanks for explaining. I thought it looked pretty neat having your own transport crew doing all the grunt work. I have also got your vytinium mine up and running. So will look at doing the same on this outpost build that you've inspired

Very nice! In that case, be on the look out for the Automated Vytinium Fuel Rod production guide. I THINK I’ve found a way to do it with only 6 outposts, which makes it possible to then send the finished product to your home base.

I like it nice! I managed to locate a long costal area across the water way from Eren's Camp, "Andreja Quest" on Hyla II, I first tried flying across from the camp but with Starfield's idiotic and clumsy mapping system I could never land in the right area so I then tried swimming the long swim across the body of water but the water was just to corrosive thus I kept dying, so... I just pulled up the console and put myself into god mode and made the swim, removing the cheat once reaching the other side, I'm sure if someone had the patience and better pinpointing then I, they could land there. very few palm trees if any at all, mostly flat grass land with beach front property as far as the eye can see, resources, Aluminum, Beryllium, Fluorine and water. I've found that by building in a heavy tree or rock area they tend to glitch through the walls at some points when leaving and returning to the outpost, so I try to find areas that are flat as possible with low tree count.

I really appreciate you making these videos. I even tried using this as a template on a similar hilltop as you found in the same area. Unfortunately the building controls on xbox make it virtually impossible to recreate anything you did or use precise placement of any kind. I never even got past trying to match up the airlock with the landing pad. We really need a place anywhere mod like we had in fallout 4. Trying to build in this game with an xbox controller is no less than infuriating. The best I can do at this point is some spread out buildings. The build is amazing and I was hoping to do something similar but there is zero chance with the controls I currently have. If you've got any modder friends, I'd ask that they come up with something that negates the clipping restrictions and improves snapping.

Thank you very much! Just so you know, while I do play on PC, I use an Xbox controller. There is nothing different about anything I’m doing in the video that you can’t do on consoles. No mods were used, no glitch/clip techniques, it’s all within the vanilla building mechanics. I think what you might be struggling with is rotation speed, and there is a setting for that in the game menu. I turned mine down quite a lot to achieve more precise control. Thanks for watching!

No need to be frustrated! Everyone has creativity, and for me personally, I just have to work through many failures to find the successful outcome. If I would have left all those failures in this video, it would have been 10 hours long at least! Just find a spot and start experimenting, you’ll come up with something that you love eventually. If I can do it, so can you! Feel free to copy my build verbatim if it helps you, no harm no foul. Thanks for watching!

Building an outpost in starfield seems to be loads easier compared t9 building in FO4. Especially not one wall ata time but whole modules

I would actually prefer the choice to shape my own habs inside and out or place prefabs. Fo4 builder was more complex, but this builder has plenty of quirks of its own. Still takes quite a bit of time.

I’ve done 8 playthroughs and each time I’d built a base I experienced major bugs, like trees and rocks respawning through the structures, not being able to use the work stations etc. I finally decided to uninstall the game as it became extremely frustrating. Such a shame, I was really looking forward to building when it was released.☹️
@WizeOldWizard

Yes, there are issues, but the reappearing bulldozed objects bug has been patched, and the ‘can’t use (item) because it’s obstructed’ is an easy one to get around. Just gotta quicksave and load that save and it goes away.
@DovahGirL
@DovahGirL 5 ай бұрын
@@WizeOldWizard Unfortunately quick saving and reloading doesn’t work for me. I have found a workaround which worked for me though, deleting and building it at a different spot solved the issue for a temporarily but even that was a bit much for me. The amount of bugs took all the fun out for me. I’ll wait until the major issues have been addressed.😔

I like this however I’m a huge fan of symmetry, actually it basically it’s a form of OCD in my case. It keeps me up at night if certain things are asymmetrical. Lol I do like the spot you picked tho on the hill! Also I hate that there’s no entryways into outpost/habs other than airlocks! This plant/moon like many others in game are living planets so there’d be no need for an airlock! It’s really annoying!
@WizeOldWizard
@WizeOldWizard 6 ай бұрын
I like symmetry, but in the case of a static object like a building, I actually prefer asymmetry. I think it leads to a more unique and interesting shape. For things that are dynamic and meant to move, symmetry is nice because you often see those things in motion and naturally from different angles. I share your opinion with the airlocks. There should absolutely be an option for non-airlock entries when the atmosphere is breathable. We need that and interior doors so badly! Thanks for watching!
