I used to work at Ross and everyone always wanted me to “check the back” for other sizes or colors - the truth? When we would say everything is out, we really meant it. That store chain literally isn’t allowed to have back stock in the stock room. My biggest "secret" for my old retail job involved customers demanding that since an item was sold out on the floor, that I go personally look in the storage room and see if we had more inventory. This is after I'd just spent 3 hours doing freight (getting everything out of packages and boxes and ready for the floor), I knew what was back there because I opened every freakin' box myself, but since that answer, "we don't have it," was never good enough and lead to unnecessary long winded conversations where customers tried to explain to me how to do my job, I would just enthusiastically tell them, SURE! I'll go check for you right away!!! Then I'd round the corner to the storage area, sit down or talk to an employee in the back for a few minutes, and then come back and tell them---we don't have it because we never did.

I do the exact same thing at the fabric store I work at. I put out the fabric. I know what we have. I just go into the back room, take some selfies on the handhelds, chat with the lady in charge of the back room, and then come back out and say we don't have what they want. Irrational customers can be waiting up to 10 minutes for me to return. Good customers I'll get back to in 3 minutes or less. If they wander off then I *don't* go looking for them.

I *love* doing that to customers! I work in some pretty high-traffic shops, and any time I get the chance to say "Oh, let me go check in the back!" is actually just time for me to chill and get the heck away from all the crazy out in the store's front side. I'll take a few minutes, putter around in the back to see if we have another thing in the back stock that I *was* intending to look for, and then head back out with a sad look and maybe a sob story about how we've been waiting for a new shipment for quite a while. It's a great way to decompress...and to avoid the rampant desire to throttle our pushier patrons.

I used to work for a car parts manufacturer abroad, we used to assemble fuel pumps from parts purchased in Asian countries like China and Indonesia. The cost to make a fuel pump at the time was $30, the most expensive part was a bearing that cost $1 a piece, those same fuel pumps were listed for $220 in the retail market... Every time you buy a car part, you're paying for the design of the part, not so much for the part itself. The people who built the individual parts for your car part are potentially slave or child laborers in Asian countries because car part manufacturers don't ask how the providers build their parts, they just place orders and sample-check for quality. Most of the profit made from the manufacturing of the part goes to the fat cats at the manufacturing plants and the fat cats at the distribution centers or car parts retailers. The cost to build a brand new car is between 50% to 70% of what the car ultimately retails for (before interest from lenders), we're all getting ripped off every time we buy a car. If we bought our cars at cost, I would have paid $8,000 for my 2015 Chevy Equinox, not $17,000 plus interest!!! When GM was rescued by the government the top executives gave themselves big fat multi-million-dollar "bonus checks" for bankrupting the company and putting hundreds of thousands of people's jobs at risk. This is one of the many reasons why people HATE billionaires, because they don't produce anything, they use other people's labor in third world countries where people suffer and are victims of violations of human rights to make themselves richer without giving a damn about who lives and who dies for their greed.

10:17 - when they’re talking about the gym memberships, as a previous multiple time gym manager, I can say that’s incorrect. The worst part of my job was putting people into collections for $30. A good/big gym will have ironclad contracts, especially if they outsource their billing to an agency. The contracts, if they outsource, are contracts supplied by the financial/billing company that have been written by lawyers and are just adjusted to fit the current gym. I don’t know how it is in Canada, but the US gyms will fuck you over. Just put in the cancellation request. 99% the employees don’t give a shit why you’re cancelling either. Side note - if you are ever put into collections DO NOT PAY THE COLLECTION AGENCY. Call to the original debtor and pay them. You’ll only have to pay the principal vs paying the fees and interest that is stacked on top of the the principal by the collections agency.

Uh, as a company who has had to resort to sending some of our clients to a collection agency, we do NOT take payments from that client any more. They MUST pay the collection agency. The agency we use said they don't harm the client's credit unless they refuse to deal with them. Yes, you have to pay interest, but the company who sent you to collections should be charging you interest for the time past due anyway, so you should be paying interest regardless.
@MrsLilD763 жыл бұрын
@@lokicooper4690 I mean all companies are different so it’s understandable that everyone has a different set of rules in how they want to address overdue fees. Collection agencies charge interest as that’s their profit margin. Late fees or interest charges by the original business to the person that is overdue I don’t see a problem as I do that for my own company. If someone can avoid paying the profit margin of a 3rd party collections agency, they should have every chance too. Going direct to the company doesn’t guarantee they don’t get charged a fee for being late. The interest that I’m referring to, that I had assumed was common knowledge (which it doesn’t seem like it, as you came at me with a know it all attitude, when you in fact, didn’t actually know it all), is once again, the profit margin of the 3rd party collections. If a business gives the person past due the opportunity to collect from them instead of the collections agency they should. Also you should know that once you’re in collections, your credit is absolutely effected by up to a 100pt drop and will effect it for up to 7 years. You should really Google some stuff before assuming the person who told you that is all knowing.
@lokicooper46903 жыл бұрын
@@MrsLilD76 well, the collection agency told me they don’t do anything to affect the credit rating at first. Ignore them and they will. However, it obviously varies agency to agency, and we are not allowed to deal with any of our clients if they have gone to collections. If it seemed I came at you, I apologise. It’s difficult to tell a person’s meaning if you can’t hear that person. I guess it sounded more harsh than I meant. I didn’t mean to jump down your throat, but know that not all places will deal with people once that person has gone to collections. Plus, it may be different in different countries. By not dealing with the client any more, this is how my company is handling collections, They wouldn’t pay us before, and still ignored us when we said they were going to collections. Now that the collections agency reached out to them, they suddenly want to pay? Nope. Since the collection agency charges us a fee for each client we send to them, that client is going to pay them, not us.

Maybe some restaurants clean properly, but I've only seen the lines cleaned when they were so full of crap that the soda stopped coming out. It's horrifying. If your drink doesn't come in a bottle, it's not safe.

I'll add in ask for no ice. I worked at Golden Corral years ago and one of the only good perks was the fact we got free drinks while on the clock. I used to ice my drinks until one day I had to go back to the kitchen for something and the ice scraper we use to get ice from the machines was laying on the wet, dirty kitchen floor. I was so disgusted! Never used ice again. But they did clean the drink station and tubes, so that's why I would still drink the drinks.

Similarly, people who freak out about how standard luggage (like roller bags) are handled at an airport. If it's a domestic narrowbody flight, you're looking at 60-120 rollers and duffles that are between 40 and 75 pounds each, and then a few outliers at the 100 pound mark. Swinging those bags and using the momentum is going to happen, period.

“WD40” is extremely volatile, it evaporates VERY quickly and therefore quickly loses its lubricating quality. It is best used as a penetrating oil to loosen “frozen” parts. Soap works well to lubricate plastic parts because it attracts water so it is always slippery. BUT because it attracts water it is REALLY bad for iron parts and many other metals.

A "trade secret" at my local McDonalds, I worked at for a while, is when they say "sorry our ice cream machine is broken" its not. I have seen so many reason people think like its being cleaned things like that. Nope. Its because the ice cream machines are high tech; at least the ones we had I have seen at every location I have gone to. If we don't do the almost 2 hour cleaning process mode on it, it shuts itself down until you take it apart & turn on its cleaning process. I used to work at a flower shop at one point and a lot of the arrangements require certain conditions to keep them fresh. For example, you don't want to have hydrangeas out in the blazing August because they will wilt; you can revive them by dipping the heads of the flowers in cold water but, a lot of people don't realize that. A lot of the blue flowers might be sprayed blue with a floral dye like spray paint, same thing with yellow, green, pink flowers with some white to them. However, blue is a really hard color sometimes to get, expecially if someone is looking for the preticular shade or tint of blue ( like baby blue carnations are usually white carnations that are sprayed blue) Lots of times flowers aren't in for a certain season and you have to wait for them to come in; most of the flowers come in boxes and are wrapped to protect them while in shipping; they have little water picks added to them to keep the single stem flowers/greens from drying out. Sometimes there is a shortage of a certain flower/ plant due to a storm, etc; leading to higher pricing. Prom is a fricken nightmare and it's mostly parents freak out about colors or calling last minute for corsages and all that.

Bed bugs are not an indication that a hotel is dirty unless they have done absolutely nothing to contain and resolve it. Bed bugs are travelers: they comes in with guests. They don’t spawn from dirt or anything like that, they are typically transferred off of a guest’s clothes or luggage and begin their reign of terror in whatever room they end up in after that. They’re very small blood-suckers and very difficult to get rid of. Most hotels have them at least once but good hotels have contingency plans in place for when it happens.

The store shelves are full of options now plus restaurants, well when we used to get to eat out, have gluten free options. She suffered for years as we took her to doctors trying to figure out her stomach issues and anemia. Celiac was not even in anyone’s vernacular then. I would hope it’s easier now to get diagnosed also.

I work at McDonald’s and when u order an unsalted fry say a medium we’ll take the already made medium fry and just drop them back in the oil for a few seconds to get off the salt so the tik tok trend of asking for unsalted fries to get fresh fries is not how to get fresh fries if u want fresh fries just ask nicely and we’ll put in ur order for ur fries to be made fresh
@katsleggsful4 жыл бұрын
McDonald's are franchises. Just because yours does that does not mean all locations do so. I would suggest your store stop this practice as there are legitimate health reasons for requesting no salt on food orders, and the franchise owner could be held liable if someone brings forth a lawsuit.

Agree! Furthermore, if you get an interview, worry more about your personality than worrying over proving your qualifications. They already see it on your resume and asked to hire you, all the questions at the interview are just finding out if you seem like a cool and confident employee to work with. Just like you should use that same interview to see if they seem like good employers to work for.

This was in 1996. I worked for a huge (at the time) computer company, and we were opening up a new call center in a "hick state" that had a good university - so I had a team that moved from Denver to Indiana and we ran full page "now hiring" ads with our logo, etc. We were expecting line ups, like we had in Denver, but under the advice of the local paper, every week we scaled back our advertised hourly rates and removed the name from the ad, just saying we were looking for "computer help". The ones that were hired on day one got close to 30$ an hour (about $50 now), and the last hired was $1 above min wage (less than $10 hourly). FOR THE SAME JOB. We created a contract (immediate termination) that ALL had to sign to ensure NO ONE talked about how much they made! Weirdly enough, the near-minimum wage job offering had line ups daily - it seems no one thought they were worth the top dollar. Also, strangely, the ones that got the most were often fired because they had little or no knowledge, or were untrainable.

My dad was a Master Plumber, and showed me a GREAT secret! If you have a shower head (or any other plumbing accessory that screws on), unscrew the appliance, grab a bar of soap, and scrape the soap along the ‘rings’ of the part you screw the accessory onto. It creates a leak-proof barrier and lasts forever! Once you screw the shower head (or other accessory) back on, the soap stays put. It’s an extremely CHEAP fix… something that a plumber would charge mega bucks to fix! You can ALSO do this to a NEW shower head, and you’ll never get a leak.

Looool, the gluten thing 😆 I’m gluten intolerant, so I’ve known about that for awhile, which was why I was so confused when the whole ‘gluten free diet’ thing popped up. One of the reasons why people see a difference, is because the stuff gluten is in, is typically pretty unhealthy (bread, pasta, cake etc.) so it really has nothing to do with gluten in itself, just the stuff it’s in 😅

The whole issue is in believing that the six creative days are literal days equivalent to what we know as a 24 hour day. Else where in the Bible it does say that a day to God is as a thousand to us. So a lot could happen in one of those "days." It is referring to a particular event time period such as when we would say " in grandfather's day" - which obviously refers to more than one day.
@MagnetMagicGirl4 жыл бұрын
Rhonda, the only problem with thinking that the creation took more than 6 days is when God rested on the seventh. The point of Him resting is to provide an example for us (so we rest on the seventh day also). If that doesn't happen, then major elements of the Bible start to fall apart.
