I can so relate to the stealing meds one. My dad had cancer and his girlfriend and her daughter were stealing his pain meds and using them/selling them. Luckily I had health care POA, so I was able to get hospice to put him on a morphine pump. No more pain pills to steal. It still breaks my heart and makes me so angry that someone he trusted did that. I can never forgive her for making some of his last days so miserable.

I'm so so sorry for your loss and those horrendous ghouls. Addicts do this all the time. I have a pain condition literally called "the suicide disease" because a high number of its sufferers can't take the pain but I have had my meds stolen by people I was trying to help or who I thought were friends. People in recovery, God bless them for trying, are the first to tell you that they did this.

Like, I get how being secretive is sus and all, but I personally have no qualms letting the person I trust through my phone IF they ask me to see. @Futu06
@Futu06 3 жыл бұрын
Yup. My partner could have all of my passwords and access in theory, but I wouldn't be comfortable with it if he ever actually looked. Not because there's any cheating going on, but because I talk to a lot of international friends via Discord and some of those conversations are deeply personal sometimes, i.e. things they've shared with me when they're going through tough times, etc. I'd feel like crap if someone else (even my partner) saw those exchanges, because those are things my friends have trusted me with, were not meant for someone else's eyes and are not mine to share without permission. I don't subscribe to the idea that once you're a couple, you're a unit and therefore whatever is okay for me to know from my friends is okay for him to know. It just doesn't work that way. Being in a relationship doesn't mean I relinquish my obligations to be a good friend to other people and protect their privacy as much as I protect my own.

@@Futu06 For partnerships absolutely; another commenter pointed out that difference between marriage(/live partnership) and gf/bf or dating; when I tell my aunt something I'm aware she'll probably share it with my uncle and I'm fine with that, knowing he'll keep it confidential as well and that's as far as it goes. When I do not want something shared with somebody's spouse I say so and that is respected as well - I feel like this is just another instance of every relationship being different as well as there being nuances.

I am permanently disabled and I had 10 surgeries over the course of 2 years. I needed help when I was in bed rest for 9 weeks after one of the surgeries and also twice after having foot surgery. I had some “friends” offer to help me out and I got them paid through my insurance for their time. All they had to do was get me my medicine, make me TV dinners and make sure I didn’t fall when going to the restroom. Most of the time, all they did was sit around and watch tv in my living room while I mostly slept. 2 of the 3 “friends” that helped me out ended up stealing a good amount of my pain meds. I’ve also had “friends” who’ve just come over to visit and ended up stealing my pain meds and muscle relaxers. We now keep my “valuable” meds in a safe that only my husband has access to and he leaves me only the amount I need for the time he is gone each day. He has also implemented a rule that no one is allowed over if he is not home.

When my fiancé started driving for Lyft, he told me about the good times to get passengers, and it was obviously those “drunk times”. We were in the pandemic when he started, so along with 2 packs of 70% alcohol wipes that the company sent him, I suggested we buy emesis bags (the bags for vomit that doctors offices and hospitals give you), general car cleaning wipes, a pack of air vent fresheners, and a roll of paper towels in a box in the trunk. I had him keep 2 emesis bags in the glove box, so he wouldn’t have to get out of the car to go to the trunk to get one in case of emergency, and remove the vent clip if they felt sick (coming from a family of migraine suffers, I know that strong fragrant scents can cause migraines/ upset stomach). I wanted to make sure that the passengers felt comfortable, the car stayed as clean as possible, and hopefully they would want rides in the future, if they remembered they even called for a ride lol. So far, the “worst” passenger was a guy that was high on pot. It was no big deal, he just said it was funny.

I was on an International trip with several friends. Before leaving the USA, I had sold my house so I had 120 thousand dollars in my bank account. (That money was to buy a new house when I returned.) One of my friends asked to use my laptop. Later that night I decided to pay some bills & clicked the Bookmark for my bank. I was surprised to see I was already logged in, & SHOCKED to see I only had a little over 1 thousand dollars!! I'm not given to hysterics, but I thought I was going to faint!! My first thought was, someone had hacked into my account. However, after scanning the page further, I discovered my friend has an account at the same bank. She had signed into HER account; the balance I saw was HER money, NOT mine. WHEW!!! I scolded her for not signing out of her bank account. I was a trusted friend, but reminded her that not everyone would be. Months later, she was at my new house & used my desktop computer. She left her Facebook acct logged in. Some ppl just don't learn....

5:40- the last guy I gave my password to my online account on a website I met him (it was an online bf) he flipped out if a guy just said “hi” to me. He would flip out if I befriended any guy and because he had my password he could do whatever he wanted. So yeah, no one is getting my passwords. You have to ask me if you want to see my messages and I’ll gladly show you them.

I definitely don’t agree that you should be sharing your passwords with the people you are dating. Everyone deserves their privacy. Period. No but. If you can’t trust the person you are dating without going through their personal stuff, then you need to talk that out or move on. And beyond trust issues, sharing your passwords with anyone is just a terrible idea.

@@bananawammabama Toxic? No, the complete opposite. Why would you need someone's password? So you check up on them? So you can snoop? I trust my partner and he trusts me. I don't need their password to tell me that.
@nos480
@nos480 4 жыл бұрын
@@bananawammabama If you're married to someone then certainly having the open device policy is one thing, but even then, some things you discuss with a sister or close friend is not always something you would want your hubby to read. But when it comes to someone you're only dating then I see no reason why they should have all your passwords etc. You're opening up your banking apps to someone who has no legal reason to be on there. And if shit slides sideways then you'll have a hard time to prove they stole from you.
