FINALLY... Automobilista 2 is getting its IndyCar oval racing in a much more realistic window. I take the 1997 CART IndyCars for an 100 lap race around Gateway, similar to the very first race on the track... the 1997 Motorola 300. Drivers like Alex Zanardi, Greg Moore and more do battle on the 1.2 mile oval!

Man, with Reiza being a Brazilian studio and that the peak of popularity of IndyCar in Brazil was the mid-90s, the work in the cars and sound is simply amazing. (I know the liveries are from a mod with the same great quality)

I know this is unrelated to this video but for my Ericsson hot take I meant it was a bad deal for him and Ganassi. Ganassi for not signing him, and him going to not as great equipment. Great signing for Andretti though.

Nice driving! Automobilista 2 is my favourite sim at the moment, the latest update with the adrenaline pack is superb 👌 I recommend the program Crew Chief so you can have a spotter voice, really easy to install 👍

Oval AI look much better here than the last time I tried. I don’t know how much that’s saying but it’s an improvement nonetheless 😂

Shame there aren't helmet designs in this. Breaks the immersion when all the drivers have white helmets. 1997 is a special season for me. First season I watched in its entirety. Sunday evenings on Eurosport with Ben Edwards and Jeremy Shaw commentating.

AMS2 also has Helmet and Suit skins I doubt someone will make them for the 1997 season but AMS2 will Become a Moders Dream In the next Few Yrs next up will be Endurance and Lemans DLC

I'm very curious to know what you did to stop the AI going into the fuel saving mode? Normally any race over a single fuel run just has the AI following nose to tail, 30mph off the pace.

@DavidLand91, I'd like to get your thoughts on this versus AMS1 with the CART Extreme mod. I prefer the latter as i feel the driving experience is more challenging and I think racing the AI is better (but definitely not perfect). I did a few full-length Indianapolis 500 runs in May through July to get my CART cars at IMS fix. I can't believe iRacing doesn't make a 1990s champ car for us using the data they/Papyrus had for ICR1 and ICR2. I would *gladly* pay the normal vehicle fee in an instant to drive it in iRacing.

Hey David I know this is old news I just started playing project cars 2 in one of your videos you said if you play more than 16 cars it messes with the physics. Is that still a problem with this game?

@davidland91 Great video! Fairly new AMS2 and I have been trying to do a race just like this but in Fontana. I have all the same opponent settings, but when the race starts half of the field are just plain ALL RED cars... Any idea why this is occurring. Any help or opinions form anyone would be a huge help. Keep up the awesome videos on and off the track.
