There was a moment in the post FA cup press conference where one of the reporters asked ten hag how he feels that the owners above him have been talking with other managers recently. The look on ten hags face when he heard that was just heart breaking, like pure wtf. Dutch managers & coaches are the best in the world at developing young talent into world class players and the best in The Netherlands are at Ajax. With unbelievable young talent in the junior teams at Utd starting to breakthrough into the senior team and squad, it would be footballing illiteracy to ask Ten Hag to leave. Ten Hag is quite clearly building something special. Why wreck it ? The Busby Babes were an incredible number of talents and they were many of them. There is now something special developing at Utd. You can win with youngsters but you can't without a defence. Martinez and Varane were world class in the F.A. Cup final. The managers being mentioned are not suitable to be a Utd manager. Two trophies for Ten Hag and Utd since he arrived and other managers have not won even won one. If they do the unthinkable, then they would have admitted that they would have done the same to Sir Alex in 1990. Good managers are hard to find, great ones are allowed to develop.

Mark supported the idea that Ineos wouldn't use the FA cup final result as a factor in their decision whether to keep Ten Hag when he felt that they would lose. Now United have won they should definitely keep him, based on the result. It's stuff like this that really dents Mark's credibility, even though I enjoy watching him. Mark has insisted that Ten Hag should stay but that people such as himself will really judge him in his third season. I don't know whether it's best to sack Ten Hag or not; I think there is a good coach there but he's certainly made big mistakes and has given people who want him gone plenty of ammunition. What I do know however is that Mark has way too much emotional investment in Ten Hag to suddenly be objective next season. If the team goes through a bad spell or start slowly all it will take is a couple of injuries; a few players staying that Mark would prefer gone; a new signing misfiring or struggling to settle; Ten Hag not getting all his first choice targets (for whatever reason) and all the excuses Mark has used this season will be re-run. He will criticise him for individual games, or selections of certain players etc but will never consider the overall condition of the team and performances to be Ten Hags responsibility.

Sorry taking time to reflect on ever changing circumstances is not hiding in a cave. I personally wanted him out after the debacle at Anfield and very little improved until recently, however the facts are his win rate is third in the last ten years of managers. In the two years he has been there we have been in three of the four finals winning two trophies. So upon reflection i feel he deserves a third season ... i've changed my mind and now want him to stay
