I used the same bar on my Grenadier, I used two set of lights Baja Designs LP6 ( have high low function but offroad only other then running lights ) and their SAE-R ( lights you can run on road)

Man you are killing me here. I just got off the phone with my BD salesman specing out everything for the truck including the LP6s with a set of white and amber. Plus we were talking about all kinds of other deals on the truck

I would love to see a pic of your rig to see light spacing.

My concern with additional lights across the front of the radiator intake is the impact on general cooling. Whilst this is an age old debate, common across a number of 4x4 makes, there has been specific information from someone involved in the early development of the Grenadier that indicated cooling was a particular issue for them and the inclusion of the in grill driving lights (attributed to Sir Jim wanting them) necessitated the extra coolant radiator in the bumper wing.

I understand your concerns. I am an Engineer who has worked in automotive and aerospace and my thoughts based on experience is what is the environments for the mods I make to the platform. I will not be traversing any deserts or super hot days. I do not fully load my Grenadier with gear as I typically go out for a long weekend. My weather is pretty mild in North Carolina with it rarely getting to 10 degrees F or more that 100F in the summer. If I were rolling across the Sahara I may be concerned. For me I am way more concerned about the Deer and animals that pop out on our rural roads where I live so I'm usually not speeding over 50 mph and low load on the engine so I think cooling will be fine but I operate in a super mild environment. I think you are on point for the concern and if living out West I would have to watch temps and evaluate. Solid point though.

Yes, I take your points. It would be interesting to data log direct from whatever temperature sensors the Grenadier has and see if the bar/light combo impacts these figures. In the quest for fuel economy and emissions, I understand the BMW engine runs hotter than engines of old. Indeed, with the exception of the egr cooler circuit, the coolant pump has the ability to stop the main engine coolant circuit altogether. Then there's DPF burns and haven't we all experienced hovercraft mode at one time or another when parking up?

@@stevegreen101 You had me rolling with "Hovercraft mode." I am a gauge watcher so I am doing some off-roading in August that I would consider high engine load combined with low speed so an event that could challenge the cooling system. I am interested in monitoring the temps for sure prior to any modification of lighting. I do appreciate your interest in data over opinion. So that will set a baseline for me to consider.

@@DesignBuildGoLLC I hope you can post more after your upcoming trip. With so little data/information coming out from Ineos, it's up to owners to to empirically gather. 👍

@@stevegreen101 High heat conditions in NC over the last two outings. Speed ranged from 1mph to 4mph through the trails so not a real advantage to cooling system. Overall retained 194 F temperature. So far so good. Very consistent cooling system.

Other considerations... If yourlight bar can compensate and run super bright without the need of the factory grill lights... Do a mod.. Pull the 2x grill lights out and put mesh in place to recover airflow benefits.
@DesignBuildGoLLC5 ай бұрын
@@4wdbenio363 that is a way to go. I think we may play with a few different configurations.

I like it. Took some flack for not putting the lights on first but I was trying to set up an account with Baja Designs and not that is all squared away, I will be installing the lights.
