Infiniti FX Rear Liftgate Support Struts. 50 Dollars and 3 minutes! FX35 FX50 FX37 QX70.

Also known as trunk support shocks or rear tailgate support struts.
I used Tuff Support part number 61288 for both left and right replacements.
The OEM part number for the left one is
90453-1CA0A
The OEM part number for the right one is
90452-1CA0A
They are Stabilus units, 7172YF and 7175YR respectively.

I use a pick instead of a screwdriver. Works well. Is thin and hooks right around those clips. Had the hood struts done on a few vehicles in minutes. Takes longer to put them in than take them out with the pick.

I am watching this in 2022! Thanks for making this video! I actually came here because of the brand you used. Tuff Support. I have a Yaris and was concerned I needed to order specific left and right support struts. Your video confirms I don't have to worry. Oh how are the struts holding up for you? I loved the ending at 11:58 seems to pop open faster than stock, eh?

How’s you interior of the fox holding up? Any cracking of the dash

Unfortunately yes, the dash has some cracks near some edges. Fortunately in mine they aren't all that conspicuous. Unless you know FXs and were looking for it, you would probably not notice your first time in the cabin.

@@EdBwoy I have a g37 and i have cracks all over i have a good reconditioning guy that fixes them as i get them, I’m not sure replacing the dash is worth it at this point when i priced the repair cost from the dealership it was at least 3,000, that’s steep

add to that, the belt seals on the windows are cracked and i'm trying to source replacements but seems very hard to find. i'm now worried about rain getting into the doors and the ensuing rust rotting out the interiors.
