Remember, you can never check your oil level enough. Every 500 or 1,000 miles you should be checking. Especially, if you drive the G hard.
@King-ql2kb7 жыл бұрын
Okay, so like i totally understand what you mean that g owner should be checking their oil all the time since its known to have a high oil consumption, I was lucky enough to put oil in before it goes out last week cause i haven't checked it in a while, but like when i go start my car, when i have my keys in the on position i can see a engine oil icon, but it never lights up when im low on engine oil, is it something infiniti make?

12:23 holy shit. I've been looking relentlessly for a fix for the SAME EXACT issue. I wish you would've supplied the code, hopefully you got the same one.. "P1283 Air Fuel Ratio Sensor 1 Lean Shift Monitoring Bank 2" When my buddies and I tried diagnosing this, we assumed it was the AF sensors too. (He says he changed the O2 sensors BEFORE the cats first) Although yes, those are O2 sesnors, I got sold O2 sensors when really I needed to O2 sensors BEFORE the cat... They call them AF sensors and they're about the same price. Excuse my cluttered thought, I read a diagram wrong and ended up changing the AF sensor on the passenger side, instead of the driver side.. The code eventually came back which lead me to believe that I changed the wrong one. So I went ahead and changed the other AF sensor. Code came back and I said, "Screw it. My car must just be running rich because of my aftermarket exhaust" Thankfully right at 12:23, our boy at Motordyne describes the same exact issue and how he resolved it..! Which btw the fix was the O2 sensors, not the AF sensors. (AF=Air Fuel and for those that don't know, AF sensors are before the cat, and O2 sensors are after the cat) Happily noted man! Gonna swap out both of those O2 sensors shortly here, and hopefully I can stop driving around with that damn check engine light.

Even though I own 2005, I recommend either a 06 or 07. I've converted to 06-07 projector headlights and I got lucky with the CD009 gearbox with a late model 2005. 06-07 came with CD009 gearbox on all the manuals.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look into the 06-07 model when Im back home.

Isn’t the CD009 prone to slave cylinder issues lol?

But anything’s better than the 03-05 trans with the 3 rd gear grind

Are parts expensive for it? I want to either get a 370 or a g37. Knowing the Infinity is a luxury brand, how much more are the parts for it compared to Nissans?

I have a 5AT 07 G35 Sedan(120k mi). What do i need to get or do to the car to get 300 wheel horsepower out of the V36? I'm not trying to go FI just yet since its my daily at the moment. It's also my first car and I plan to keep it forever.

I once owned a Vauxhall Vectra ( the uncoolest car in the UK ) and did 170k miles in 6 years. In that time the only fault was a stone through the air conditioning condenser. Other than this only routine maintenance needed. Oil change every 10k. Major service every 40k. Brake discs lasted 120k and the tires did 50k per set. The cheapest working car I’ve owned but a lot more dull than your Infinity 😁

My 2004 g sedan has been over heating at idle with the ac on I replaced the clutch fan and the small electric fan in front of the radiator and ran good for like 2 months and then last night it did it again. It had a new thermostat and system had been flushed too so now I am stumped but I scanned it a few days ago and it was the u1000 or the ipdm engine room fuse box code popped up so you think it make have something to do ? I’m still new to these cars

Does anyone know if the manual transmissions are known to brake in those cars? I have a 2004 Coupe 6mt with 120k miles and am curious what to expect.

Did your upstream 02 sensors go out when you had OEM catalytic converters or when you switched to MD Art pipes? I got two codes P2a03 P2a00 a month or so after. Installing Art pipes could it be the art pipes or just the 12 year old 02 sensors gone bad, My 2006 G has 105,xxx Thank You
@MotordyneG357 жыл бұрын
I had test pipes before MD ART pipes. The ART pipes I put on at 117k and the sensors went bad at 130k miles in 2015. It is most likely your sensors old age. My codes when my 02 sensors went bad: Found: 2 codes! ********** P1283,A/F Sensor Lean shift (Bank 2 Sensor 1) ********** P1273,A/F Sensor Lean shift (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
@mistuhchristian38417 жыл бұрын
Yes mine are also a lean code for the upstream 02 sensors. Heard you say in the video you changed the upstream but you were still getting a code. Would you suggest changing the upstreams or downstreams or all of them Lol???
@ahumm82806 жыл бұрын
mistuh Christian your car's ECM is looking for changes in the exhaust air/fuel byproduct before and after the cats. Except you dont have any cats! Test pipes and art pipes, they do not and are incapable performing the duties of catalytic converters. Get some high flow cats and new oxygen senors. Your problem will be solved. Those parts are for racing applications or are only for use in states that dont legally require emmision control devices!

Hey motordyne I have a question, I’m experiencing some type of problems with my g35. I just got a brand new exedy clutch. Before I had some disengagement issues so the car wasn’t fully disengaging. So then I adjusted the pedal and it ended up working and fixed the solution but now I also found out that if I push in the clutch it doesn’t disengage right away. It’ll take maybe a second or so for the rpms to drop after pushing in the clutch so I can’t shift until that happens otherwise I’ll grind. You have any ideas what the problem could be?
@MotordyneG356 жыл бұрын
Adjusting the pedal is not what you need to do. When you replaced the clutch, did you replace the slave cylinder? My video on doing it here........kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHnTg6Gfl9-goNE What year is your G35? How many miles? Have you ever changed the gearbox oil before? Late model 05's and after got the CD009 gearbox which has stronger syncro. My gear box is a CD009 and not a CD001. Old syncros take longer to engage gears, so you have to shift slower to allow them to engage, which is a sign your syncros are going out. Most likely 3rd gear is going out for you? ? ?

Awesome informative and real lly useful review. I wonder if this is comparable or how this compares to what dealerships promote to have a full service record if you use them every time. Also how many man hours would you guestimate you put into servicing yourself? This gives a paper pusher some idea of total parts, maintenance and labor. It could be not as good. The internet thanks you.

Just curious, at what point did you experience the camshaft/crankshaft sensor failure that seems to plague all of our engines?

Did I miss it, in your G35 Repair Journal, you list the date and repairs done but not the prices you paid, or do you place that info elsewhere in your book? Very detailed and informative Information. I am considering buying one like yours! Thumbs UP and Thanks!

Man your just like me with my 2008 infiniti M45 sport. nothing but love and strict maintenance for my car. seriously I have owned alot of different cars and my infiniti is by far the best I have owned. I have 101,000 miles now and hope I get 200,000 plus out of her. what engine oil did you use that whole time? I'm bias to Mobil 1 high mileage full synthetic. that stuff has never let me down. apparently M45S IF MAINTAINED PROPERLY ARE KNOW TO GO 250, 000 MILES PLUS.
@johnandstephanie3776 жыл бұрын
Did the fuel pump actually fail? That's one I have not come across on the forms. My 05 sport coupe is @ 141k miles now.
@MotordyneG356 жыл бұрын
That means your fuel pump is 13 years old, really 14 years now. No mine didn't fail, but anything over 150,000 miles is on borrowed time. Worse case, you will just be stranded somewhere. New fuel pump is $280. Tow truck is $100. If you wait, you will be buying both when it happens to you.

Also, check out my video on how to tell if you have a bad fuel pump....kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHypdqRmmKajhNk

Understand that. This is my second car and I have roadside assistance (free tows) with State Farm . Used them twice (radiator let go last year). I'll wait.
