Infiniti Q50 long term review + modifications (6 years ownership)

The car is officially sold but i wanted to put a video out there to talk about this car and if i still think is a good option in 2022. This is been an incredible car but is time to get an SUV due a baby on the way.

My 1st infiniti was an '03 5AT coupe. Loved it. My current is an '08 5AT coupe, sitting on 175K and she gives me zero issues and pulls like a newer motor. I'll be honest about it, I treat my car like CRAP, and that VQ37 still starts up 1st time every time and runs. HARD.

I got a 2019 Silver Sport at 36.5k miles. You said the issue became less of an issue with those models going forward. Also sick car dude I hope to make mine look cosmetically as good as yours in 1 year.

Yeah the 2019 is clear of some issues but still not as reliable as the older platform, just keep up with maintenance and you should be fine.

Thanks for the review and a clean showcase of all the mods. Will be moving unto a Q50 3.7 from a Honda Accord 03 2.4 so it'll be a significant jump on performance for me. Glad that it's reliable as well. Couldn't find any other cars that are sporty, not a crapbox, decently reliable, a bit utilitarian, beautiful, and affordable. That's a Q50S though right? The front bumper looks more aggressive than a regular Q50 or is it just because of the splitter and the chrome delete?

i had a 07 g35x then i got a 10' g37x now i have a 15' q50s. it has 150k miles on it and still running strong with no issues

I bought 2014 rebuilt title q50 3.7 at 110k miles im at 150k i have havie foot one thing i recommend if you like to use sport mode i suggest doing tune ups every year and really keep up with the maintenance itll last you easily to 200k

I got my 2015 3.7 in 2018. The only modification I made was changing the trunk struts (highly recommend). I bought it at 30K miles in 2018 and have 72K now in 2022. I have had no issues and change the oil every 3-5K miles. If it has good history, it's worth. The only downside I have heard is they rust pretty bad in the northern states.

Beautiful machine! But the stock Q50 3.7 RWD is not slow lol! Bone stock, I ran a best of 13.51 @ 103.88 @ over 900 feet altitude in an 83 degree and humid Georgia late spring temp. Before my mods, my Q was consistently running 13.50-13.70's @ at least 103 mph. The stock 300 HP 3.0 TT is not faster than a stock 3.7, especially above 60 mph. My buddy owned a '18 Q50 Luxe 3.0T RWD, and he'd only get me by a car length to 60 before I slowly reeled him in and then started walking him and pulled away faster the faster we went.. We even switched cars with the same result. He ran a best time of 13.79 @ 102.5 by the way. Not faster than the 3.7 stock vs stock. I don't care what anybody says. Anyway lol, that is one of the nicest Q50's I've ever seen man! That nust have been hard to let go...

Not sure if you’ll still reply to my comment but I just wanted to ask, I currently I have an Is350 with 180k miles and I love that car a tone BUT whenever it is time to upgrade I wouldn’t be opposed to owning an Infiniti. The main things that I look for are reliability and maintenance costs. I am the type to do cross road trips and if I was to get one I’d be using it quite often for that, what would be your opinion on that? Also, with maintenance how was your experience with maintenance costs?

Thanks for watching, for road trips and high miles I would probably keep it stock, will be far more reliable. This car was more of a toy. If I was you I would keep the Lexus, or get something more comfortable, there is not very good rear leg room and trunk space it's pretty useless. Seats don't even fold down. It's a good car but there are far better options, the 3.7 will be more expensive on gas, the 3.0 will be more efficient and faster but those turbos have a lot of issues.

His is a 3.7 and they’re more reliable but have known issues with the trans and the 3.0t is good for modifying but also has some issues some being turbo. Both fairly reliable and fast.

Not sure if this has been said/asked or not, too many comments and not going through each to read them. Where did you get your numbers? I have a 2015 Sport. I'm 329 to the wheel which is roughly 387 crank and I've done far less mods than you have done. You say you have 325, there is no way you have 400 crank. Aside from that, very pretty. Where did you get your seatbelts?

You are the second person that pointed that out so I'll go ahead and say i was wrong, i was going based on 20-25% more, that's what I heard before. And yeah, I've seen people with far less mods making more power, these cars are different, they make what they want to make.

You can do a lot to the 2.0 for sure. I wouldn't do anything for performance, it won't sound nice doesn't matter what you do. A nice clean stance with good wheels and you got yourself a nice car

The front rotors are 2 piece stop tech drilled rotors, they were about $800 just for the front, rears are drilled only. This car doesn't need 2 piece in the rear, overkill. there is no 3m tape showing, might be some dirt or residue from parking outside. In the first few years 2016-2020 this engine was snapping belts and blowing turbos like crazy, not sure if this has been addressed but that's what I was referring to. I appreciate the comment
