Hello there! Your work is just beautiful and inspiring. Can I ask . . . Could I take ink directly from the ink pad with my water brush? Many thanks Kind regards Mollie
@ZucchiniKitty4 жыл бұрын
No, you should not, distress ink is water based and if you add water to the pad it will dilute the ink and make it unusable. It is better to put in on any plastic sheet the add the water to do the painting technique with.

Thank you for showing how to paint the ink pictures. Could you tell us what coloring tools you used for the lion on the front cover. You are such a good teacher.

Lion on the cover is done the same as this page, distress ink as watercolor, plus a bit of pencil to add depth.

You are amazing with those inks, this page is stunning! I have so many watercolor mediums, but I want to get a handful of the distressed inks now, especially after I heard you say they dry quickly. Let’s say I get sic of them, which colors would you recommend? Thanks Karen,I was enthralled thru the whole video, lol 💕💕
@ZucchiniKitty5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Keni, you might want to get the little packs of distress inks, more colors in a set of small cubes. If you are going to use them like I did smaller is easier to put on a plastic sheet. Colors I would recommend depends on what you are planning to color. My favs include browns, blues, red/pink, and greens as follow: vintage photo and walnut stain, tumble glass (blue), aged mahogany and Victorian velvet, green is peeled paint. ~ Hugs and Prayers

Please excuse my ignorance but have you done a video colouring the lion on the cover? I enjoy all of your videos you are so talented. Today I received my copy of "The Ink House" what a beautiful book, even if you just read the story. Would be great if he did a sequel. I will be attempting to colour using Prismacolor. Looking at the book would you recommend pastel pencils for this book?
@ZucchiniKitty5 жыл бұрын
I love this book too. I am sorry there is no video for the lion, but there is a playlist of all the pages I have done on my channel called The Ink House by ZucchiniKitty.

So want to use watercolour technique with my distress inks ... but have a hard time with the pages warping. I do not use the watercolour brushes because they leak too much but even with regular brushes, dabbing off excess water every time, I still get warping. What am I doing wrong?
@ZucchiniKitty5 жыл бұрын
I use a Pentel water brush and I hold it down on the tip (by the brush tip, under the screw area) and I do not squeeze the water chamber. If it becomes to wet I wipe it off on a sponge or wash rag. I have used regular brushes also dip in water and gently rub on the sponge then into the ink. Hope that helps, good luck, Take care
@ginetteregimbal48825 жыл бұрын
Thanks ... will try again. Love the tip on placement of fingers under the screw area. Does the paper still warp?
@ZucchiniKitty5 жыл бұрын
@@ginetteregimbal4882 It really depends on the book, I always recommend you try a test page at the back of the book to see how the water will react on the paper. If there is warping that you don't like you can iron the page after it dries or close the book and put weight on it for a few days and it will help flatten out the page. I use other colorbooks to weight it down. But any time you add water to paper it will cause some kind of warp, it never really bothers me. This book takes to water well.
@Gabbi_Plants5 жыл бұрын
@@ZucchiniKitty I have this book and it's one that I love so much I haven't colored in it yet, if that makes any sense. I HAVE read it to my daughter though, just the story is awesome. I was wondering about the warping as well but I think I may try my watercolors or inktense with it now! Thank you!
