+DomsBlading Basically. Do what feels natural, except when it isn't. If you're rocking the baby, it's because you're influenced by fear of something, probably falling (trying to keep your hands in a position to catch yourself in a fall). Confident skaters aren't restricted by this fear, so they let their bodies move in ways which feel more natural. If you're not moving your arms enough (i.e hanging them limply/keeping them in your pockets), you're either not trying very hard or showing off.

Thanks Bill for all your videos. It’s been 15 years since I used to skate, I bought some Rollerbladers yesterday and today I tried them. I’ve been watching lots of videos and youtube channels about Inline Skating, even the ones from Brazil 🇧🇷 which is where I’m from and where I live, and I can say for sure that your channel is the best one. Keep it up with the good work!

You are just awesome Bill I love your videos so much! Your narration is just fantastic! I skate but I'm pretty poor at it but improving, but I largely just watch your videos for the sheer joy of it. Thank you so much Bill :)

My golly, this helped me gain speed on my route and made me get the much required momentum while going uphill. But I felt my lower back like it was the first day on back on inline skates. I wonder how much the backswing contributes to the energy transfer? Itseems to give me an additional push when the forward swinging hand has run its course and I push the shoulder of my back swinging hand further up. It's like a finishing touch, helping transfer the weight to the outside of my skates. I hope this isn't wrong, for it seems to work for me. Maybe this shouldn't be a separate move and I should try to time the back and forward swing of each arm to happen simultaneously?

at 1:58 in the circle, does the low upper body posture help speed or centripedal force? I am thinking this is a hockey thing. I would be much more erect but my background is figure skating. I like the fact you show how to use the arms. Many skaters could benefit from that, not only because of power efficiency as you point out, but also from an aesthetic point of view.
