Fascinating channel. Question- Why does the UK need to be in the European Court of Human Rights, if all these individual rights and landmark court decisions, Bill of Rights, Magna Carta, Habeas Corpus, Prima Facie, already exist in UK law?

The account of this case in JD Casswell's memoir 'Only 5 Hanged', is really good

Irskin and Garrow argued for innocent until proven guilty. A marvel of law. And the basis of more countries system of law than any other. Looking at you France

I am a A level student . I watch this video a million times, I love it ; however I don’t understand how his appealing his conviction has anything to do with who is to prove guilt

Read the judgement, it will maybe make it clear, but i still suspect some would debate and disagree, that is the nature of the law. black is white, and white is black and the merry go round starts to spin

Woolmington claimed his intension when he brought his gun to the house was to shoot himself, not his wife, but the gun went off accidentally, killing his wife. Intent is 9/10th of the law. Probably a lie, but it's upto the prosecutor to prove intent to murder, or go for the lower crime of manslaughter if conviction is not safe, not for the defendant to prove his innocence and the judge must not direct the jury. They had already tried him for murder with a guilty verdict, no option of manslaughter given to the jury, couldn't charge him again for manslaughter under double jeopardy rules, so his conviction had to be quashed. His neck was saved on a technicality.

Strange outcome. His wife died at his hands via the shotgun. That, he was guilty of her death can't be argued but a charge of murder was shaky, maybe manslaughter would have been more successful? I hope he wasn't free to go?

Can you condense the video and cut out the music and nonsense narration?
