PS-90 vs MP-7?
Oliver N
What are your thoughts of the Desert Tech MDR filling the role of a modern WA2000?
Luke H
In the event of the US going to war with a country with infantry equipped with armor plates, do you still think that 5.56 will be sufficient, or maybe a new cartridge or projectile will be required?
thanks for all the great content, keep it up!
Will W
Could you do a video or go into how to set up ammunition for long term storage?
Jacob M
Do the advantages of fixed or variable magnification optics outweigh the speed of a red dot in a competition environment?
Black Dots
Outside of a new technology (e.g., energy weapons) do you think there will be a small arm sufficiently better than the AR that would warrant the expense/time to change platforms?
Tim K
What sort of challenges would you like to incorporate into a two gun match but haven't yet due to safety, budget, time and/or effort reasons? What sort of awesome ideas have you had to scrap in the past because the budget just wouldn't allow it?
Matthew J
Aside from shooting, what one skill would most 2Gun shooters benefit most from improving?
Mattia S
How good or bad is the G41 (both W and M)? Would you rather have a good bolt rifle in match/combat?
Egan R
You’ve mentioned several times how difficult it is to break into the gun market with a new or retro product (Hudson, HMG etc) how does brownells keep hitting it out of the park with functional, reasonably priced retro products?
Stephen T
Any plans to evaluate the BRN-180 upper from Brownells in an upcoming ACM?
Ian
What's the best, by your standard, uniform or costume from Desert Brutality?
Chris C
Second time asking. Aluminum GI mags vs Steel GI mags vs Polymer mags (PMAG) benefits and downsides?
Ferrous
2nd time asking: Do you guys have a rubric or bible for how to put together 2Gun stages or advice on running matches for those of us who can't make it to Arizona?
Anthony H
Which youtube channels do you watch and who would you really like to collab with?
Jordan W
What’s the biggest (or most surprising) lesson learned from running old equipment at 2-gun events (good or bad)?
London Jolly
When do you see large calibers being allowed back into yours guys' 2gacm / DB / etc.?
Max O
Which pair would you rather have?
TT33/pps 43 or 1911a1/m1928a1 thompson?
John S
What's up with the straight-out 3-to12 o'clock bolt handles on the older WW1-era and earlier rifles? Seems worse in every way than modern elbowed (for lack of a better word [doglegged?]) bolt handles. No one thought of that earlier?
Arturo C
Given that the pool of shooters is smaller than pistol or rifle/carbine, are there any regularly scheduled sub-machine gun (not semi-auto variant) matches or are they just one-off events?
Patrick W
Would either of you be willing to shoot a match with a Desert Eagle?
Jacob R
Why does it seem that French military surplus ammo doesn't stand up as well as other countries?
David S
Are you willing to promote matches that the discord is organizing squads for like High Desert 3 Gun June 7-9?
Time-Travel Bushcraft
Are there plans to release the old paid video content from before Patreon?
Kyle T
Of all the guns you personally own, what is your favorite one to shoot besides your WWSD carbine?
Nicholas C
Do you think, within the limitations of a match environment, there is a way to implement the use of cover into stage design at something like 2GACM or DB?
Teddy
Bipods in practical shooting: Useful benefit, or useless weight?
Matthew M
Asked this last month. Would you guys be willing to do a 2 gun versus with a m14/m1a vs a BM59 to see what advantages the bm59 offers, if any?
Daniel R.
So you guys have covered a wide array of old and older guns on the channel. What was your most fun to run through a match?
Mike
Do you think you'll be doing any more parts kit builds like you did with the CETME L?
Molly
We recently saw the culmination of a C&Rsenal project called 'Project Lightening' of which Ian was a participant.
Ian, was that just not the most awesomeest of things?
Karl, would you be willing to consider similar crossovers yourself in the future?
Timo G
If you both agree that the Cobray Terminator is the worst shotgun and the Zip 22 is the worst pistol ever. So to your opinion, what is the worst rifle ever then?
Luis R
Thoughts on the ptr-32 rifle? Currently, it’s one of the few options for 7.62x32 and ak mags in my ban state.
Paul R
Karl, I am curious about your previous experience with fencing and would like to know your opinion on things like HEMA as I have always been interested in blades as well as firearms.
Mathias L
Horray, The NFA is repealed! How would common use of machineguns change how 2gun matches are designed?
Brian R
Has there ever been a case where a "last ditch" weapon that helped?

On the book or what not about writing stage design and such. why not just make a simple public text document, that you add to every now and then. Thus it's never a big thing at any moment, but something you build up over time. There for, you just make it at your own pace and share with the patreons subscribers.

I think the key to the success Brownell’s has had is due to them really being attentive to the market and giving the customer truly what the want, AFTER the very dedicated fan base validated the product for them by there being an existing and successful retro market already... except that the product wasn’t a finished rifle, but individual parts the fans would then assemble. Want proof? NoDakSpud has made those retro receivers for years... and now they supply them to Brownells. R&D was a done thing!

This was my thought as well. The STEN really was a last ditch weapon for the Brits after Dunkirk. It didn't win the war for them, but it sure helped them to win it.

I would be interested in that book as well. However. I think the potential pool of buyers would be slightly smaller than people who would by an AR15 in 8mm Kurtz. That being said would you consider putting up some stage designs or general design advise on the Inrange website or as a Patreon perk?
@herknorth8691

My first thought was the same, but then I realized that Ian and Karl's following advice was what I was already doing: look up old 2GACM vids and replicate the stages. Do that for a bit and you'll start to develop your own style for making good stages.

Another thing about Brownells is that they are a well established company already, so I’d think that if a new product fails, it’s not the only thing they’ve got going on.
@scottwatrous
@scottwatrous 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's actually the biggest thing. They are already a relatively huge sales and distribution company that also has dabbled with having in-house products for a long time. They furthermore can easily look at the analytics of their own sales and use that plus their connections to draw accurate sales projections, which lets them justify putting a small effort into commissioning the machine-time to create new parts. If Brownells saw that there was some massive demand for some obscure old gun and thought there was a business case for making it, they would have the funding and the data to back it up. They also would have no pressure or need to tell anyone until it was ready. Small companies just can't start out engineering a complete, complex system, and go from 0 - 60 with things like production, customer support, etc. But big companies can divert some small portion of their operations budget to some interesting new ideas, if they have the right sort of leadership.

There's a remark to be made of Panzerfaust. Ian and Karl talk about it in mostly German context, but Panzerfausts were used in final battles on the Finnish front. They had real effect, because distances were so short and most of the Finnish antitank guns were situated to East Karelia, not to Karelian Isthmus (due to misinterpretation of Finnish high command about the Schwerpunkt of Soviet attack). So, in the Finnish context, Panzerfausts were able to tip the tide by causing so heavy losses to Soviet tanks that they had to take a break from continuing the attack. By the time they prepared to launch a new attack, race for Berlin had been started and Stalin decided the troops that were preparing to march to Helsinki were better needed to march to Berlin.

Over my life I've shot about 150-200 rounds of ww2 produced .45 ball. Stuff was just stored in the cardboard box in a US and then Canadian basement for the whole time. They looked slightly discolored, but other than that they shot fine. Also shot some .22lr that was just over a hundred years old. Though there was one or two misfire/hand fire for the .22lr. Ammo stays fresh longer than the humans who purchase it.

I would really love to see a short series from you on the battle of the Little Bighorn and the various rifles, carbines and pistols used there, by both sides. I think you two as serious shooters and historians, could really add something useful on this subject. As a PS-90 owner, I can attest to everything said here. If I heard a loud noise outside my home and I had to reach for a weapon, my PS-90 would no question be my go-to. It just works, it shoots super flat (which means it's super intuitive), it's got all those rounds on tap, it can punch through anything short of a plate, and it's discreet.

Tangential point on "who do you follow" for viewers of this excellent channel. You'd probably enjoy the content of the following people if their area of interest aligns with yours. In my opinion they're roughly similar to Forgotten Weapons. - "Chieftain's Hatch" (Armor/tanks). - "Greg's Planes and Automobiles" (WWII airplanes). - "Drachinifel" (Naval Arms/Ship history). - "Bo Time", the "side cast" portion of the channel (WWII airplanes)

I disagree on the straight bolt handle vs. bent bolt handle. You have to move your hand further with a straight bolt. First, you have to move it further up to reach the handle, and then you have to rotate it until your hand is over the top of the receiver. It is especially inconvenient when shooting from prone.
@dragonsword7370
@dragonsword7370 5 жыл бұрын
The best reason for having the bent bolt would be it seats your hand at a near ready position top grip your trigger and handle. Saying this as having not figured one before[either type] I'd say you have a quicker leveraging action with the straight bolt if you slam the bolt around like a mosin-nagant [like a tractor part]. Just an observational opinion I could change if I ever try them both and form another opinion.
@MacDorsai
@MacDorsai 5 жыл бұрын
@@dragonsword7370 I have a Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 with a straight bolt and a Finnish M39 (Mosin-Nagant) with a bent handle. I've also had Mausers with straight and bent handles. Universally, the bent handle has worked better. With a bent handle, you start doing something as soon as the hand leaves the grip. The ONLY way, in my opinion, that the straight handle is superior is if there is some problem opening it in the first place. Stuck case, fouling in the action, etc. You can exert more leverage, more rapidly with a straight bolt. I would argue that history has shown the superiority of the bent bolt handle. Early Mausers had straight handles. Carbines generally had bent handles. But after WWI, all German made Mausers had bent handles. The Lee-Enfields all had bent handles. The M1903, M1917, P14 had bent handles. You won't find a commercial bolt action with a straight handle. If they were just an experiment found to be inferior, they'd have been abandoned.

Love your channel! Sorry to add to the complexity of your video editing, but this suggestion would be a FANTASTIC feature to your Q&A's. Flash, on screen, a quick photo, or drawing of a firearm mentioned in a question. I enjoy your thoughts and opinions, but some of the question simply throw out a model (say like, "G41, Both W & M") and I have absolutely no reference in my mind. Your thoughts and opinions then become moot to some extent, from the ignorant viewers like me. Just a suggestion.

I don't know if Luis R is reading this, but I have some experience related to his question re the PTR-32. Like Carl and Ian have said, the PTR is a really heavy gun for what it is (though the build quality is excellent). The M+M M10x might be something to consider if it's not specifically banned in the state in question. I looked at every major non-AK 7.62x39 option on the market at the time and I don't think the M10x has any peers in that regard, except the Bren 2 in 7.62x39, which is more expensive and was not available at the time I bought my M10x. Maybe this helps! Great show, guys.

On moving or inconsistent targets, you could borrow from other sports with inconsistent competitors and targets. I am involved in Dressage, and the manoeuvres you ride can be very different experiences and you may not ride the same 'course' depending on the level and the test. In that case we judge, not on time, but on form. How well was it ridden? How well did horse and rider communicate? How organised was the rider? Then you have the individual movements, which instead of 1-10, how well did you move, it is 1-10, how you moved. The time to ride the course also varies depending on the rider, their level, their disabilities, and their skill levels, all of which is taken into account. Instead of scoring for hits at range, you could score on the competitors ability to adapt to the situation by adjusting their movements and handling.

-Moving Targets: a friend of mine took me to an 3D archery parcour a few years ago where they had set up a "cheap" moving target. They fixed a rope between 2 trees at an angle (the point where it was fixed on the left tree was higher thant the point where it was fixed on the right tree) and hung a target on the rope so it would slide from the higher end to the lower end. (i think they used a plastic pipe or part of a hose so it would "glide" better) Then they fixed a second, longer rope to the target and around the left tree and to the shooting position. So when in position you would pull the long rope and thus the target to the higher end. Fix the Rope with your foot and nock the arrow. Let go of the rope and shoot at the moving target. -Cover: my suggestion: with a big light projecting at the shooting position and the shooter has to use the provided cover to be able to see the target.

I estimate(while being a little generous with propellant efficiency) that even at 3,000 fps, that new 6.5mm cartridge would have a similar amount of recoil(in Newton seconds) to a 7.62 NATO's, though with a slightly higher muzzle energy. That doesn't take into account the increased velocity possibly making this recoil "sharper" and even harsher.
@ostiariusalpha
@ostiariusalpha 5 жыл бұрын
The recoil is to be reduced through the use of suppressors as standard issue, and to deal with the considerable muzzle blast that such a high pressure cartridge would produce.

Regarding the SMG question, Rockcastle Shooting Center in Park City, KY has a SMG match scheduled for May 17-18. I believe they have expanded it to include semi PCCs, but not completely sure. Last I heard was if they don't get enough signups by May 1, the match may be cancelled. Rockcastle is a super nice facility and have some major matches, but it seems even they are having trouble getting enough folks to shoot the match. If anyone is interested please contact them and don't take my word for any of this. However, it seems it's kind of like our boys said in the Q&A, there is just a limited number of folks out there willing to bring out their $20,000 plus or minus SMGs and run them through a true match setting. They do exist, but the numbers are limited.
