Tired of persistent, unhealthy food cravings? How about belly fat that just won’t budge?
Well, when it comes to poor metabolic health, there are two things I want you to know:
Number 1: You’re NOT alone. The majority of people are what we call metabolically INflexible - and are therefore not able to burn body fat for fuel.
Number 2: There IS something you can do about it.
That’s why for this episode, I invited a very special guest who couldn't agree more. She’s Colleen Cutcliffe - the CEO and co-founder of Pendulum Therapeutics - a gut-health supplement company I consider to be one of the most advanced.
In this episode, Colleen and I reveal Pendulum’s newest gut health solution and why the secret to supercharging your metabolism has everything to do with your GUT.
On this episode you’ll learn:
- The insane benefits of Akkermansia (and how it can improve your health beyond your gut)
- Why no one was able to get ahold of the “holy grail” of gut health - until now (and how you can too!)
- The latest advancements in the supplement industry and how how THIS could help you metabolize sugar and carbs more efficiently
- Why you NEED butyrate-producing strains (especially for achieving weight loss goals)
- How this “weight loss molecule” can help you say goodbye to food cravings and support satiety with every meal
- The bacteria strain that has become the future of probiotics (and how it could help revolutionize YOUR health)
- Why a western diet can affect the capability of your gut bugs to absorb fiber (and why it’s a MAJOR concern)
- The crucial connection between your gut and your brain health - and how to synergistically support them

I ordered a two month supply of Akkemansia , which is quite expensive. after the end of the first month, I heard a podcast stating that acidic foods such as balsamic vinegar that I have with every meal , will destroy probiotics, including Akkamansia. I messaged pendulum nutrition, the distributor of Akkamansia to see if this is true, and they confirmed that aidic foods like balsamic vinegar will destroy this strain of probiotics. So what this means is that I’ve basically taking the first month of akkamansia and have thrown it down the drain with very little benefit. It’s sad that during this podcast or in the information from Pendulum that is important message is not mentioned.

thats absolute nonsense,... every bite you eat every day, every meal, has to pass through your stomach-acid barrier anyway and this is at around 2 log-10 decades higher in acidity than balsamic vinegar (pH of 1-1.5 in contrast to pH 2.5 to 3.5 in Balsamic vinegar). For this reason the live bacterial preparation is encapsuled in a protective container (the capsule) that will only dissolve further down your digestive tract, the intestine. even if it was partially opened inside the stomach already , there you have 300million units per capsule and tightly compressed, so that if say only 25 single cells out of the 300million would survive, they still could develop their beneficial potential, since the intestine provides temperatures and pH that simply provide an ideal environment for their cellular division and exponential growth within a very short period of time.... so it only is true that they will certainly flush down the drain as soon as you poop, but they will for sure have participated for your health benefit by ligning out your gut wall as intended to protect your inside from unwanted intruders.

I'm just going to say this. I know some microbiologists that have been trying to find a way to administer AKK for 10 years and spent a lot of money trying to do it. If Pendulum has figured out a way to protect AKK from oxygen, stomach acid, bile, digestive enzymes as well as light, then hats off to them. Up until now the only way to get AKK introduced externally is in a pitch black vacuum inserted rectally. I hope Colleen is on the up and up, I just got my first shipment and it doesn't even recommend prebiotics to take along with the capsule.

Is there evidence that uou can't get this from amending you're diet to increase the polyphenols and allowing the body to grow its own? If you have to take this supplement daily for life despite cutting out sugar, cereals, processed food then it doesnt make sense? If modify your diet then how long does it take to initiate the implantation of the bacteria to then have your body and new diet no longer require supplementation?

Sorry, I gave a totally nonsense answer to your question (and I'm sure I'm not the one you were asking in any case!) But the single Akkermansia is quite a bit more expensive, and contains inulin, which some people don't do well with. The Metabolic Daily has less Akkermansia, which is probably preferable if taking on a regular basis, no inulin, but four other probiotics which are either helpful or which produce butyrate. Increased butyrate is one of the major things we are looking for in gut health.

It appears many folks are frustrated they have not yet perfectly sorted out precisely which strains are needed and which cause problems for specific individuals so they just throw up their arms and carelessly yell the overused mantra of '''more ''diversity'' of any kind will do''' like a lazy cop out. Why be precise with a rifle when you can haphazardly and foolishly just blanket the whole area with a wide swath shotgun?
