i was protestant and hated the catholic church. met a girl, became my girlfriend. we had fights all the time about the catholic church. she is apart of the neocatechumenal way inside the catholic church. she invited me to attend her eucharists (mass ) every saturday. i was drawn to it. at the same time this happened, i came across sam shamoun who helped me see how great the catholic church is. i started looking into apologetics. then i looked into the early church. then i became catholic and joined the neocateechumenal way (highly recommend you look into it). then i found the voice of reason Lol. God provides! Glory to Christ.

What I would tell you to do is the same thing I did, tho your choice may be different than mine we must all choose the paths we truely believe. Put down the phone and go to some liturgies and talk to some priest. I went to Coptic, Catholic, Greek, and Russian churches before I found the one I felt called to. Then just enjoy the journey, friendly hint read the early church fathers the gospels and acts, pray and fast. May God bless and guide you 🙏

The ACNA Anglican church was my stepping stone to becoming Catholic. Grew up Assemblies of God, got burnt out and tired of the irrelevance for God. Became Anglican, learned church history, wnjoyed all the feast days, wondered why we had so much in common with Catholics but weren’t, learned about the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and, long conversion story short, came into full communion with the One Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church this last March(2024) and have loved being apart of Christ’s Church and Kingdom ever since.

I‘m sure Pastor Steve knows all these bible passages you mentioned in which Abraham is called Father of the Christians and Paul calling himself „Father“ for the believers. The Problem with Protestants like Pastor Steve is firstly that they don’t read the verses in the context of the scripture. That is a general problem of pastors like him. If you read a single verse isolated from the verses before and after, you misinterpret it very easily, looking only on the literal word and don’t notice the real spiritual meaning of what Jesus meant with „call no one father“. Secondly if Protestants like pastor Steve read all the Bible verses you mentioned, they always find excuses why Paul is allowed to call himself „Father“ for the believers by inventing things that are nowhere written or by twisting how Catholics understand the word „Father“ in relation to the pope by claiming for example we would consider the pope as God or put him on the same level like Christ. I don’t get rid of the feeling they do it on purpose because they are afraid of the truth and aren’t ready to leave the lies. Because as soon they would admit that we are right, their conscience would force them to join the Catholic Church, but the evil spirit let’s them to hold on lies.

Just so people understand, the man in the video railing against Catholics (Steve Anderson) is a fringe pastor who has raised the ire of many groups including Messianic Jewish leaders and Protestant sects alike. His positions are not representative of Protestantism, and it would be a great inaccuracy if his videos were used that way. He has taught many things, including hatred against the Jewish people, once saved always saved to the point of saying people can repent and then commit suicide because it doesn't matter, claiming certain sinners cannot repent, and expresses a radical hatred filled with slurs and derogatory terms for various groups he opposes. He also teaches people that they need to eat certain foods and avoid others before fasting so they can be mentally prepared (his own list of foods, not kosher foods). His doctrines are legalistic, unbiblical, and inaccurate. His following would be accurately described as a cult following. It would be a disservice to hold him up as an example of anything except himself. I remember how many held up the Westboro Baptist Church (so-called) as an example of Christianity. That one church mostly comprised of family members was used as a strawman by atheists for over ten years to justify their opposition to Christianity as a whole. Now I think the same is being done with Anderson.

I have a question for those of you who want to attack the Catholic Church and or Eastern Orthodox Churches. If every church claims to be led by the Spirit, how come they don't agree since there's only one Holy Spirit? How come there are so many Bible translations that claim to be the "Word of God," yet they don't agree? They're all supposed to be divinely inspired, yet they don't agree. Lastly, why attack a church for sins of the past when almost every Protestant denomination supported and some still support the doctrine of minorities being second-class citizens? After all, these people claim to be holy but Sunday is the most segregated day in America. Alright you "holy" trolls, answer these questions without quoting the book put together by Catholics and Orthodox Christians. Use your best Bible translation to support your beliefs and let's see how many different responses we get on this thread. Prove to the rest of us that your version and interpretation is better than what's been taught by Sacred Tradition for over 2000 years.

Every conversation about theology I can recall always struck me as an object lesson in the Dunning Kruger effect. Those who know and understand the least are always the loudest and most confident in sharing their opinions. The contrast between them and how the Jesuits I was taught by in school behaved. The latter were steeped in degrees, spoke and read the ancient languages fluently, and in many cases had spent their entire lives studying scripture. They'd offer their opinions, but always with humility, and never with an attitude of divine certitude. Smart people understand there is much they don't know. Dumb people always insist they know everything.

Actually you are distorting the meaning behind them calling Abraham father and the difference in calling a priest father. Abraham is the literal father of Israel, he IS their ancestral father. Calling a prieest "father" is NOT the same thing. Calling a priest "father" is exactly what the passage says not to do. It never says that you shouldn't refer to your actual father, or your ancestral father as father. It is referring to a spiritual father, which is what calling a priest "father" is doing. Also, using teachings of the heretic Paul doesn't help as his teachings went against the teachings of Y'shua and the 12 apostles. Before the "church" ran the Jewish believers who strictly followed the teachings of Y'shua and the 12 apostles out of Jerusalem, a trial was held at the Council of Jerusalem where Paul was found to be a heretic and was told to go back and teach the gentiles correctly about following the Torah and the Sabbath. But instead, he murdered James, the brother of Y'shua.

On the part about not pridefully fasting I think it’s worth noting also that Catholic individuals are also human. Some Catholics probably don’t always follow this teaching and do this pridefully. We all make mistakes and are flawed but the point is still that the Catholic Church DOES teach not to do this. Which is the important thing.we can all be better!
