I agree with your assessment of The Terminator. I popped it in just to check the beginning and ended up watching it straight through to the end. That is an excellent disc. You left out my favorite of the year. Dune II, this is an amazing disc and great movie overall. The sound track and visuals are such a treat and way to show off your theater.

Totally agree with your comments about The Wolfman. It looks and sounds fantastic and is very entertaining. I think it was criminally underrated on its theatrical release. I ordered The Twister Ultimate Collectors Limited Edition shortly after your original announcement and received #1277. Looks like they are almost sold out now. Great list, Terminator was my favourite so far, just an incredible upgrade from any previous releases. Though I had to turn the base up on the Dolby Atmos mix, which otherwise was a massive bonus. Also loved Twister, amazing Dolby Atmos, the film was so much better than I remember it. Though it did sound like someone was tuning a radio in one of my speakers in the scene where they are taking cover in the garage lol. I’m looking forward to watching Chronicles of Riddick and Alien Romulus. Just need to buy Far and Away, Galaxy Quest and North by north west now.

The Terminator 4K blew my mind but I’ve collected a lot of great ones this year thanks to you. Speaking of: do you know anything about Anora’s 4k disc release? Is it confirmed internally? It released digitally yesterday but I want to get the disc. I can’t find any info about it.

I believe this year we had a lot of great 4K transfers but your top five or definitely accurate I just start collecting myself and majority of my 4K’s are brand new releases and I’m gonna say Deadpool Wolverine and alien Romulus are my favourites of the year. It helps you too They’re my favourite movies of this year. They look amazing and the Atmos mix, man it is a spectacle. Can’t wait to see how 2025 will be next. I’m looking forward to smile 2 and sonic 3 in their 4K transfers in the next year. 👌💯💯👍

2024 has been brilliant for physical media. However, the one issue I have are some of the boutique labels don't sell in the UK. Which means a hefty import price. One example is Conan and Conan the Destroyer. Silly money. But apart from that, my shelf is looking healthy :)

Great review and great Top 10 List! Glad to see The Fall Guy on your list, as that is one of my top favorites for the year as well. That being said, I recommend the Theatrical Cut of The Fall Guy (which I saw in the theaters) as it is more enjoyable, funny, and "consistent" than the Extended Cut. At its core, The Fall Guy is a romantic comedy with loads of action, and the Theatrical Cut stays true to that premise. This movie was original, smart, sly, funny, action-oriented, and emotional ... and was literally firing on all thrusters while it hit ALL of the above adjectives. I haven't had this much fun at a movie theater since the 1990's. The Extended Cut introduced some hallucinatory aspects (a feature more commonly found in horror / thriller / SF films; or perhaps in cartoons -- e.g., Who Framed Roger Rabbit). While those techniques are to be expected in movies like Jacob's Ladder or 12 Monkeys (think Bob, the man with the raspy voice), I found them to be out of place in The Fall Guy. I also found the comedic segments in the Extended Cut to be over long, overstaying their welcome -- which made them less funny. Because the Theatrical Cut was a more tightly edited movie, it avoided these pitfalls and delivered an overall superior package. I found it to be one of the best entertainment movies of the year.

Terminator, Galaxy Quest, and Riddick were amazing. Alien Romulus was a quality 4k steelbook and transfer, but the movie is overhyped. I think the Crow and Aliens were also memorable releases for me this year.

I have the Twister 4k US release and I have to say I wasn't impressed with it. But you've been right SEVERAL times on other disks so I think I'll go ahead and get the limited edition one to see the difference in quality.

One thing that always ticks me off is that The Bob's Burgers movie got a 4K release at Best Buy for a limited time, then the time ended and now I either have to spend 150 dollars, just settle for the Blu-ray, or hope it gets another version released.
