It’s functional, but to restore the building to the architect’s intended turn of the century aesthetic and room layout is going to cost a fortune. I’m not sure why people think drywall and gaudy marble is tasteful? Then there is the location problem. Manhattan is a shopping mall. I would pay big money to NOT live in a bunch of chain stores. One of my favorite things about living in the City is you never know what’s in the random buildings you walk by. I’ve been to the craziest places you’d never imagine could be there... clubs you get to through a stock room of a bodega, casino under a fish market, incredible restaurants hidden in the back of a taco stand, huge luxury lofts in crappy neighborhoods. Never ends.

@A Bcd - House prices are sky high in Australia because the government gives investors generous tax breaks. Also, we have high immigration which feeds demand. It's a giant Ponzi scheme but this one never crashes. We've just come out of a 3-year housing "slump" - prices fell by about 10% - 15%. I get it that the price of this apartment is so high because of the location, but if it was placed where I live (Poland) I wouldn't pay $200,000 for it and I don't care that the owners invested 2 mills in it. This is one of the most tasteless apartments I have ever seen. Patterns and colors look as if it was a hospital. Black and white checkerboard on the floor of the "luxurious study", which is incredibly small, would probably be attractive to an Illuminati member. A picture of M. Monroe in the bathroom?
