If I were to choose between this and that lower kabete house, I would choose this without a second thought... The kabete one is too sophisticated and lacks privacy... 0.75 acres in Karen and that simple yet magnificent bungalow is absolute value for money. The greenery and everything about the house beats the kabete one hands down! Good job

My family lived in Upperhill Elgon rd in the early 80's when it was residential. Those houses were unique with quandrangles. They were probably on an acre lot. I never even went to the end of the compound where the servant quarters were located. They had stand alone garages. That area was one of the most quiet and beautiful places to live then.

@@MansaPlus Yes, was fortunate enough to have lived there. My parents were civil servants, housing was some of the priviledges that govt advanced them back then. Kileleshwa all the way from Shell Petrol Station, Police Station, Tabere Cresent, Kenya High, Jacaranda, Mwingi road all the way to Othaya Road and Lavington was all Bungalows with live fences, no wall fences, just quiet serene neighbourhoods with birds chirping sounds, every compound had dogs with MBWA KALI signs on the gate, although there were Lanes and Closes that had barriers of no entry mostly VVIPs and Wazungus used to live there, rivers/streams running through near St. Georges Primary to Yaya Centre. We used to go for adventures-swimming and fishing. I cant trace those streams and rivers now. Na sio zamani, ni juzi tu, hapa 1987 to 1993. Apartments started being put up along Kikambala road in 2004 to date. Unbelievable that all those areas that i have mentioned have apartments sprung on every corner. If that’s the trend, then we are highly likely to see the same fate befalling on Karen in the next 20 years.

An old house is not necessarily rustic. I agree with @Iamkenitoh. It's too old-school, and for that price point quite bland. I love the compound though, very nice. Yes, thought so too. The house doesn't do anything for me personally. I somehow feel it's underdone and incomplete, and the stone look isn't flattering at all. It feels like a place you go to retire and wait for death. Gives me that sanatorium kind of feeling. Strong opinion, I know, but there's something resigned about it. It's too understated to be that closed off. But the compound is top-notch, just doesn't match the house. I think I'm too dense to understand the appeal of the house, but the land, I 100% get it.
