I watch from the USA and really appreciate and value your reviews. Many thanks! I've noticed no Arcteryx reviews recently. Has your relationship with them ended? Other? Keep up the great work!!

It's a shame it's not fully waterproof, otherwise it looks like a gorgeous warm jacket. It would be nice to see a video on how to store these jackets, as you couldn't keep that jacket in a stuff sack in the summer months, could you? Cheers!
@trekitt
@trekitt 2 жыл бұрын
Well, 'technically' it's not waterproof, but it sort of is. It's essentially just regular Gore-Tex but without the taped seams, so it will put up with a lot of rain. We'll add that idea to the list! But in short, it's best storing them uncompressed and in a dry environment. Harry

I often find myself between sizes (s/m) with many brands. I’m 5’10” and a 155-160 lbs, with a 30 waste and 38” chest. Looking at the sizing chart I would instinctively go with a small based on my measurements, but have tried on some other Rab jackets in the store and find the mediums fit well. I like the way the axion and electron pro jackets fit in the medium (though would not want any more restrictive than the electron in size medium to wear light fleece and vest for layering). What sizing would you recommend in the Infinity? Many thanks!
@trekitt
@trekitt 8 ай бұрын
If you like the fit of the medium Electron then we'd suggest sticking with medium for the Infinity Alpine. If you happen to be local to the Hereford Service Centre you can also request both a small and medium across to try on via our customer service team - support@trekitt.co.uk

Looking for an everyday wear winter jacket for Helsinki (-20°C-0°C). More city use than hiking/climbing. Looking to buy a Rab jacket, but not quite sure which one. Stuck between the Resolution down jacket, the Infinity, and the Valiance. I tried on the Batura but that was just too warm to be used in anything warmer than -20°C. Any suggestions?
@trekitt
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
Ooh, probably Infinity. Valiance might not be enough and I think the Resolution could be too much, especially with layers underneath.

Hi guys, I’m having a hard time deciding between the following Rab jackets. Infinity Positron Nebula Pro Electron Pro Can you talk about which one you like for backpacking (I do a lot in Sweden and Finland) Thoughts? Also, how do you compare these with the ArcT Thorium? Thanks!! Cb
@trekitt
@trekitt 2 жыл бұрын
I'd be looking more towards the Electron or Nebula for active use. I'm going to assume you'll have snow more than rain, so the Electron's down filling shouldn't be affected. So, Electron would be great, but if you need the reassurance that if it does get wet then it'll still stay warm, then Nebula. The Thorium is pretty similar to the Electron; the largest difference is the fit. Hope that helps. Harry

Is there a big difference in warmth between the Positron Pro and this? I have a Positron Pro, but it is like being in an oven, no matter what the temperature outside is...!
@robt9048
@robt9048 Жыл бұрын
No its not much difference in warmth. If you want to go a step down in insulation have a look at the Electron Pro jacket, its still a warm jacket but you wont overheat if the temperature around 0°C.
@ipodgooroo
@ipodgooroo Жыл бұрын
@@robt9048 I have an Electron Pro as well actually, but I find the large too small for layers underneath and the XL of the regular Electron I had was a bit big.

Would you recommend a L or M of this jacket for someone who's almost the same height as you (189cm) but lanky (38-39" chest, 32" waist 73kg)? Afraid M might have short sleeves
@trekitt
@trekitt 11 ай бұрын
Medium should be fine-in my experience Rab's sleeves are pretty long and it doesn't differ hugely between M & L. Opting for the large would most likely result in a baggy chest/waist which would negatively impact the overall warmth.

Hi guys. I'm trying to decide for a jacket that will be used for a bit of hiking and ski(so maybe a bit breatheable) but mostly around the city everyday. Looking for something warm(as I tend to be easily cold) and a bit waterproof or maybe quite weather resistant. Are there any relevant options out there? I ve been looking at this one and the Rab Infinity Microlight, anything else you would suggest? Thanks a lot 😁
@trekitt
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
For everyday use/popping on when stationary during hiking trips, both of your options above would be ideal. I'd personally find both too warm when moving a little faster, but that does depend on where you live and the temps you experience.

@@trekitt Thanks a lot for the fast reply! And for some slightly more active uses like skiing? Could you please suggest some options for this? Should I go for synthetic instead of down for mote breathability maybe?
@trekitt
@trekitt Жыл бұрын
@@nikoskarageorgos1291 It depends where you are and how cold it'll be. Breathability largely depends on the fabrics surrounding the insulation and the specific type of synthetic insulation - neither is necessarily more breathable than the other.

@@trekitt It's about a ski trip in Alpes , French side end of next January so should be quite cold. But I want to get something that can also use while I stroll around the city in a cold/slightly wet day. Maybe I'm asking too much😅

I sold mine, as I wore it about eight days in one year. I think RAB may have (over)developed something for which there is little market/demand. It's almost too warm in 0-5 degrees F with mild sustained activity, for example. I suppose with just a long-sleeved polyester shirt underneath one could justify its capabilities. Otherwise, I liked it. I went to the Electron Pro in XL with an outer synthetic insulated shell as needed. The Neutrino/Positron XL is too large on me, and the L is too small. I’m pretty fit for my age. I love my RAB, but many of their renowned jackets don't fit me very well. I find RAB sizing somewhat annoying and limiting in specifications. I’m older, but I have a true 44” chest - the most critical measurement. When RAB calls their L at 43, don’t expect that an L will be comfortable for 44, which is a much more common US measure, even in this relaxed fit - the only insulated jacket in their portfolio that claims a relaxed fit. It’s also a tad short if you try to size slightly down; a big deal when coverage is what you want in this sort of piece. RAB creates a tedious no-man’s land between 43 L and 46 XL. Only their trim/technical/slim XL fits me well - a small selection in their insulation products. However, L is my hands - down best fit for their shell pieces. Why should this be? I’d guess probably a lot of males find most RAB sizing frustrating and/or unfulfilling. This is rather ironic when performance is the name of their game. It’s hard to support performance when you aren’t confident in the fit.

Sizing is always a contentious issue when it comes to outdoor clothing, even within the same brand and understandably that can lead to frustration. A big part of the reason we stock so many different brands is to try and offer alternative fits so we have more ability to outfit our customers in something that fits well and will therefore be better suited to your outdoor adventures. It sounds like Rab insulation may just not be quite the right fit for you, Mountain Equipment offer a similar jacket to the infinity in their Kryos Jacket, that may be something to consider in an alternative fit if you did need something warmer than your Electron again.
@Midman1972
@Midman1972 6 ай бұрын
Not contention - just ineffective sizing for the masses. Why not tailor the Neutrino or (preferably) Positron-caliber to fit the torso more like an Electron? or create a new product that does that people will likely want A LOT? RAB: are you listening? You see a lot of appreciation for the Electron's fit across the internet. I had looked into the Kryos previously... 10D doesn't work for me, thank you. @@trekitt
