Chris Lloyd travels to Deer Lake, Pennsylvania to visit the newly refurbished former training camp of Muhammad Ali. He's joined by David Crouse, the borough council president who would ride his bike up to watch The Champ train in the 1970's, and by the former sportswriter turned guardian of the camp, Sam Matta. Together they discover the history of the camp, the story behind rope-a-dope and the rules of his kitchen.

Getting up there to see this is on my bucket list . Ali lived in my neighborhood in philadelphia in 1971 ( a year before I was born ) . It’s so cool to hear the stories from the people who were around back then about how approachable , generous and down to earth he was . Ali sold the house to Kobe Bryant’s grandparents and they lived there while Kobe was growing up . Kobe met Ali at a lakers game years later and told Ali that his grandparents still lived there , and Ali went back to visit the old house .

I have been there year/year 1/2 ago. I was by myself. No one was around. I felt a vibe or frequency that made me know this was a very special place. There is a Ali energy you just feel. A very special place, to feel a little bit of the greatest of all time. In and out of the ring.

I never knew who Ali was. I didn't even know when me and my mom moved to deer lake knew that's where he trained was. But I go now and then and I just look in awe how the place is, and learn something of what was American history.

The Camp is not in Deer Lake it is located on Sculps Hill Rd Orwigsburg Pa 17961. The reason I know this is the camp is right behind my house on the hill.

I don't know what this guy is talking about. Larry Holmes was not "out" the "next day." Holmes when to Zaire with Ali for the fight. And that garbage about developing rope-a-dope at Deer Lake is crap too. This is like listening to old drunks sitting alone at a bar giving you advice on marriage. They're living in a fantasy world.
